  • What exactly is a Crown Sheet?

  • @Nascarking24 I believe it is the piece of metal at the top of the firebox. If it get to hot it lets water from the boiler in, which is instantly turned to steam which expands and makes the entire locomotive go BOOM and kills anyone nearby.

  • God, I love hearing this train.

  • What day did you go?

  • @TNtrainboy15 Yesterday

  • @288jh From what I understand 70 got left unattended and her crown sheet overheated.

  • @288jh good ole 70 is having some running gear work done as well as some welding work to the firebox. They should have her out in about a month or so. I was there about a week ago and saw that she had some problems with the running gear. I am going to put up a video with some pics of 70 soon.

  • good to see this one back in one piece, now...TVRM is now the only tourist railroad in Tennessee that doesn't have 2 operating steam locomotives.

  • @TVRM610 No, someone left water off of 70's crown sheet awhile back, 192 is the only one operational again. However, of all the museums with SOU steamers under restoration, TVRM is the only one still working on theirs.

  • also does your camera take pretty good still photos.

  • nice video. what camera are you using. I am thinking about getting one. just wanted your opinion on what i should get

  • @dwtrainman I use a JVC Everio, though if you can afford it I would definately recommend a Sony over anything else. The still photos on mine are fuzzy.

  • @SmokyMtnSteam thanks very much.
