I haven't found a venue that allows fog so it is pretty much the norm to have lights that don't need it, or apply them in ways that fog isn't needed. Some lights are wole room effects like the acrobat or vue VI, others only cover a small area. I have actually used my Vue 1s in the same fashion as an uplight. Put 3 or four of those around the room, and itmakes a really cool effect.
I would like to add that everyone should stock up with lights that do not require fog. For example, you can use a "fire", "water" or pattern effect on the dance floor, ceiling or walls. Cosmo style balls, like the double head rolling balls or great to "look at", and pretty much anything that spins... like the saucers or UFOs. A classic light is the snap shot strobe and maybe some beacons. Simple uplighting and under table lighting can also be used. CHEERS!!
@grafxnrg: Really excellent advise and fixture suggestions. I will try to put an annotation in for those suggestions, and give you credit. This is exactly the kind of stuff I am looking for here :)
@MakeItKount : I should have included Haze, because I really am talking about both. Clients sometimes also object to Haze, but yeah, a Hazer is better :)
