  • I Like This Music

  • RIP Mr Burns

  • not a likable man.

  • "There's pudding in my pillow"

  • "There's cream cheese in house slippers!!!"

  • A truely bright spark went off in the comedy industry :( "we'll miss you ferret face , IN THAT BIG WAITING ROOM IN THE SKY !! " Goodbye , Farewell and AMEN

  • GREAT ACTOR !!!

  • RIP Larry Linville..You played Frank wonderfully he was one of my very favorite characters from M*A*S*H*...There is a taped interview with someone asking him why he thought Frank's character remained as it was...and he said "What, do you want to Hawkeye(s)? He was the perfect comic foil, important and necessary....oh the funny scrapes that he would unwittingly get into... Love you <3 Larry Linville / Frank!

  • Awsome...Thank You....RIP LL

  • WHERE ARE THE MASH SCENES--WITH DIALOGUE? NOT THIS FUCKING MUSICAL TRIBUTE CRAP.

  • RIP Frank. - A great actor

  • Very popular person on the MASH set

  • I did not know that he was Mark Dice's dad.

  • Mark Dice's dad!

  • Larry Linville was great as Major Frank "Ferret Face" Burns. R.I.P. Larry "Frank" he was a great actor.

  • Episodes with Larry were better than with Major Charles Emerson Winchester I think, this tv serial never die, love them at all !

  • Background music sucks. ALL background music in these "tributes." Just put together the actual scenes with the actual dialogue, for God's sake.

  • @24maildude or you can make your own video...

  • R.I.P. Frank Burns.

  • "Shooting yourself in the foot?!! You know you can get shot for that??"

  • Please, Does anyone know who wrote the song?

  • Great actor, knew exactly when to leave the series. Not too soon or tooooo late.

  • A brilliant performer... A great loss. Rest in peace Larry.

  • It is harder to act like a klutz than it is to act normal. My hat is off for Larry (Frank Burns) Linville for superb acting.

  • Larry Linville's real personality was the total opposite of Frank Burns'. instead of being self centered and narrow minded,he was a very kind man. Kind of like Jack Benny's character's greedy personality,he was actually one of the most generous persons.

  • WTF is wrong with people that think they can take a classic show, tack some stupid fucking song behind it and somehow they think people wanna see it.

Fuck off. It sucks, and so does the uploader of this piece of shit.

  • He was in my fraternity - Sigma Phi Epsilon

  • I have the right to like the music or not like it. so you can shut the hell up

  • music sucks

  • @bdillan1957 Shut up the music is good for this is a memory to 1 of the greatest actors.

And don't forget Larry he died 1 day after Frank :(

  • Lt. Col Farnk Burns (he was promoted). Our Flag is lowered for you. God Speed, and Thank you for your service in the motion picture arts. BTW....Pioneer Aviation, forever.

  • @robandrene lol, you hit probably two of the most obscure "frank facts" there are. he got promoted when he went stateside and hawkeye tricked him into trying to invest in pioneer aviation. :) love it. i wish i had been around when it was actually on tv.

  • Great job! Rest In Peace, Larry Linville...you were so very good at what you do--act!

  • @MrLand70 and a nice guy in real life

  • He was very handsome man.

  • Those eyes ♥

  • Good lord I didn't want a touchy feely music video. GAG. I wanted to hear Frank Burns.

  • FEEEEEREETT FAACCCEE!

I love Larry. Had some of my favorite moments in MASH.

  • frank burns really made the old episodes worth watching. the scenes of him vs hawkeye real the best. he was so damn good at playing the stinker!

  • Good Luck Doctor-In that great big waiting room in the sky!

  • The only thing missing from this GREAT series was that they NEVER showed Frank as a human. A glaring missed opportunity. We got a chance to understand EVERY character except for him. He represented the hard-line conservative idiot, and was never given a voice. Even Stiers' "Winchester" character was given ample opportunity to humanize. But Burns - never. He lived and disappeared as the sole "evil conservative" in this series. I'm sorry, folks, but facts are facts.

  • @BBCater From what I can infer and guess is that Burns was not as bad a surgeon as he was made out to be, given the low fatality rate of the MASH unit; with only so many surgeons, if he was really as bad as they said he was it'd be much lower. He probably didn't have a good relationship with his father, evidenced in "Margaret's Engagement" when he said he had only one friend, who only pretended to like him, the way his dad used to.

There was a lot to work with to humanize him, sadly enough.

  • R.I.P. From sweden!

