Did this 2 years back but my wings were nature themed! The botton wings was a brown stocking with felt green leaves & felt & painted pink flowers! The top was some custom stocking that were like a collage of brown & green leaves with pink flowers, with blue pollen. I used brown ribbon 4 the handles. Also did my hair like the fairy off of sesame street, I had a pink puffy skirt yellow tank top with a pink undershirt pink earrings black & pink socks pink polish & makeup hair curled & brown shoes.

@ViviPoop This is amazing- bending the hangers was harder than I thought- and one broke! (but I tried string around it really tight many times which fixed it.) and I went overboard with the sparkles. But overall- it turned out great- and I thank you a million times over for the instructions! (I found the end wire a little pointy- but covering it with excess tights and sewing that in place fixed it. Any way- great vid! Thank You!

I had no trouble at all with the wire hangers -- I used the white type. I also used yarn instead of twine and that was fine. Done in 45 minutes. One tip about pantyhose size -- IT DOES MATTER! I used adult small, and they were tight enough that they prevented me from having the wire shapes as wide as I would like. So get large, and don't get "extra support". You want a stretchier type. I want to post a photo or link - how do I do that here?

@ochiechick you can make them just like these! Just shape the hangers a little different (i would say less of a teardrop, but thats up to you!), use white tights and use white feathers or those strings of feathers (like those scarves that kids wear to look like movie stars) and use white ribbon and string. just basically this same thing except white and maybe not glitter?

These wings are actually really fun to make, but they're not as easy as it looks. The wire is pretty hard to work with, but the results look pretty awesome and your costume will be more fun becuase well...no one else will have your wings lol

Tip: If you go with the wire hangers instead of, say, 25 gauged wire from the craft store, be very careful. I bought the cheapest wire hangers that Wal-Mart had to offer and they are still much to thick and heavy-duty to bend with wire pliers. I think you'd really be better off just buying some wire from your craft store.
