There are way too many children who have seen and experienced trauma. We need to do a better job of protecting our children. Check out traumainchildhood.
I saw my dad pass right in front of me and had to pick him up out of the bed and try and revive him while the EMTs were coming and didn't get PTSD. I was depressed about it but it's almost been 3 years and I try not to think about it. I know he is in a good place now and watching down over me and my family. I was 16 when it all happened. Is it normal to not get PTSD over a death? Or am I just diffrent?
I dealt with an un-detectable natural gas leak that got me to the E.R. twice. Took 3-4 months before it was discovered and by then my health was so bad I couldn't walk around the block. Now I think/hope I am recovering and am almost positive I got ptsd from it.
@likewaterjkd more of a fear of not knowing if the air I am breathing is safe or deadly. I have since then moved out of that house and I have gotten better but still get some minor attacks every once in a while. I never thought I was going crazy, I felt like I was dying.
I got PTSD as an eleven year old child after being violently bullied on a daily basis. It was left undiagnosed and ignored for six years. I stopped speaking much after the second year. I know for a fact that you get sicker as time passes, and it is the worst possible thing you can do to tell someone to get over it.
@Lunadrake100 Quite similar. I was dumped and humiliated in front of all my friends, after it being revealed that she had cheated on me on three occassions - and then attacked with a knife by one of her friends who wanted in with her.
LEGAL ABUSE SYNDROME is a form of PTSD caused by the Alberta Response Model: ETHICAL VIOLATION, LEGAL ABUSE,BETRAYAL, ABUSE OF POWER, ABUSE OF AUTHORITY, LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY AND FRAUD. Many children in Alberta suffer this form of abuse and Munchhasuen's by proxy created by defensive doctoring or medical and legal malpractice. Abuse of FN children is done via SLAPP Strategic Lawsuites Against Public Participation with the intent to prevent First Nations from obtaining justice for children.
It sucks so hard to have PTSD, I sleep aweful, have to wake up in 5/6 hours to finish school project but cant sleep at all. I feel this need for crying but it wont come out. Driving me insane:(
iv got ptsd from being thrown out in to the streets at 16 and seeing alot of killings and having to shoot back so i can live is one thing that just keeps going through my head
as a child i was not only subjected to abuse but had to watch as my sister and pets were tortured as well. the diagnosis of ptsd made me relise i was not insane and could indeed be helped and live normaly
one thing that can cause PTSD in children is bullying, and unfortunately it is usually overlooked. i know this because i am currently being treated for PTSD which was caused by severe bullying during my primary school years.
@simplehelpinfo Transferance from parent to child seems valid. You can't help but be effected from how you are raised. If one is surrounded with conflict.Avoiding infection from PTSD symptoms would seem a difficult expectation.Lets be honest. Not many of us do not experiance intense stress and various levels of hostility during our years of development. My Dad was in world war Two and then his first wife died after giving birth to thier first child. He's been off for as far as I can remember.

I went undiagnosed for three quarters of a year.

I hear that PTSD transfers to children when their parent suffers from it. Any truth to this?
