  • this shit is fuckin retarted

wish i cud say good effort.

  • I enjoyed this.

  • I think it's very good. Congratulations because this is a scene which is really difficult to shoot. Good work!

  • Also, lay off the sound effects. To equate the beautifully pointless circumstances and result of Meursault's crime to the sound of bacon frying (or a downed power-line) cheapens everything.

And that sloppy overlap at 1:36 followed by a comedy fog horn? Come on man.

Stick to making bad movies about things people don't have strong feelings for. This silly little movie is NOT "The Stranger" in any way other than a few similar circumstances set to bad sound editing.

  • I don't know.

It just seems like a great novel that was adapted in a very literal fashion. We have the beach, the knife and the gun and some cut scenes of "Meursault" in what I guess is a jail cell?

And while the sun is a powerful image and vehicle in Camus' book - it doesn't work at all here. It's clearly cold outside (leather jackets and beanies are a dead giveaway) and no amount of brow-wiping (2:13) can convince me otherwise. Without the heat, the sunlight is a moot point.

  • NICE! you have very nice the sun and his light symbolistic surprise. You have reac with the soul the book, not only with the eyes and mind.Congratulations and good luck!

  • epic fail.

  • God damnit. Fuck. Why did you even bother? Worthless. You cannot call this an adaptation of The Stranger, it's just a stupid, four-minute long video project. It represents nothing, it means nothing, and I wish Camus were alive so he could shoot you for associating it with him. Fucking idiot.

  • Meh, it's a scene from the stranger. Would you rather him call it that? If you can't recognize that, well, you've never read the book.

  • You are right, I'm sorry. I just don't like it, it isn't how I imagined it.

  • Is there no room for artistic expression and interpretation here?

  • my class is making our own versions of the sranger. yours is very well done. good use of the sun disturbing him.

  • I can't tell you whether or not it was good because i fell asleep. Sorry man.

  • GOOD JOB AND YOU HAVE SOME GREAT TASTE in fims in general!!!I Love the bicycle thief too!!by DE Sica

  • eeeehhh. you got it wrong. everyones already said it, but...uggh. im sorry. it works as a separate piece but not as an adaptation. otherwise, nice job.

  • Poor depiction of the written work. Should not have been attempted.

  • Sorry but... I couldnt say beter than pramesharyal... this is absolutly nothing about the camus masterpiece.

In your version Meursault simply and only looks like a paranoid mad killer looking for and shooting a target on the beach. You should maybe more read the book and less look to thrillers on television...

    amazing...

  • cool

  • Good job.

  • Placing Camus' The Stranger in Coney Island (is it CI actually?)

Nice version. The one in each individual readers head though is always the better one :)

    Cheers!!

  • holy crap. the intepretation is so wrong. did you really read the novel? im disappointed, really.

  • people have different interpretations.. this was just an adaptation anyway i think if he were to appropriately interpret the novel it would've been at least 86 minutes longer lol

  • i think the interpretation is very close to the novel.the only thing is that algier`s beaches look different from the one you filmed.

    god job,i liked it.

  • this is eefing wrong.

  • sweet, that's pretty much how I imagined it, moon, graffiti-covered walls and everything.

  • Wery well made shortmovie. I like it.

  • I prefer the outsider it s a better translation from l etranger

  • wow your version is so much more serious and well-produced compared to mine haha

    good job.

  • this is the best version ive seen

you got the knife reflection which alot of others miss

  • This scene is so perfect, its exactly what happened from the book!! very very well done!

    film more!!

    =)

  • Not bad.

  • mismerising as the stranger! great

  • wheres the part where he fucks that girl?

  • There's really no relationship here with the ideas in the book. Also, sometimes its ok to use a tripod.

  • the stranger was published in France UNDERNazi occupation!

  • Linking the glare off the knife with the sun passing over the prison cell window was inspired.

  • nice job with the cinematography, but the film doesn't express Camus's message.

you make it seem as if Mersault is some natural-born killer. he wasn't. he was hollowed out after having lost sight of the sacred.

  • why does he shoot 4 times afterwards?

  • interesting....

  • I think this was pretty well done - in response to some of the criticism: IT'S AN ADAPTATION. That means it isn't a literal transposition of the text...

I think the film captures le sentiment de l'absurde quite well indeed.

  • Camus is upset about this.

  • No, Camus already did his time. He doesn't know about this INTERPRETATION and never will. Unless you knew him, of course.

  • crap

  • not bad, not bad at all

  • Why does "Mersault" look like he's ready for a fucking blizzard? It's supposed to be hot out and the arab guy's supposed to be wearing overalls. The killing of the arab was way off, my friend. "Mersault" was what, fifteen or twenty feet away from the arab when he shoots?! hahaha. I give it one star because i feel kind of bad.

  • Lol....who brings a leather jacket to the beach?

  • The killing of the Arab was kind of off but five for being the neatest Stranger adaptation I've seen. The guy playing Mersault was pretty cool, and good job with the ambience and mood.
