  • this planet we live on makes zero sense. this vid has 35k hits yet some hot Korean chick barely playing classical saxophone has 700k hits.

  • haha :) you can hear some mintzer/potter huskyness in seamus's altissimo

  • Effing amazing...thank you for posting! BTW, were they in a parking lot or something? What's with the car in the background and the people milling about? wtf

  • hell yea!!

  • oh... seamus great great great great solo...! and brecker too, of course! but seamus is killin. what a personal concept of sound phrasing and articulation... yeah

  • woof!

  • yeas. michael brecker. always killing it. love the arpeggiated intro.

  • 05:03 ... marcus miller (camera)

  • i've been a lifelong brecker fan, maybe i don't "know" enough to say who kills what, but it's like the sorrow for mr. porkpie hat's loss bleeds through, right when both tenors are wailing near the end. this is my "semi-official" intro to seamus blake, viva both tenormen!!!

  • Haha youtube comments once again ruin everything!

  • wow that kid is good :o

  • brecker is so killing on this, it is nutz, seamus is the man also, two great tenor players, glad ive seen them both live! :)

  • this is amazing, we all know brecker kills it but seriously seamus, that guy is a motherfucker. this is a pretty great video, thanks for posting.

  • all that's given i'm going to agree and side with alfordeliot to much evidence pointing his way

  • al3tim I notice you've just signed up lol...Welcome to Youtube Sir. If you've looked thru this dissagreement you will see why i'm sticking to my guns....I was half prepared up untill a while ago to go with what that idiot Elliot was saying BUT I asked Mark Turner when he came to the UK with FLY about the blog and wether he was aware of it...He not only admited to saying this, he also elaborated on the what he said. What does Ethan have to know about the saxophone to quote someones words?

  • @indaplace2b not even an hour goes by and your commenting dude get a life

also let me ask you this do you play an instrument or your just a fan?

  • 0:41, TIMELINE.

  • this is good

  • LOL@ Not layin your cards on the table ... Thats pussy talk..YOU HAVE NO CARDS..The oldest trick in the book from someone trying to sneak out the backdoor of an argument he cant win . I'm 1 million per cent sure that your **Supposed** article wont tell me anything I dont already know or havent read elsewhere and it certainaly wont mention Ethan saying he misquoted MT .... Your such a sad person. Dont you feel stupid how i badded you up on the internet and made you look like a dickhead???

  • @indaplace2b oh you might wanted to do spellcheck your self in america badded is not a word please go back to school, learn something

  • man brecker seems to be impressed with seamus at blake at 7:23 truly a sight to behold

  • Wow-- catfighting aside, this is a great video. Seamus plays perfectly with Michael-- instead of trying of follow Brecker by pretending to be Brecker, he follows Brecker with his own approach and vibe, very authentically and beautifully. Really good job, man, and great music. Two jazz saxophone geniuses.

  • @heavyweather77 i apologize you had to see the fighting but that aside i totally agree 100 percent with you

  • @heavyweather77 well not a catfight more like a quarrel between myself and that jackass believe you me don't want to get involved.

  • Wow, does anyone know what that pattern is at 1:36 ?

  • @maxthesloth93 i think the first part was hexatonics or two tiadic tonalities and i think he continues the pattern using major and minor triads against each other

  • Wow, the way Seamus built his solo was awesome. It was perfect coming in right after Michael Brecker burrrnnneeed

  • I'd gladly pay the arm and/or leg for a lesson with Seamus.

  • @Bebopopotamus you try the new school you can study with anybody from new york anybody

  • mike sounds so killin and seamus held his own this guy always sounds good to me

  • @alfordeliot LMAO Yeah your right Bro! I didnt hear you the first time because if you look thru your posts there isnt anything about you asking him specifically about his remarks in the BLOG or him sayin he was misquoted! It's quite sad when you have to lie to proof a point. I feel it for you though bro. It must be very hard realising you dont know your pancake partner as much as you think you do. And about there beiing no proof. I'll bring JudgeJudy along next time me & Mark speak just for you.