  • Larry Linville was probably one of the greatest actors in M*A*S*H

    R.I.P Larry Linville

  • "Oh can the balloon juice pierce!" and "I'm sick of hearing about the wounded. What about all the thousands of wonderful guys who are fighting this war without any of the credit or the glory that always goes to those lucky few who just happen to get shot?" are two of my favourite quotes from him that i can remember atm

  • To think, that it has now been 10 years since Larry Linville's death. Too much smoking, and excessive drinking did him in. No matter how much of an Asshole he was in the TV Show, we still have to pay our respect for him.

  • @Jiltedin2007 aparrently larry in real life was the polar opposite to his character frank

  • @TVRnGTR To say the least!

  • i always found it funny when he said the weirdest thing and there supposed to be insults

  • I think his characterb was misunderstood, trying to be a staight shooter when everybody was going crazy

  • Without Larry Linville in the role of Major Frank Burns, M.A.S.H. would not be the memorable show I grew up watching. He truelly was a great actor. R.I.P. Mr. Linville, thanks for enriching our lives.

  • I read somewhere that Larry Linville, the man, was practically the direct opposite of the character he played on M*A*S*H. Always kind, courteous, and friendly. It must have been difficult for him to play the Frank Burns character. He did an admirable job.

  • @zildj1an

It is too bad that Larry Linville have to play the role of Frank Burns, an idiot that nobody like. If Frank Burns have not been drafted in as a doctor, he would not be allowed to be a surgern in the first place.

  • @Mrbrianjohnson951 : I think Larry Linville was "the" one to play this Frank Burns character...I can't think of anyone else that could have done it better... You have to admit he did a great job and he was funny and think we all loved him for the way he played the role. I surely didn't hate hate him for doing such a great acting job..,,

  • @Osayannx

I am nothing against Larry Linville, other than he was typecast as Frank Burns and could not get another role after he left Mash.

  • @Mrbrianjohnson951 : I was more or less agreeing with you. I know you didn't mean he was not a good actor or whatever, but my point, which I didn't phrase correctly, is that I think he played Frank Burn's character very well. I mean, you just had to admire his acting skills and ability to play, as you stated, an idiot. But he was a laugh and a half in a way if you can look past this and listen to the come back remarks by Hawkeye and Trapper etc. :-)

  • No one else could have made such ridiculous lines sound so real. He was the most underrated actor on this series.

  • frank was the best

  • R.I.P Larry and McLean...

  • Well said "bsehawk" you took the words out of my mouth, Larry did have the hardest role to play and he did brilliantly. It's hard when you're a MASH fan to decide the best actor or character when they are all so fantastic, but Larry brought an amazing talent to his role and made Frank Burns human like even when he was at his most outrageous. Rest In Peace sir, you can be proud of the work you've done here on this earth

  • r.i.p

  • in every other movie thing he is i that i have seen, including MASH, he gets injured

  • Great video. Larry and McLean up at Rosie's in the Sky

  • I miss him. Thank you for this clip

  • larry made mash the funniest R.I.P

  • We miss you :(

  • burns such a brainless twit

  • Taki Amerykański Kazio kaczor

  • full and totaly respect for this wunderfull actor who had to play the most difficult rule in MASH

    Major Frank, RIP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i salute his actor would have to be a good actor to be that much of a dumb ass fuck face lol i really hate some of his stuff lo i

  • Frank was alright. he wanted to fit in, he just didnt know how.

  • CUTE BABY DEAR PURE BY HEART

  • I bow to Mr. Linville. He's a great actor with the unforgetable charisma!

  • I bow to Mr. Linville. He's a great actor with the unforgetable charisma!

  • He definitely deserved some sort of award for the character he played. He was one of my favorite characters. When he left, it just wasn't the same M*A*S*H

  • "Oh, Phooey to Youey"! Love you Frank

  • Outstanding.

  • "Where are you going Frank?"

"That's for me to know and you to find out."

You liked to hate Major Frank Burns............. Brilliant ,Brilliant actor Larry Linville.

  • He was so lucky that he got to hold and kiss Loretta Swit so many times, she was sooo hot back then!!!

  • I watched the series mainly because of Larry Linville, brilliant man and apparently well liked by the crew of MASH. RIP Larry......You were the fuel to those eary years on

    MASH.

  • What is that song called?

  • "Hi, Frank."

    "That'll be the day!"

  • @mdumas43073 - buahahaha! I love Frank!

  • I wish Larry's character had grown into something much more.

  • Everybody hates Frank

  • @Dooku64 yours truly does not

  • He was GENIUS..."What? Is there a bee on me??" Still hilarious after nearly 40 years!!

  • Great actor !

  • Larry Linville (Frank Burns) was one of the greatest straightmen of all time.

