Ricocheting bullets? No one is THAT afraid that a bullet might ricochet. The chances of a bullet ricocheting are very slim. The chances of a bullet ricocheting off a surface and hitting you are REALLY slim.

He's probably using hollowpoint rounds. Those things never ricochet.

@B9Killer you go to a gun range and they have built a non ricochet proof designed targets. having a flat iron metal target such as the one in the video can ricochet. its really not worth losing your life over. just look up ricochet bullets on youtube.

sadly is "stoping power " was verry bad for a 45 , is black powder cartrige was the same stopping to a 25 or 32 acp

curouisly it's like a tradition in french army !

But i think the reality is more complex , french fighted whit artilerery, not innfantery ..

A small caliber hanndgun is more easy to carry ....

@druisteen1 Yeah, what I'm getting at is that those pistols have faded into obscurity, whereas the "Colt .45" is being manufacturered today. It's the same as the FN FAL in .276 might have performed better than the FAL in .308, yet the .276 cartridge faded away and now the 7.62x51mm NATO is adopted by a massive amount of countries. Was the .276 a better cartridge? Maybe, but it doesn't matter now.

@druisteen1 That's a pity about MAS getting closed. The same thing happened with our Springfield Armory, but then a private company started making firearms under the same name for us civilians, so we're still pretty happy.

Also very nice that the French are making some of those vintage guns. Must be very interesting. Unfortunately on this side of the pond we don't see many (if any) of those guns. Still cool that your gunsmiths are reproducing them!

From what I've seen of his videos, I would even say that he's not a very safe firearms user, he has poor trigger discipline and there are some parts of videos where he's firing and not even looking at what he's shooting. I see that you are keeping 5 rounds in the chamber to make it so it won't shoot your foot off whn you have it in a holster. I love these antique Colt .45s, and also one of my other favorites are the M1911 Colt .45, M16A1, and the old Winchester .30-.30s. Guns had heart and soul put into them in those days.