  • @indaplace2b sorry dude hate to brake it to but i didn't lie especially not this, you came to me with this redderick claiming mark said whatever i bet you never even talked to mark liar, i feel for you bro it's sad when someone has to lie to make themselves look good don't come in for hair cut you got split end, and i'm pretty sure you couldn't afford judge judy even if mom paid for it but

  • @alfordeliot Hmmmm ... I Tell ya what mate,,,,get me some proof of you speaking to Mark about the Ethan Blog if you supposedly have it lol... I came with the "redderick" (WTF that is ???) ....of what i believed to be true and because you (pancake boy) told me i was talkin shit I decided to ask Mr Turner (without putting any words into his mouth) 3 clear questions on the subject matter and he answered them. You'd be better off writitng kids fictional stories dude. PS.Bro Mum jokes are so 1980's

  • ps i just got done interviewing to ethan and MT at the same time and both agreed that although brecker influences goes far beyond that of technicality an sound but a direct influence musical, transcription sound tone, technique is represented in MT not at all; he was trying to get away from that, that style everyone was in to create his own sound so in short i win you lose so shut the hell up and fuck off you old geriastric prick

  • @alfordeliot LOOOOOL Your the biggest prick on You Tube. Making up stories are we?? You should be ashamed of yourself. So let me get this straight. You interviewed "That Ethan Guy".. who i was hoping knew MT ?? lol. Its clear by your original posts you'd never heard of him before I mentioned him. So now you've interviewed him where's the proof of this interview dumbo? What magazine was it published in?. Bring me proof or Shut up dude ...hahahaha. Your right. You win at being a DICKHEAD!!!

  • @indaplace2 as we say in nyc no homo. stay over there and enjoy the queen

  • @alfordeliot Oh and one more thing....One way to prove this is to tell that "Ethan Guy" to publicly (on his blog) say he misquoted MT..... Until i see that I will regard anything you have to type from this point as a sad attempt by a out of work Street Entertainer with nothing better to do than sit at home fighting You Tube battles ...GET ME PROOF OR GET A LIFE matey..... I almost feel sorry for you.

  • @indaplace2b hah well let me put it this way my 36 year old brotha, ethan did a clinic a the new school, as a part time journalist it wasn't hard for me to get interview info period now on dude your old as hell now who has the mental capacity of a 5 year now remember you came to me with this bullSh%%6t

  • @indaplace2b oh yeah on another note just go a job a jazziz magazine and will be publishing the interview i did comingout in 6 month so there dickheaded old geriactric prick oh yeah so Fu$% off

  • @alfordeliot LOOOOOOL You should try out as a stand up comedian. You can’t spell, your punctuation is deficient, And now you’re a "Journalist"??? Do you check your posts before you send them?? Like I said (cause i know you can’t read too good) One way to prove this is to tell that "Ethan Guy" to publicly (on his blog) say he misquoted MT. Alford come on dude.... no need to get angry and worked up ....I'm sorry if I bring back memories of how you got teased at school!! You sound pissed LOL

  • @indaplace2b and i'm sticking with my answer as well, now this whole fiasco was brought up because of brecker influence on MT if any, not none at all, but influence just doesn't come from shear technicality as in what i think you were driving at maybe his work ethic or musicianship the way he practice etc had an influence on MT, but not technique

  • @alfordeliot There's nothing you can say to me to change my mind as i sat & spoke to him & asked him for myself these specific questions.= >1) Are you aware of the interview on Ethan's Blog? his answer to me = 2) Yes. Did you say that? His answer to me = Yes. Now if I’ve asked him myself without puttin words into his mouth & he answered. Why are you trying to change my mind? Why are you getting so heated lol I don’t get it. Needing to state my age shows me your clutching at straws. try again!

  • @indaplace2b damn dude your not funny at all, anyway like i've said before i've interviewed both ethan and MT and got totally different responses than from you, without putting words in there mouths i came with an answer and conclusion that i'm sticking with

  • @indaplace2b sorry dude but the fact that u have to use ethan blog as a main source shows the lack of resource you have. ethan blog is no more than opinion base commentary no facts, and all that bs about the questions you've asked is crap you have no proof of your encounters and no ethan blog doesn't count it's total garbage, now i have proof an article discrediting ethans blog not published in the UK, stick to you answer, its still garbage and lacks substance in your arguement. try again

  • @alfordeliot LOOOL OMG Two months after I flopped your case your still tryin to save face??... Listen ... Show me the direction to the article you apparently written!!!!.... post it online!!!. and PS PLEASE stop typing to me on other Youtube vids you sad pathetic stalker.....I do not wish be your friend little man :) I Can tell you were starved of love as a child ... poor thing!

