  • I can't get a dc motor running with a joule thief.. I've even tried a capacitor, still no use, can you help me on this?..

  • I thought a generator would create electricity?

All I'm seeing here is a crude voltage transformer.

Love to see you attach a load and measure all the Voltages and Currents baring in mind the power factor.

Guarrantee it'll not be the "generator" you claim it to be.

  • (POWER MISALLIGNMENT)

A tough one in AC theory is power gain. Eg. Charge a capacitor with 10 volts and it will avg. 1 amp. for 100 sec.. This would give us V x I = 10 x 1 = 10 watts for 100 sec. (DC).

    .

    Drain capacitor 10 amps with avg. 10 volts (eg) and takes avg. of 10 sec. Power extracted is V x I = 10 x 10 = 100 Watts for 10 sec.

    .

    Power gain = 100W / 10 = factor of 10!

    . "joules" = energy = V x I x t = 10V x 1A x 100s = 10V x 10A x 10s = same amount.

    .

    Energy is NEVER gained!

  • (cont) In AC waveforms the theory gets more complicated yet. In the previous post I posted about power factor and how the waveforms for the voltage and current are "out of phase". The waveshape is also important as a spiked shaped voltage has a hard time lining up with any shape of current waveform. For power they have to be present at the same time in the majority of time.

    (power misallignment cont)

  • "Joules" (a measurement quantity of energy) cannot be stolen from nowhere. Joules cannot be extracted from vacuum (ether) or imagination or video games. Steping voltage up or current or both at the same time is not a gain in energy.

e.g. In AC power formulae I can have 10 volts and 1 ampere and absolutely no power (Watts) and therefore absolutely no energy! This is called "0 power factor" where the voltage and current is out of phase (not at the same time).

    .

    (cont)

  • @JoeFitant i believe the whole 'thief' aspect to the coinage, is in reference to the fact that millions of people discard disposable batteries every year, when infact they could have harnessed a possible weeks worth of illumination from said batteries

  • Can anybody spell "AC wave formfactor"?

  • "Joules" are units of energy . You are not showing any energy measurments or any energy gain, just a motor genereator circuit. This can be done with a buzzer or phase shift oscillator circuit (1 transistor) and a step up transformer and no moving parts.

  • ok we are seeing volts, how meny amps are being used on both sides, thats very important, looks awsome but id like to see amps and volts plz

  • why not try disconnect the battery and join to motor from generator can running forever

  • @vroom350 why not try suggesting something that might actually work?

  • Five stars ! Thanks for sharing. Tec

  • Many thanks for your comment and rating tectalabyss.Jonny.

  • I want to try this with my turbine for sure, any digrams online of coil winding this circuit? 5*

  • Hi Teslajet. The joulethief in this vid is just a standard joulethief and if you goo gle joulethief you will find a diagram. Also check out the joulethief thread at overunitydotcom as this is where all the advanced stuff is.Thanks for your comment.Regards jonny.

  • Hi. How you enjoying your work? What is your vision? jacobdotnavyatgmail

  • Nice .

  • great, but .. its just 0.5 volts

  • Energy is measured in watts not volts!

  • @sebsworld0 Energy is measured in watthours. Power is measured in Watts. Voltage is measured in Volts and current is measured in amperes.

  • Wieviell Ampere??

  • get sound!

  • Jonny:

Excellent job here! I believe this proves the concept very well. Keep up your great work. Thanks for the mention.

    Bill

  • You just found out you can't run the motor with just voltage,

got to have the current too.
