  • Love Paul's playing but it sounds retarded in the context of this song. Oh and hopefully Michael Rhodes recieved a serious talking to from Brent over that little temper tantrum.

  • Motif Rhodes sound is fab - love mine and use it all the time!

  • I am good friends with Brent. My hero since I was a kid. Now we are peers. But Paul? He is the absolute best steel guitar player on the planet. There is no question on this. He has transformed that instrument. And he is one of the sweetest guys I have ever met. Cheers Paul. Thank you for your blessing to the world.

  • what did rhodes yell?

  • Bravoooo

  • Ahh, the bass solo....the perfect break when you need a) a nap, b) to run to the restroom or c) get another pitcher of beer from the bar.

Or, if the solo is long enough, d) all of the above.

  • No Lanefair....he just miffed his solo...he didn't blame it on anyone else but himself!

  • i had a talk with michael rhodes he is a real nice guy i went to see them at 3rd and lindsley..in the video the band is a little loud i am a bass player my self and when the bass cant hear the changes it all gets messes up but michael is my idol lol

  • "Coffee makes me nervous when I drank it"

  • personally the artistic honesty of letting the steam out and then getting right back in there in a different way was refreshing, and the solo was totally sick and awesome after that!

  • I think its way cool for a pro like these guys are to once in a while have an "Oops" while playing live...The bass man hit it wrong...he acknowledged it and came right back and played a nice solo. No one plays "perfectly" all the time...and ya gotta admit...the bass man isnt usually one of those called upon to do "solo's"..I applaude him

  • Brents vocals are really good...I saw one clip of him back in the mid or late 80s...he should showcase his vocals more ...imo.

  • ......Having never met Rhodes or really knowing his work, except for being one of the players, it's kinda weird hearing someone I hold so high not execute things pefectly.......

  • Rhodes is great...yet he is human.

  • 3. he's not a dick in my opinion based on this. he was obviously upset about the drummers volume, and he wanted the dynamic to come down, so he reacted. he's human, and did a gesture that got what he wanted. in loud situations like that, sometimes u have to yell. jus how it is.

  • 2. 'skating around the time' is not odd, its hip. and michael does it extremely well. lol.

  • 1. NOTHING WRONG with this solo!!!! u guys who act like he can't play over the changes are fools. it's not too far out for the tune,

  • OMG love the George Benson singing and playing, that is sick!

  • so cool!

  • He's a great supportive player. No doubt about it whatsoever. But he's NO soloist and I think he is aware of that.

  • BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT!!!

Michael is just feeling it, living it, playing it and has one of the finest live sounds you'll ever hear - genius playing!!!!

  • Wow! SO nice to see a heavy like Rhodes skate way out to the edge like that! Really nice to see / hear he's human. Amazing groove! Amazing player! Thanks Michael!

  • Michael Rhodes is a kewl dude in a loose mood! I LOVE HIM!!! He's not a Nashville Session Ace for nothing. If you question his talent, look up his credits. Larry Carlton, Steve Winwood, and a host of many artists known and not-so-well known have worked with this man. He can do rock, country, jazz, ANYTHING! Keep kickin' out the jams, you rock my world! Peace and Love, JJ

  • I don't understand why everybody is on the Rhodes for his performance. I sure that the rest of the band members feelings weren't hurt nearly as much the people commenting. These guy's are pro's, just having a good time on the weekend playing some cover tunes. Listen and enjoy, even critique but don't don't be a dick.

  • @minivanhell Mini...you've got it...just look at the reaction PF had when Michael blew his stack and got back in.

  • I was gonna say some bad stuff about the bass player but then i realized that the guy is just a really deep person on the bass, to deep to understand it all, anyway, the comeback of the band just sets everything right

  • great musicianship, the bass payer seems like a dick. The vocals are a little weak

  • and you're a fool for judging him.

  • Hear Hear my friend!!!

Some people need to get educated before they comment on guys like Michael

  • @Hoppo75

    Tru dat

  • love your music man! 5 stars!

  • And he's not all over the time, he's going for something, he doesn't paint the whole picture for a million reasons, maybe something personal (they have lives and loves too). That's what music is about, the person, it's not about some train spotter tempo police giving an opinion, pining over a virtuoso's dropped beat. He moved on during his solo, so should all of you now the solo is over.

  • You're all off the point, he went for something, he just about got it or lost it, that's cool, play on. He's got the shits with himself and he wants to change the mood because he can't go down that corridor now. The slide player loves the stuff he's doing. They're all friends, cant you see that?

  • as a bass player in michael's defense if the band is to loud its almost imposible to say anything meaningful. unless your jaco or victor or a super chops guy. and mike is about the groove. and with that he never struggles. i've had the same problem with drummers when they bash on bass solo's. rock on michael your the shit. TC

  • It sounds like Michael is making one of those "shredding" videos during his solo. I don't think I've heard him do that before. An otherwise great rendition of a great song.

  • bass player is skating over the time thats odd

  • Yeah. I mean I really love Michael's playing. I've heard him several times at 3rd and lindsley and ofcourse on all the records. I have to say though, this looked like he just lost it for a minute. Your right, I think I'll try that next time I attempt a solo.

  • Michael Rhodes is definitely one of the best...one of my personal favorites is Emory Gordy jr.

  • I LOVE Emory Gordy. I don't mean to insult Michael's playing whatsoever. He's a groove master. I could also be mistaked about his mood in this video. I just found it a little odd. Peace

  • you must be in the know about Nashville bass players.

  • Does Michael Rhodes get pissed off at the band during his horrible bass solo? I can't tell. It looks like he's blaming the volume on the fact he can't play over the changes.

  • Yup, I'd have to agree. That's actually a good trick. Next time I screw up over changes, I'll just look irritated and yell at my band.

  • He certainly looks and sounds like he's a little pissed. Too bad; I think he's a really good player. The solo is pretty bad.

  • @lanefair He plays over the changes very well and no he is not upset at anyone in the least. He is simply playing aggressively and it carries though his actions when he call for a further break down from the band.

  • listen to him singing lucky mann, nice mann

  • Brent can actually sing really well, maybe this isn't his best song though. And I can totally understand the audio issues. The last time I went to see them play I sat right in front of Brent but Paul's amps were pointed right at me. Ouch!He is great but not affraid to push those amps. I couldn't hear high frequencies for days! Haha it was well worth it though, they are great!

  • First time I here him singing and it is not bad at all . Cool !!

  • Brent is a great player but you should really stop singing.

  • Thank you !!!!!!!!!!

    These are great videos
