being an avid guitar player and someone who has searched the musical world inside out ,i have come to think EJ as the most refined and musically gifted player i have come across, and it aint even close:p he's way out in front...only other player that would come close is shawn lane imo
He just uses overdrive? That's how he gets that distortion or is it something else... because seriously...that tone is crazy, and that playing is insane...
@devilsinheavenvideos I think i've seen that but to be honest, it's way too much money for someone who doesn't have the skill yet to have it.
I wanted a marshall amp, that's as much as i know, and that fractal pre amp that like 2K... it's actuallly pretty badass, seeing as tosin abasi, and eric johnson use it, i'm convinced.
@Jamsessionroom1337 lot more than just overdrive man. Lots of amps. Stompboxes running through his amp FX loops. Pedal board in front of him. It's quite complex actually.
He is such a unique player. He's got a great chorus-y tone through everything and just makes it sing on leads, but at the same time a lot of the chords and fingerpick type of stuff he does that sounds so layered is like a mini symphony in one.
i still think he should have stuck with his signature fender strat cause hardware counts too look at the diiference between Erics' Fender pick-ups and Erics' Ibanez pick-ups
Damn, I love guitarists who stuck to their roots and didn't turn into absolute shredders like Vai or Malmsteen...that bit of blues that Eric has really brings his music up a notch, without being the traditional blues player who justifies how bad they are with "It's blues, man, I'm supposed to play slow."
By far the best strat tone ever, clean or dirty. His playing ability is out of this world, He plays planetonics, they sure don't sound like the run of the mill pentatonics you here all the time. A true one of a kind Guitar Maestro.
Even if there was no audio, I'd watch it just to watch his hands. Can't quite place it, but there's something beautiful about his picking technique. It's so fluid and deliberate. Eric's the man!
If you know what your doing then it's beautiful to you. To me it's noise. please don't use misleading vid titles or I'll begin to suspect you're a yank

Eric Johnson is perhaps the best shredder, or at least the most creative. He somehow is able to make his quadruple time licks chill.

@Jamsessionroom1337 it all comes from the mullet my boy.
Dethincarnate224 6 days ago
@Jamsessionroom1337 It's a lot simpler then you'd think. A delay, fuzz, and a good overdrive to hit the fuzz with will get you 95% of the way there.
bonchie1 1 day ago
@Jamsessionroom1337 Oh yeah, and roll the tone back on your guitar and cut the treble at the amp some. Huge factor in his tone.
