  • I love your basement! I should set up my room like this!

  • Great cam. Work on your fades.

  • @JamesThornbrook Your highness, what's wrong with the fades? Thanks.

  • is this an HD camera? if not how did you get it so clear?

  • @AngryAtTechnology75 To me, that's not clear. You tube's HD video is highly compressed. You should see the original. 10 X better. This footage was shot with a Sony EX-3 which is a very expensive camera.

  • Hi im looking to buy (canon 5d mk 2, or panasonic ag af 101 or sony z7u.) i am based in uk england and i need the camcorder for documentary and music video. i want an easy camera with one allround lense and recorded in sd card. witch one is the best. every time i switch the camera on even in home family events i want it to look like celebrity cinema movie style. thanks what do u recommend?

  • @faji187

    Sony HXR-NX5U NXCAM

  • Your basement is also an TV studio? It's amazing!

  • dude, fuck the camera for a second! you're basement is ORGASMIC!

  • THATS YOU BASEMENT! WOW!!!!!

  • Gorgeous..

  • What kinda jib are you using - I like the camera - but the jib makes the video look SWEET!

  • @GrahamRiver JonyJib Pro 24 available at B&H Photo dot com in N.Y. JIB breaks down to as small as 6'. Costs around 5 grand.

  • @GrahamRiver The JIB alone doesn't do it. You still need to spend money on monitors, necessary cables, weights, motorized head (another 4 grand for the head). To get this baby going, you will need about 13 Grand.

  • Can you do a video.quality test with a cinematic/film look? I want to see how well it would look like if I used this for a short film.

  • @aTacticalAZN There are so many ways to produce a film look I can't even get started explaining... I's a lot of work so, sorry, I can't do that. Right here on You tube, you will see thousands of videos with film kook using the very Sony HVR Z7u. NOW, film look is not only the "looks" You have to play with Gamma, Contrast, colors and MOST IMPORTANT !! a LETUS 35mm ADATPER! Whithout shallow D.O.F. your "film look" will be nothing more than a VIDEO with a few different color and other tweaks.

  • Go to B&H Photo web site and search for LETUS products. Also look for the LETUS on you tube. You will see like "testing Sony Z7u + LETUS" The LETUS Ultimate series (which I own) costs about $8,700.00 for the kit. Yeah, film look ain't cheap... You can also buy a Canon 5D Mark II and there you have it. Film look, thousands of Dollars less.

  • oh yes i can feel the texture of the drums

  • Very Nice Camera & Crib!

  • DYI music background ohh yeaaaahhhhh

  • are you a producer?

  • WOW That was really well shot. Was that drumset a pearl forum??? I have one exactly like it only it's grey. And was that shot on a dolly at 2:13?

  • @ArmenianLegion The whole thing was shot on a JIB (see title) No dolly.

  • lucky bastard

  • Unbelievable. Are those motions from your hand?

  • @slavicdragovtev

No, that's a little more sophisticated than that. a 20 foot JIB/Crane was used. You know those "flying" shots that you see the camera going over people's heads in a Concert? That's filmed on a JIB.

  • Trabalho excelente, você é um grande artista, parabéns, Alexandre Starling(Brazil)

  • rich bastard

  • @minella1

    Rich? Why?

  • wow such beautiful quality, feels like this is a drum porno movie lol. what type of filter were you using to get that reflection/shine from the drums in the beggining? looks stunning

  • @austinpawl

It's not a filter, it is a plugin found in Sony Vegas Pro HD 9. The plugin is included for free and it is called "rays"

  • HHAAhahah these slow mo zoom ins remind me exactly of gran turismo with the zoom ins on the car and jazz music in the background hahah awesome, nice shots man i like your kit as well. Im thinking of buying this camera cause i want to document my tour as a musician. U think this camera is a good buy compared to other ones???

  • Z7 is very good camera. Just keep its CMOS chips away from strobes because CMOS don't like them. Rolling shutter effect causing undesired results.

  • @jahkoz

There is no zoom used at all. The camera is traveling on a track and mounted on a crane.

  • If that's your basement... i can't imagine what your editing bay looks like.

