Howard Jones, along with The Human League and Belinda Carlisle will visit Smart Araneta Coliseum in Manila, The Philippines to perform on Oct 10, 2011.
Thank you Luiscmckl! I don't think I've ever seen this video! It seems that the video shows were evaporating by the late 80's and you never got to see any videos anymore.
The thing I miss most about the 80s: people understood then that humor could be a big part of art and media. "Hip" didn't necessarily mean "ironic". Lack of irony means a vulnerability that most won't risk now - either because as individuals they're afraid of looking weak, or as corporations they're afraid it won't sell.
@liberal2nSF I was thinking to post something to "explain" the mummies in the video to the new generation. You hit the nail right on the head with your comment. Well some of us remember when some people cried out about the dumbing down of culture. Few paid attention and of course it happened and has brought us this new world. Sad.
It's a shame that music today don't have the feel that it did back then! But times change and now we live in a hip hop nation. I cant wait till this movement is dead!!!!
OK 80s video buffs....help me out. I remember watching a video on MTV -- there was a guy dressed like a king (fancy cape/robe in red velvet I think and a crown) who is walking around with a lawn chair. I recall an open grassy hill or something? I was a kid and that's all I remember except I think it may have been one of those songs people either loved or hated? DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT SONG I'M THINKING OF? I just can't remember :-( PLEASE HELP!!
@farleyfarkle Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence, EARLY 1990S! "Enjoy the Silence" is Depeche Mode's twenty-fourth UK single, released on 5 February 1990, and the second single from the then upcoming album Violator.
@robfergusonjr -- THANK YOU!! I've literally been trying to remember this for years! I only saw the video a couple times and remember liking it -- I never would have made the connection to Depeche Mode -- I remember a few of their songs I really liked -- "Personal Jesus" , "Policy of Truth" and "People are People".
I love this video, I may be a sap but this song is one of favorites. The mummies are people in love long after they are dead. That would totally represent everlasting love.
Did you ever notice howard gives a upsidedown finger early in the video.
I love this video, I may be a sap but this song is one of favorites. The mummies are people in love long after they are dead. That would totally represent everlasting love.
This is my personal favorite Howard Jones song. I think he could release this song right now and it would a hit. Everyone is looking for an everlasting love instead of the same old douchebag. Come on, Howard, you could probably use a few extra bucks.
@italiangerry1 I was thinking that the purpose of the mummies was to show that appearance doesn't matter, as long as you love to be with each other. But that probably makes more sense, since it's "everlasting" love, haha.
The 80s music was soooo good, that you could dance to it, had meaning to it, and you could enjoy with someone you were in a relationship with. Im so glad I lived through the 80s :)
Their was so many songs entitled "Everlasting Love" and out of all of them this one was the best and still is. Howard Jones was one of the most innovative artists of not only the UK but all of the world in the 1980's. Everything today is a result of the giant leaps forward music took as a result of guys like him. What a time for music and we are still benefiting from it today.