  • @indaplace2b not until you show me proof of your conversation with whom ever you talked too, i'm not laying any of my cards on the table until you show me what you got, cause apparently you keep pulling this garbage out your ass, remember you came to me with this crap over 5 months ago now deal with it, and the hungrier you are the harder you work, but i guess a cuddle UK prick like you wouldn't understand that huh, brotha

  • @alfordeliot Oh yeah I just wanted to commend you on getting your spelling & punctuation together, it has really improved, I would now see your typing & think you have the mental age of a 12 year old, so your getting better. Did you get a spellchecker for xmas? or are you just really scared I will keep teasing you about it ?? Now, bring me proof of this supposed article you wrote or this argument is over. I know you have no life as you police this vid even when no one is talkin too you LOL

  • @indaplace2b look who's talking the fact you commented back means you have no life and no wife, you're 40 yr old man exchanging dickhead comments like a perve pedaphile, who has the life now,

  • @indaplace2b but you know what, i must be a genius for a 12 yrold your just a dumb ass,

  • @indaplace2b called your bluff and your BS, like I’ve said, i got my info now i said my peace

  • @indaplace2b that Ethan Blog is BS any asswhole can write a blog, his info has no grounds and neither your argument he has no proof and neither do you please don't talk about the Ethen bs., that's weak if that’s your only source I guess a cuddle UK prick like you wouldn't understand that huh, brotha

  • @indaplace2b i'm i tell you one last time brecker did not have an influence on MT as it refers to technique, or transcibing, that was warne marsh and coltrane, influence can expand into other areas but not shear playing capability, now if you send chris potter i would say of course but not MT

  • @indaplace2b yo man even though this arguement seems to be blown out of proportion, I'm going to have agree with alfordeliot to a certain degree, i to play tenor sax currently studying at NYU with Chris Potter and Mark Turner, and from what Turner told me none of his influence stems to much toward Brecker although he loves his playing

  • @al3tim secondly... Mark never sugested to me that Brecker was a primary influence but he certianly made no bones about saying he checked him out and and went thru a period of anaylising his solo's. As he did with many of the great tenor players. My understanding is this was either in his Berklee/Pre Berklee days and before he got into Warne Marsh. thanks for your imput but not to worry I will speak to Mark again in early Jan and clear this up when he tours with Phil Robson and Mike Janisch.

  • @indaplace2b and I quote "Mark never sugested to me that Brecker was a primary influence" exactly but you sitll don't believe

  • @alfordeliot Your such a fool. With very bad reading dificulties. LOL. Tell me where in anything i've said in this arguement that Micheal Brecker was a primary influence on MT?? I'm not implying anything more than what I first read from Ethan then more importantly BACKED UP from Mark personally. Look through everything i've said, notice my story has never wavered where as yours has. You claim you have in writting a interview where you speak to both about this blog and what was written. SHOW ME!

  • @indaplace2b but it's not what you know is what you can prove now, i saying that Brecker was not a primary influence on MT, now influence can stem into many things but MT did not transcribe or used patterns from brecker

  • @indaplace2b you have only diplayed ethan blog and a couple of convo that you say you had, but have no proof of, I have npr interviews, downbeat, jazziz and jazz weekly all saying the same thing from his biography to his interviews saying that MT influence stems from Rolling, Joe Henderson, Coltrane,Marsh etc

  • @indaplace2b so i'm going to hip you to some knowlegde go read yes read jazz weekly interview with MT and the npr interview you will see no reference to brecker as an influence, now influence can mean more than one thing, but not the way you where talking about as stated coltrane and Marshe was MT main influence, next

  • @alfordeliot yo man i heard you at the listening session at new school dude you sound so killin, who did you study with

  • @al3tim I've study with Turner, seamus blake for bit ari hoenig, steve coleman logan richardson, etc

  • @alfordeliot how was studying with seamus and what type of stuff did Turner show you i'm studying with him next semester along with lovano

  • @al3tim well for me seamus gave me some great things to shed, but it seems that alot of people don't like his teacher style not so much, but MT gave me alot of voice leading patterns good stuff

  • @alfordeliot sorry dude for all the comments it's just that this is my first youtube account play i'm about to study with some serious cats, give me some examples of the stuff should you

  • @al3tim you'll see when you have your lesson soon

  • @alfordeliot This is the bottom line. I asked MT HIMSELF did you say what i read? HE said YES ...What is there for me to imply if he freely admited saying these words?? Your completely right i have no proof of my convo with MT but rest assured this isnt over dude! Had Mark Turner not said this to me himself and admited to these words i would have left it. If looking like knobhead on Youtube is what you seem to fear most then mark my words this will be cleared up when I see him in January! :)

  • @indaplace2b i'm going to level with you, you can insult me till your blue in face it's not going to make your argument stronger, so even though your older, I will reframe from insulting i guy i know nothing about.