  • How would you rank this camera compared to others in the $5,000 range? Would you consider this one the best? If not, which one do you suggest?

  • Stock lens?

  • Your basement is ridiculously cool. I'm a video production and I'm a drummer, so you can tell how much I appreciate the room. Seeing how that Pearl kit is set up I can tell that you are a big Rush fan. Sir, hat's off to you... BRAVO.

I just sol my Canon xh-a1 and for the looks I think the Z5U will be my next (I don't think I need to change lenses).

Thanks for posting, I'm gonna go play now.

  • The drum set got slightly bigger. See my other vids. Yes, I am a Rush fan. Who isn't? But I now play more Jazz than Rush though... Thank you for your kind words.

  • This basement is dust free at all times. Never once has a party been thrown here. Everyone that comes down here tells me that it smels strong like an Audio-Video store too. And that's a good smell.LOL!

  • I have one word for your basement...........SWEET!

Would love to be invited over............Lol..............I currently own a panasonic ag dvc20p, and not too happy with the small, 1/6" 3 ccd............I would love to have a very clean look as the one you own has.............willing to shell out 5 to 6k..........Tim.

  • Did you use any adapters or filters? Or is this just in 24/p mode. Also is it in auto or did you adjust gain iris, and color?

  • 1- Was shot in 60-i

2- Do not ever shoot in 24p. It can cost you big time as clients complain because they hate the strobe look. You can shoot in 60-i then decide to render later in 60-i, 24p or 30p.

3- No filters, no color correction, gain set to (-3) manual iris. Zero post.

  • It looks like it is 24p because You Tube does not play HD smooth. On Blu-Ray disc, it is butter smooth and it doesn't jitter like here on You Tube. Also the audio sucks. The original audio is 380Kbps. On you tube it looses all the way down to 32Kbps. I don't understand why audio quality is not important on this site...

Also, did you know that even if you shoot in 24p, your computer STILL captures footage as 60-i?

Source of info: Apple, Sony, online forums.

  • Thanks for answering my questions, it was really helpful. This is one of the cameras I have been looking at. Do you free-lance?

  • Ies I do. I work for 11 companies including my own. What state are you located? I can shoot in N.Y, NJ and PA

  • damn youv got a nice house. and obviously alot of money!

  • I wish I had but I, I do not have a lot of money. Just insane amouns of work to do. Thanks for your kind comment.

  • what format did you render this footage?

  • HDV 730p with Sony Vegas Pro 9.

  • Thx, can you render in h264 on vegas 9?

  • Unfortunately, it cannot be done in Vegas, BUT, it accepta ALL type of jubk you throw in the timeline such as m2t, m2v, avi, quicktime, mp4 unlike final cut which you have to convert to MPEG2. Just immagine this: 10 tapes to capture to final cut...Each tape has 12GB! After loading 120BG on your drive, I guess you are doubling the space since you have to convert all that plus as it is already enough wait to capture, you wait for the conversion. Of course you can shoot tapeless as well.

  • Great picturing and edit work. I understand this camera can record also on a CF card,as well as on a MiniDV tapes? Are you limited on the card size? Is there any difference of quality when recording on CF card and not on a tape? Thanks.

  • 1- CF card and tape simultaneously. You can even recorn in HD and SD at the same time; HD on tape and SD on card, SD and SD or HD and HD.

2- The limit size on card so far is 32GB, enough to record 4 hours of HD material on each card.

3- The quality recording on card equals to the most expensive mini DV tape you can buy.

  • Plays very smooth on my Mac Pro with 5MBps download speed. Good work! Would have loved to hear the snare drums in the music.

  • If you check my other videos, there are 2 named "Jaming in da basement" (when it was unfinished. Check it out.

  • Really nice place. I wish I had the Sony HVR-Z7U.

  • what is jib?

  • Looks great! May I ask what Jib you have?

  • Johny Jib 24'. You can brake it down to as little as 6'

  • I also use the z7u. Great camera. Were you using the stock lens as well?

    nice TRT

  • Stock lens.

  • Too bad You Tube doesn't play it as smooth as it looks on disk. Since this is a big file, You tube jerks either in HD or regular, regardless what computer a user has.

  • great place beautifully filmed
