Also, lay off the sound effects. To equate the beautifully pointless circumstances and result of Meursault's crime to the sound of bacon frying (or a downed power-line) cheapens everything.
And that sloppy overlap at 1:36 followed by a comedy fog horn? Come on man.
Stick to making bad movies about things people don't have strong feelings for. This silly little movie is NOT "The Stranger" in any way other than a few similar circumstances set to bad sound editing.
It just seems like a great novel that was adapted in a very literal fashion. We have the beach, the knife and the gun and some cut scenes of "Meursault" in what I guess is a jail cell?
And while the sun is a powerful image and vehicle in Camus' book - it doesn't work at all here. It's clearly cold outside (leather jackets and beanies are a dead giveaway) and no amount of brow-wiping (2:13) can convince me otherwise. Without the heat, the sunlight is a moot point.
NICE! you have very nice the sun and his light symbolistic surprise. You have reac with the soul the book, not only with the eyes and mind.Congratulations and good luck!
God damnit. Fuck. Why did you even bother? Worthless. You cannot call this an adaptation of The Stranger, it's just a stupid, four-minute long video project. It represents nothing, it means nothing, and I wish Camus were alive so he could shoot you for associating it with him. Fucking idiot.
eeeehhh. you got it wrong. everyones already said it, but...uggh. im sorry. it works as a separate piece but not as an adaptation. otherwise, nice job.
Sorry but... I couldnt say beter than pramesharyal... this is absolutly nothing about the camus masterpiece.
In your version Meursault simply and only looks like a paranoid mad killer looking for and shooting a target on the beach. You should maybe more read the book and less look to thrillers on television...
people have different interpretations.. this was just an adaptation anyway i think if he were to appropriately interpret the novel it would've been at least 86 minutes longer lol
Aun m pregunto x k? el protagonista dispara 4 veces mas...Si el universo lo había convertido en asesino, él ahora decide libremente aceptar ese papel...Yo creo más bien que Meursault mira hacia otro lado. No mira hacia donde miramos los demás.

I think this was pretty well done - in response to some of the criticism: IT'S AN ADAPTATION. That means it isn't a literal transposition of the text...
I think the film captures le sentiment de l'absurde quite well indeed.
Why does "Mersault" look like he's ready for a fucking blizzard? It's supposed to be hot out and the arab guy's supposed to be wearing overalls. The killing of the arab was way off, my friend. "Mersault" was what, fifteen or twenty feet away from the arab when he shoots?! hahaha. I give it one star because i feel kind of bad.
The killing of the Arab was kind of off but five for being the neatest Stranger adaptation I've seen. The guy playing Mersault was pretty cool, and good job with the ambience and mood.
this shit is fuckin retarted
wish i cud say good effort.

I think it's very good. Congratulations because this is a scene which is really difficult to shoot. Good work!

Meh, it's a scene from the stranger. Would you rather him call it that? If you can't recognize that, well, you've never read the book.

You are right, I'm sorry. I just don't like it, it isn't how I imagined it.

Placing Camus' The Stranger in Coney Island (is it CI actually?)
Nice version. The one in each individual readers head though is always the better one :)
Cheers!!

There's really no relationship here with the ideas in the book. Also, sometimes its ok to use a tripod.

nice job with the cinematography, but the film doesn't express Camus's message.
you make it seem as if Mersault is some natural-born killer. he wasn't. he was hollowed out after having lost sight of the sacred.