  • @indaplace2b now you can go and have your convo with MT and it would probably go like this, you: did brecker have an influence on you, he would probably say yes, but not the likes that your thinking of.

  • @indaplace2b now until you can show me concrete evidence supporting your side, you have a shakey argument and lack evidence and curriently I have more media supporting my argument, and that means you've lost, it's been a pleasure talking to you sir you have a blessed day brotha.

    happy holidays

  • @alfordeliot Mr Elliot .... As i said .... I'd be back in January .... And here i am LOL, Just got back from hanging out with MT .... He is over here for a couple of days..... You asked me for proof I HAVE IT .... send me your email address please and i'll give it to you straight from the horse's mouth .... Secondaly I owe you a slight apology as it turns out you actually do know Mark as well as you said you did but on the Subject of Brecker (as he told me again) you were well mistaken!

  • @alfordeliot Also i'd like to apologise to Seamus for this argument getting out of hand like this, I did offer to back down a while back and agree to disagree with Mr Elliot but he wasnt having it . My beef with him was because I had spoken to Mark personally before about this so for Mr E to claim I was making shit up and to say that Ethan said he misqutoted him when Mark says he didnt ..... well i felt it needed clearing up!!!

  • @indaplace2b you man if i was wrong and you got proof so be it, apology accepted and i apologize for continueing the arguement, this is a new year so i'm trying to start things off right, i'll send the email info asap

  • @indaplace2b plus i wouldn't give to much credit to ethans blog, the guy knows nothing about the sax not at all but is a cool dude

    ps dude let it go!!

  • @indaplace2b oh yeah God save the queen old man

  • @alfordeliot One more thing,Why would you just come out of the blue and say you spoke to MT about the blog when you had sufficient and ample time to say that before?I'm certianly not lying and i dont see why MT would tell us two different things? do you take your Earplugs afer you finish gigging ?? That could be part of the problem dude. Bro I wont claim to have pancakes with him and know the family because i dont but i most definetly spoke to him for a good while LISTENED to what he had to say

  • @indaplace2b be careful i didn't say you where talking crap i just said you don't have proof oh my friend but i do. now for your info redderick is antoher word for crap. now until you show me proof of what you i'm deeming all of you points false galabanter, until proven other wise this conversation is now officailly over!! peace with two fingers.!!

  • @alfordeliot Wonderfull, it's better to walk away from a argument you cant win... Your doin the right thing bro *gives Alford a pat on the back and a A+ for effort*.... I'ts been a pleasure listening to your fantasy stories. Peace!!! Love and Hairgrease :D

  • @indaplace2b haha not funny at all, now until you show me proof of what you said i'm deeming all of you points false, until proven other wise this conversation is now officailly over!! peace with two fingers.!!

  • @indaplace2b sorry dude i never give up, and if anybody is living in a fantay world it's you, you seen or even talked to MT you made it all up in your head your a liar and truth is not in you, now until you show me proof of what you said i'm deeming all of you points false, until proven other wise this conversation is now officailly over!! peace with two fingers.!!

  • @alfordeliot You dont need to be sorry i can see your a looser who doesnt get out much.... I wonder how many great saxophonists in New York have time to sit arround on the internet being a youtube gangster?? Are things that quiet on the work front LOL?? Your the one who says you have proof of you speaking to MT about Ethans blog.;.... Send it to me and i will adminster an apology to you ..... But we both know that will never happen because you dont have any.....Why lie so much though? Weirdo!!!

  • @alfordeliot Secondly I dont have any proof in the way of a recording of me speaking with MT at the hotel. I was having a chat with him not interveiwing him. Maybe you walk arround with a recording all your conversations(this might explain why you dont have much friends and spend your life trying to argue with people on youtube) but i dont. ALSO you dont say when this convo is over. I DO lol ...We will keep this goin untill you provide me proof of you speaking to Mark the blog! Now hurry up !!!

  • @indaplace2b you must be void of unerstanding little slow in the head, you never seen or even talked to MT you made it all up in your head your a liar and truth is not in you, now until you show me proof of what you said i'm deeming all of you points false, until proven other wise this conversation is now officailly over!! peace with two fingers.!!

  • @alfordeliot lol ......how dare you call me slow when you type like a 5 year old with the most poorest spelling and grammar known to man ??? It's not over because you have to reply to me .... i might as well call you my lil bytch lol ..... This argument is very important to you! ....Why do you keep repeating yourself? That is the first sign of maddness and also the sign of someone who has lost a argument and is trying to save face ,..... I didint know MT was taking students with dyslexia.

