  • with the russian energy!!!!my master..

  • Is it normal that he plays this piece like a semitone lower? o.o

  • Sounds good but this ain't the right key! Lol.

  • is the piece in a lower key? It should be in f major, not e, right?

  • @iluv2write Ya. You are right. What a bad Soviet michrophone

  • I love it

  • Certified Intergalactic! David Oistrakh - killer violinist!

  • Of the people who have watched this video who are actually learning this song and using this video as inspiration... is it just me or is the 3rd line of Var. III really hard? And playing trills while bouncing the bow... I can only get one or two in.

    Sigh.

... I wish I could play half as good. And is he playing the first variation with spiccato, or just really quickly, because my teacher told me to play it quickly, and it sounds sloppy, though it's probably just me.

    That was amazing.

  • @mq9demo undertones are the low notes u hear when u play a chord. if u play an onstrument you would know that

  • @violinizt I thought that's called a Tartini tone?

  • Oistrackh achieved to bu ONE with his instrument.....that's not easy...for me....best violinist ever in the century XX and XXI , I have not hear someone lis him until today

  • I always thought Oistrakh was highly underrated. He had the poetry of Yehudi Menuhin and the technique of Heifetz.

  • @lionelrolfe101 Underrated by whom? Many think he was number 1.

  • @lionelrolfe101 Well, of course, since Yehudi was my uncle, I'm prejudiced that way. But unquestionably Oistrakh was very very great.

  • One of the incredible cultural achievements of the Soviets

  • great

  • It's probably the quality of the recording affecting the pitch. There's a recording of him doing this on 440 A.

  • damn the 1st 2 chords of 2:40 are sooooo damn perfect....you can hear the undertones....

  • @violinizt What in the world are undertones??

  • @mq9demo yeah, why not.

  • His bow technique is amazing, what power and precision!

  • The Professor himself.

  • Great interpretation, but why is the sound a bit more than a half step too low? that is annoying. Maybe the whole recording is a bit too slow. this kind of thing happens with old recordings. You should try ajusting the speed. Anyway i would be surprised if he really tuned with A 415.

  • Oistrakh is among the best violinists in history.

  • im learning this piece, what an inspiration I have found here

  • 나도 이곡을 해!!!!!!!!

  • Wonderful. Great teaching tool for students who sometimes think of the piece as a "student piece". Also, his video files show so much more life than his pure sound recordings

  • So very beautiful!

  • Stunning...

  • staggering performance. Oistrakh employs his trills so cleverly. Love this man. Looks like an automechanic - makes the tools of his trade sing like no other.

  • he's very good

  • Yes, he is really good, and so is his son Igor. They both are amazing! They played some pieces, such as Bach's concerto for two violins. It is SO good!!

  • I once listened to my recording of them playing the Bach Double on a $170,000 stereo shop in Berkeley california. It was the most amazing experience. It was as if they were standing there in the room. There was SO much more clear difference in their sounds and styles. It is amazing what we miss on regular systems. The papa is my fav.

  • Wow!! Pure Oistrakh style!

  • fantastic player..but,why not in..diapason A440?

  • May be it was filmed with 24 frames per second (cinema format) and is played on DVD/television with 24 frames per second, making it sound about one halftone higher...

  • Amazing!

  • He is so good!! Gosh i really wish

i could play as well as him !! but

i'm only in grade 6.... So great

    THANK YOU! ^v^

  • Yes, you will be good like him if you practice many, many hours every day. You will be!

  • thankyou :)

    i shall praticee more!

  • You are welcome. But, you have to practice every single day. If you don't practice one day, your skills will go back to three days. So, practice every day. Every day is the most important thing you can do. And, you have to have a good teacher. Without a good teacher, it will be waisting your time. You have to find a good teacher as much as possible. My son is a violinist as well.

  • i have a good teacher, but he does not get very angry if i don't do well. But he tells me there are conseqences to all things in life.

  • every note is so clear and he makes it look effortless. excellent accompaniment too

  • This is amazing

  • this is simply amazing. i love how he does the trills. :)

  • He might just play this better than Shumsky. 0.o

  • I palay these variations now. I can't say I'm as good as Oistrakh but I'm quite good.

  • Let's see a video of you playing it. :)

  • yeah, i wanna see it too :)

i promise i won't say nothing bad about you. i don't play any instrument, so i admire people who does it. a bad playing is better than a no playing.

  • i dont understand y u got thumbs dowm lol

  • This video was from the "Kaluter"

    It was VHS company.

  • where did you get the VHS ?? Did you steal it at Kremlin ??

  • Always Oistrakh.

What source is this video taken from?

  • Awesome! Awesome! I love those variations and Oistrakh plays them very nicely.

  • I love Oistry!

  • Absolutely amazing