  • R.I.P. Larry Linville

  • R.I.P without frank mash wouldve been boring

  • Major Burns was comical and he was more in tune with the initial comedy years of M*A*S*H.

  • What a great tribute with such a beautiful song!!!

  • Scene 1:44, Frank thinks he's so squared away for General Steele who tells him, "Trim the hairs in your nose!"

  • he was always a great actor

  • I have a lot of respect for Larry Linville. You didn't think he was acting and that's a mark of his talent. Too bad he was probably typecast for the rest of his career.

  • @brideshead1921 Yes it takes alot to act like a clueless, unaware character like that, when it is not your own personality.

  • lol "frank burns died?" lol" no but larry linville did" hahaha rex that was funny but no disrespect to larry

  • Definitely a versatile actor. He got tired of playing the mostly one dimensional Frank Burns near the end. RiP Larry Linville.

  • R.I.P. Ferret Face

  • R.I.P. Larry Linville, the best actor of MASH.

  • Larry Linville should have gotten an award or two for playing a character as crazy as Frank Burns! He was such a good actor!

  • Frank "Ferret-Face" Burns. The man you loved to hate.

Linville was top notch in that role. By the time he left the show, I stopped watching.

  • You could hate his guts, & somehow feel empathy for / sorry for his character. Comparing Charles Winchester to Frank Burns was difficult because they were different. Maj. Winchester was allowed to become a 3 - dimensional human being instead of a self - important, self - righteous " patriotic - when - it's convenient " parody of a human being. Larry L. left because he ran out of things to do with such a " straw - man " cardboard character, bless him.

Mr. Linville was very well - liked, BTW.

  • thank you for this wonderful act of respect for a fine actor. R.I.P.

  • Frank Burns died?

  • No but Larry Linville yes

  • Frank was the best! R.I.P.

  • Ларри - гений. Френк - лучший!))

  • Frank Burns was the cement Wall on MASH. He was the straight man that everyone played against. Lary Linville was an acting Genius to pull that role off. Frank was representative of the Idiotic war moning mentality that put the American Serviceman in Harm's Way in the First Place.

Linville, had to have a Thick Skin of Armor,A Heart of Gold an he understood what Frank was and what he was trying to be. Eve nwhen being Dramatic Linville was Great onscreen. then he revereted back to being Frank.

  • "Idiotic war moning mentality that put the American Serviceman in Harm's Way in the First Place."

You mean the attitude of trying to stop the spread of communism as it murdered millions. Got it.

  • best actor on mash... played a perfect mad, sad, desperate, confused, romantic, funny, drunk, and morphened lol

  • he was a horrible character. but i loved him

  • I played Frank Burns in my HS one-act-play. It was long before I studied acting. I'd love to do that roll again! RIP, Mr Linville

  • A great tribute for a great actor!!! He had the hardest role to play in MASH!!

I miss " The Ferret Face"...goodbye, Farewell and amen!

  • @bsehawk

    I absolutelly agree.

  • Hawkeye and Trapper order drinks, ask what Frank is having, he snaps( to the bartender )"He knows what I,m having !". Bartender says "Another Shirley Temple"...priceless...

  • He was a victim of his own art. With strength of his portrayal of Frank, no one in the audience would believe that a person like Frank (and they're out there) would ever change to the extent that Hot Lips could, and did.

He entrenched in Frank all the hypocrisy that exists in the jingoism and militarism of the American right.

  • And now the Frank Burnses are in Fox News ranting & raving :-)

  • It's nice to see someone has a soft spot for Larry Linville and this character. I think Mr. Linville was being kind when he stated why he left the show. I think he knew his character wasn't going to be allowed to grow and develop like the others; otherwise the show loses its antagonist. If Burns had been allowed to grow and become more three-dimensional, I think he would have stayed. I think that's the fault of the writing, in not developing him. Too bad; Linville created a great character.

  • Awesome song

  • I miss Frank. Charles just isn't the same.

  • You have to be an exceptional actor to pull off a character like Frank Burns.

    RIP Larry

  • farewell ferret face ( It was the line in mash when frank left... im not being cruel)

  • All characters were good.MASH is masterpiece

  • MASH is my life

  • RIP Larry Linville. You were fantastic.

  • He created an incredible character. Kudos to Linville, he was a master at his craft. His best line was, "Hard Cheese"

  • Why did he leave the show?

  • Linville stated in an interview that he felt he got everything he could out of that character. He just felt it was time to put the major to rest.

  • His character was, unfortunately, very one - dimensional. A hypocritical, inept, flag - waving martinet. But he had a few moments of real humanity mixed in as well. LL said he based his portrayal of Frank on " Every idiot I ever knew ". The episode where he went to pieces after Margaret got engaged & then Hawkeye & BJ took his side afterwards was great, you actually had a moment of real sympathy for him.

