Let's hope it will take ages before these cars enter reality of our lives. The battery is already the worst mechanical (well, organic actually) device, so adding a car with these unreliable things, is really no progress. There has been virtually nog progress since the last 50 years, when it comes to regular batteries. It's still outdated techniques, and it will remain that way.
Guys, the point here is: other car companies can only test their electric cars for a short time and only in cities. Mini has already built an electric racecar (!) which does the lap on the most difficult racetrack in the world in an impressive time. It's not about how fast this car is compared to others (and of course it's no lamborghini) - this is the first electric racecar that did the lap on the Nordschleife.
But I agree, no music plz (not that you would here anything then, though...)
Not sure what the point of the video was. Is this a quicker time than the 1.6 petrol version? Would have been interesting to know what charge was left in the car after the lap.
The dreadful music and art-less direction have almost ruined this video. Without the noise this may as well have been a video of a petrol Mini driving around.
This is a special car and the video, rather than showcasing the unusual and exciting elements, makes the achievement seem trivial and underwhelming.
I'd like to send a shout out to whomever ruined the video with music. Can we hear the electric car please? How loud is the engine versus the road and tire noise? No, lets put a shitty track over all that.
@Cryptic808: Electric cars do not have engines, they have motors. And they are very very quiet, so you wouldn't have heard much at all, if anything, over the road/tire noise.
I agree that it would've been better without the music though.
nice page…

Under ten minutes, impressive!
Must have been weird to drive it, an electric car develops all its torque from 1 rpm and the curve stays flat so there's no need for gears.

agree with Deadmeat... kill the horrible sound track and play the actual audio from the lap.

Sabine Schmidt nearly hitted 10 minutes with a diesel Ford Transit (see it in Top Gear)...
But good score ;)

I particularly wanted to understand how the car sounded. Ruined by music. Post the original please whatever marketing company is behind it.

yup. music in background doesnt help. is there a proper onboard video without this genious directing camera switches and background music?
