Blacky Gaxton in the comics (amazing universe) helped blackmail Betty Brant's brother, Bennett Brant (doc ock was behind it too); who had a past in gambling. Bennett then is killed by Blackie in a final struggle. Basically they made Mark Allen into Bennett Brant, replaced doc ock with green goblin, and kept true to source material with Blackie Gaxton's role.

To the comment on Mark's vouice and not recognizin Peter's voice, one: would you expect a nerd like Pete (which every believes him to be) to be Spider-man? I mean, in one episode, nobody believed Pete was Spider-man. And in all honesty, Spider-man sounds a lot more confident then Peter does in real life. Probably a factor as well.

This just my oppinion. I'm not saying anyone elses is wrong or right. i just felt like The other side of the issue on his voice disserved a chance.

Also, in the very first comic which Spider-Man appeared in (Amazing Fantasy, issue #15 I believe) at the end of the comic it gives a description of Spidey's suit. One thing it said, that I remember haha, was that his mask muffles his voice so he can't be recognized.

Maybe they kept some of the stuff from the old comics in. Like his costume, I'm pretty sure the costume for this show is the same as the comics. Maybe the kept more details in then we could ever imagine o.O ... lol =D

@LocktOn in the comics they originally explained along time ago that the mask muffles his voice. so we're all supposed to suspend our disbelief and assume that it works well enough to make him unrecognisable.

I think the cartoon lets us hear his voice normally so as not to confuse viewers, but the characters "in" the show are apparently supposed to hear the muffled voiced.

Either that or their all as dumb as Lois for not recognising Superman. haha

i think captain stacy knows... recently he makes references to his cop class to spidey, dropping HUGE hint bombs on him and spidey is slipping up in covering his tracks (eg when the new enforcers blew up a truck peter said he would stand by to take pics during a cop school field trip and came back unscathed to capt stacy.)