  • As I recall,Frank Burns' character had gone insane after Hot Lips broke up with him.

  • It takes courage to play the fool for such a long time, and it takes a genius to perform like he did...

MASH wouldn't be as great without him

  • frank was one of the most memorable charicters on mash and always will be. but we remember him in videos such as this

  • It's just too bad that Larry Linville died 10 years ago from too much smoking, and too much drinking. Makes you wonder why he himself didn't partake in Pierce's Still the one time he sent the MP's to confiscate and destroy it.

  • Ah, Frank. I don't care how much of an ass he was he was funny XD The one thing I will never forget is when they were all singing I don't want no more army life and frank stood up and said "Ol hawkeye and ol BJ they think they're pretty smart! I'd like to take a scaple and stab em in the heart!" XD I died laughing!

  • Thank you for this series. I'm 30 and I love this series and I love this series. And all the actors to thank for what he did.

  • Larry Linville was the perfect stooge for the show. The very few dramitic scenes he had were very well played as well.

  • That's a markings of a great actor when he can portray all emotions!

  • i grew up on this show. frank was always one of the best things about it. when margaret left for her honeymoon, he was so broken hearted. it was hard for me to like winchester. rip larry linville, thanks for the laughs.

  • R.I.P. LARRY...he would have turned 70 this year!!

  • He definitely died too young even at 60!I knew he had cancer for years before he did though.

  • I was in jr. high school when this show first come on the air...just loved it and still do. Frank was my favorite. I loved everyone else also, but Frank was very funny...Great show.

  • what a wonderful video..a beautiful tribute..Larry Linville was a great actor. Thank you for posting this....

  • What a beautiful video...Larry Linville was a great actor.. thank you for posting this...

  • whats with the song

  • I like the video! but when he is playing maj.F.M.Burns he does great acting it just his cheater is so mean on the show though but sometimes he can be crazy though on M*A*S*H! too.

  • R.I.P

  • Harry Morgan is in a great new bio (Charlton Heston: An Incredible Life: Revised Edition). The bio is for sale at amazon!

  • that is weird that Larry Linville died and Harry Morgan is alive! I grew up on this show and still laugh everytime i watch it. But they did get too preachy towards the end!

  • Actually, I think they got more realistic. They showed the true hellish realities of war, rather than trying to downplay them with humour. I liked it better that way.

  • Excellent video!

    Well done!

  • Song: I never saw blue like that by Shawn Colvin

  • he played maj.F.M.Burns really really really good !! as all actors every character in this serie

  • whats the song and who sings it

  • Comment removed

  • Exellent music, what is the name of the song?

  • no not the character ,( Colonel Sherman T. Potter) ,the actor that played potter, (Harry Morgan). I think that he died resantly.

  • Nope..believe it or not Harry Morgan is still alive and kicking at 94

  • Harry Morgan is definitely still alive and well

  • i think he means hary what ever his name is that played curnal potter i think he died resantly

  • "Imagine How Many Tears Fell When Colonel Sherman T. Potter Died... And That Was The TV Show..."

Col. Potter Never Died In The TV Show.

  • Imagine how many tears fell when Colonel Sherman T. Potter died... And that was teh tv show...

  • Col. Potter Never Died, Lieutenant Colonel Henry Blake Died.

  • There will never be another Major Frank Marion Burns ever again, always beaten at every turn. First by Hawk-Eye and Trapper, BJ after Trapper left, Potter when he took over command, and lastly Hot Lips when she got hitched. And here's a classic line from episode Two ,season Four "Change of Command" After finding out he has lost the command of the M*A*S*H:

    Frank: I already wrote Mommy!

Margaret: Aw your mother will understand.

    F: I mean my wife.

    M: Buzz off

  • I love this song.

  • RIP Larry Linville

  • They just don't make shows like MASH any more. MASH was the greatest.

  • Frank...Frank...Frank....we will miss you Frank!

Yes I know no I am a little late posting this. What a

    great show!

  • I could do without the sappy music, but it was really sad when the world lost Larry Linville. He was great on MASH. Charles was a good character, too... but without Frank, that show just wouldn't have been as funny. RIP, Ferret Face.

  • M*A*S*H Just.. Wasn't M*A*S*H Without Frank... I Could Just About Stand The Loss Of Trapper, But Frank, No. Nor Henry, The Loss Of The 3 Combined, Just Stopped It Being As Funny..

  • I admit it was extremely sad when they left but every one moves on and it was still funny

  • *Agrees* It Was Still Funny, But Not Half As Funny As Before.
