  • she still look good

  • @MegaBlackisBeautiful: Yes indeed! That picture was taken a little over 3 years ago too.

  • I met her and her husband a few years ago! My grandmother used to sing with her and Malvilyn sang at my grandmother's funeral! My mom would always watch Malvilyn and my grandmother sing all the time!

  • lawd this woman can sing

  • Thank you for posting this! I saw Mrs. Statham many times as a student at Dundalk Elementary School. I was too young to really appreciate her talent!

  • WOW......look at my grandmother singing and she still sings and dances she never lost a step!!!!

  • is she married to Calvin?

  • Yes, she is.

  • She's one of my favorites too! She can play the tamborine, sing, and cut a mean step at the same time! She's got a great voice!

  • Thank you for posting this tribute. It takes me back to my days at Disneyland.

  • Wonderful! She is FANTASTIC!

  • Malvilyn Statham can cut a step in the Name of Jesus. It seem like all the Clara Ward singers did the Holy Dance not just as a praise to God but for showmanship as well. I tell you they had some FANCY Foot Work too!

  • dwayne she is the best from the wards! i love when she beat up that tambourine....

  • No one could play the tambourine like Malvilyn Statham and Madeline Thompson...BUT...Malvilyn is so animated, so it makes it exciting to watch her play it!

  • This is one of my favorite singers from he Ward Singers. (She was always my favorite. I though she was the most beautiful of the group. And she can SHO NUFF CUT A STEP! I was starry eyed over Malvilyn and her tamborine!)

  • When you last saw her, did she start "krumpin" like she did in that "Dry Bones" video? lol.

  • NO, but she can still mooooove!

  • I agree rowoches.... you do a wonderful job. Keep bringing us the history lessons.... we be lovin it..!!!

  • Alright now she make me wanna run on!!!

  • Thank you Dwayne for this tribute. Your biographies on your tributes add a lot to the music.Seeing you with the individual with a current photograph and one from the 1970s is an added bonus.

  • I'm glad that you like it, especially since you've seen the Ward Singers numerous times in person!

  • u should get a job as a gospel music historian with a specialty in the ward singers and mahalia jackson...lol

  • Hmmmmmmmmm.....that might work! LOL!

  • I second that.

  • You right! This brother got the hook up! I love these posts.
