@kindator To answer your question is the super hornet better than a blk 60 f 16.There isto much complexity onto say which one is better.better at what??A2A?air to air consist mainly on missles and radar the superbug has better radar than an f 16 but same missles so basicaly the same.but the rhino will have a better shot because of lower rcs and radar.Dog fighting the rhino(f18f) has HMD which can have offboreshots at 180deg. Amazing!n a gun fight the f 16 will out class and out mounver the f 18.

@cavegoat13 actually the engines arent responsible for making that thunderous noise, well kinda its actually the air making that noise. the air coming out of the engines are coming out so fast that its going supersonic and making a lots of min sonicbooms wich makes that crackling sound

I don't mean to burst your bubble man. But the F/A-18E/F 'Super Hornet' (most of us call it the Rhino...its got a HUGE nose haha) is primarily operated by the US Navy and US Marine Corps. The Air Force does operate the F/A-18, but not to the degree that USN and USMC utilize it in a strike fighter and electronic control (VAQ use the EA-18G 'Growler') role.

Navy (to include Marines) are the primary users of the F-18's. There are also some still in service in the Air Force.

Also, 2nd Battalion 2rd Marines is a reserve unit. If your cousin is going to "basic training" he would become Enlisted-Reserve upon completion of "Boot Camp". You must be an Officer to fly F-18s in the Corps.

the f-18 super as well as all military A/C have fixed airframes, impossible to modify for a new engine such as a rapter engine, i know i have worked on this A/C for over 6 years, they use the GE-f-414 engine, different from the legacy hornet GE-F-404, supers engines are more powerful with a better thrust to weight ratio as well as range and payload, just some hints!
