@koes007 Well, it does resemble a Sonic game because of the checkered ground and stuff but it plays nothing like one. Sonic games have acceleration and are based around moving quickly straight ahead while timing jumps and rolls correctly.
sonic is rip off of duke nukem and castlevania. Why? Ituses the same control behaviour and program environment. So this is clone of all clones that were cloned after duke nukem and castlevania. So we put an end on cloning speach. rofl
@TheMariomaster33 i would make it that when the player collides with the enemy and their face downwards or there about, the player bounces and the enemy takes damage.
This is a link to a video of my MMF2 game "The Final Specimen". I taught myself the program and have been making it for three and a half years, and still have a long ways to go.
I'm not myself, but I do have family there - and you're right about the location! The first time I went to America in about 2004, I landed at San Francisco airport and saw the name on a sign outside, and instantly thought that it was the best platform game level name ever :)
Ha, awesome! Small world. :) Regardless, CC2 looks incredibly fun. When's the release date? I used to be a part of the indie game company Fallen Angel Industries (FAIND), if you remember Commando, Factor X, Super Ken Senshi etc. We primarily worked in MMF.
I do remember FAIND! It was a shame that they split up, because they were a great MMF group, and they only lasted until a few years after I discovered the online Click community myself.
As for a release date, let's not get too ambitious here ;) Well... at the moment I'm hoping for "some time in 2010, probably", so that I can finally get it off my mind after so long. Thanks!
This is a custom movement - the basics of it are detailed in a tutorial I wrote for the site (under "Custom Platform Movement"), but I've extended it a bit since then.
Would you be willing to post a video tutorial or provide a link on a step-by-step written one? I know several people who would truly appreciate it. I can't believe that after all this time, ClickTeam hasn't made a solid enough standard platform engine that works as solid as the 8-bit games I used to play. Things like moving platforms are still broken when using their standard applications.
A whole lot of things - mostly the DOS games from the early 90s, and a few things that I've played since starting work on the game. The layout of the game is sort of similar to Mario 64 (though I hadn't played it when I started making this game), and there's a bit of Zelda-style ability gathering as well. And the display of your score during a jump came from the Tony Hawk games! It's just got a bit of everything :)
I wrote it. Using Modplug Tracker, played with the ModFusion object in MMF2 (which frustratingly doesn't have a working pattern jump action, so I had to split the ending music up into two files).
I'd definitely recommend it, it's worth downloading the demo at Clickteam's site. It's easy to get the basics working very quickly, and flexible enough (especially via extensions) to produce very competent-looking games.
It does have a couple of weaknesses, mostly in the way that game events are sometimes tied to individual levels and you have to keep copying them around, but you can mostly avoid this by planning ahead. It isn't noticeable until you get more ambitious :)
The artwork's a combination of a few people's work, including my own - I went through a couple of graphics artists before finding one who produced most of the animated sprites (and the tiles are mine). The majority of the game's artwork is drawn pixel by pixel!
Oh.. my god this is amazing *o* Im thinking of getting MF2 and this has literally pushed me to saving up for it! Can I ask a question, how hard is it to make a decent platforming game? I just mean designing wise not including music or sprites.
Thanks, I'm glad to inspire more people to try out MF2 - it has its weaknesses but I think it's definitely the best game creation tool around :)
Making a platform game isn't instant, but it's a lot easier than coding it from scratch - you'd want to avoid the default platform movement to avoid it feeling characteristically "like an MF2 game". There's a tutorial I wrote in the Clickteam site's Tutorials section about making a platform game, to help you get started (it works with the demo, too).
Hi there Circy, I seem to have been neglecting my playtesters a bit :) I'll definitely give you an email when I feel I can release a new version - it's difficult for me to remember how far it's come since the start, but the difference may surprise you! I just need to get what's playable into a form where it can all be reached from the start of the game.
are there like uprgrads for your magic so you can raise the maximum magic amunnition and the game and sprites just look amzing that i cant put in words something tells me this game and david have dedication
Thanks to your games it's inspired me i've built a few games on this engine but now i'm moving on to the new mmf2 becaue the last time i used it was when the games factory came out and i'\m a total noob again i guess i'll just have to work it out on my own.
Like.. when he jumps and lands on the platform.. its stiff.
His legs doesn't show signs of shock/recoil from landing. Normally when a mammal jumps and lands their joints bend in some way to brace the impact.. however he just lands stiffly.
Hah, a Sonic rip-off.
