@BoswelliaSerrata There are actually several forms of the word across languages. If you do a search Tatar and Tartar both appear acceptable. Science is the pursuit of coming up with ideas and finding evidence for those ideas. religion stops at the coming up with ideas. If you want to stretch the definition of reincarnation that far then our atoms becoming life in other forms is a form or reincarnation. It requires the existence of a soul though to have religious reincarnation

@BoswelliaSerrata No, there have been numerous rigorous studies to determine a soul, at this point all we know about neurology points to the complete lack of need for a soul to explain anything about the human condition, just like there is a complete lack of need for a god in evidence we have for the beginning of life and the universe. The soul and a god are severely redundant. Science is of course agnostic, if new evidence arose giving unbiased evidence we would believe it.

@anubis2814 Tatars are Turkic people, not Mongolic. Some tribes did fight under Genghis Khan, but they aren't really Mongols in the linguistic or cultural sense. There are also Tatars in Poland, Lithuania and Belarus, invited there often as border guards. So, they are neither really exclusively Russian or Mongol:). I didn't mean to knit pick at your video, just sounded funny to me. Cheers!

Tartar was a technical term of Paracelsian alchemy (related to tooth tartar) that eventually became adopted in chemistry. I would guess (and Its no more than that), the word goes back to the Roman term for the underworld (tartarus)--the name of the Inner Asian tribe is probably a co-incidence.

What it means for DNA to be Neanderthal DNA is not exactly clear, for most people it will mean something that isn't exactly accurate. I'm not even sure I fully understand what it means.

@dookiecheez I do (yay biology and understanding genetics), it means that we have pretty conclusive evidence that neanderthals and humans interbred and produced viable offspring meaning we are the same species but different subspecies or breeds. Europeans have 1-4% more genes in common with Neanderthal than Africans do. With our current migration models from fossils the only way this could occur is by african migrants breeding with neanderthal.