  • @alfordeliot Oh by the way,,, Your totally right .... I'm lying my ass off.... I didnt go to the premier inn hotel after the show with Fly and Baptiste. I wasnt chattin to both Jeff Ballard and MT for a good while... Mark wasnt saying to me that he doesnt like traveling much these days and he didnt tell me one of his favourite up and coming saxophonists was Ben Van Gelder, He didnt tell me about when Q-tip showed up at Smalls with Nicole Kidman. He didnt talk to me in depth about voice leading!

  • @indaplace2b like i said before until you show me proof of what you said i'm deeming all of you points false, until proven other wise this conversation is now officailly over!! peace with two fingers.!!

  • @alfordeliot How can you end a convo and reply as the same time you freak LOOOOOL. I think you will find its the other way around Dumbo.... Like i said ...untill you have something new to say or evidence on the contrary, i will not reply .... I've worn you down to the point of repetition and its a sad thing to watch.... I know you will reply because as i said before your my lil bytch... *sits back and waits for the hairdresser's usual dumb (with a mental age of 5) childish response* ...

  • @indaplace2b no sir you just don't have any prove of you claim and/or your arguement which means nothing in this conversation since i do and until you show me proof of what you said i'm deeming all of you points false, until proven other wise this conversation is now officailly over!! peace with two fingers.!!

  • @indaplace2b i just got done talking to ethan and MT at the same time and both agreed with what i had to say on his influences

  • @indaplace2b i just got done interviewing to ethan and MT at the same time and both agreed that although brecker influences goes far beyond that of technicality an sound but a direct influence musical, transcription sound tone, technique is represented in MT not at all; he was trying to get away from that, that style everyone was in to create his own sound

  • How can you end a convo and reply as the same time you freak LOOOOOL. I think you will find its the other way around Dumbo.... Like i said ...untill you have something new to say or evidence on the contrary, i will not reply .... I've worn you down to the point of repetition and its a sad thing to watch.... I know you will reply because as i said before your my lil bytch... *sits back and waits for the hairdresser's usual dumb (with a mental age of 5) sound familiar

  • Beautiful.

    Everything

It's just so pretty. Both of you.

  • I dig Seamus' playing on this a lot!

  • Way to hang in there with the gentle giant. Michael was so darned intimidating. So was Berg.

  • @laughingtiger123 Man I thought Bob Berg was still alive.. how tragic.

  • Comment removed

  • kudos to seamus. there can't be many people that would follow a brecker solo like that! or even have the balls to try!

  • what are yo utrying to say about the giant steps recording with brecker and mintzer brecker fucking kills it mintzer does well but i mean brecker is the better sax player

  • @guysaxophone

Brecker falls off the 8th note train at the end of the first two choruses man. It sounds like he's barely hanging on. Mintzer kills that shit. He makes a musical solo out of it instead of trying to hang on with 8th notes. He makes a pure musical statement.

I could never play like either in a million years, and both had great solos, but as far as who gave it to who - Mintzer punished on this recording.

  • Wow!~

  • love how he starts pork pie with his naima intro.

  • Yeah Michael and Seamus!

  • yeah - Seamus

  • ...i know you might disagree, but i think seamus gave it to michael brecker. man... that solo was perfect.

  • You might want to get your hearing checked.

  • "...i know you might disagree." - what i said earlier.

You're entitled to your opinion. I listened to this with Terrell Stafford at Temple and he said the same thing. You may wanna get your lips off your michael brecker statue for a minute and dig what seamus is saying here.

And granted, MB was amazing, but he's gotten it handed to him before. Listen to the Brecker/Mintzer recording of Giant Steps. Same thing.

Brecker was a great player. But he was human. This video proves it.

  • Great solo, Seamus.

I remember what David Kikoski said about performing with Mike:

"The hardest thing to do, when you playing with Brecker, is to play a solo after him."

Both of you are great inspirations.

    Thank a lot.

  • hááááááha, wow

  • Hi Seamus,

    who's the pianist?

    from Mark in Toronto

  • its dave kikoski

  • Who are you?

    props man

  • what a great vid thank you will there be more from this show?

  • Smokin'! I would have been overwhelmed trying to play after Brecker!

  • really great version

  • Wow.. this is with the Mingus Band... Does anyone know who else was in this ban? drums? bass?

  • it was boris n jonathan.

  • Wow man.. I never knew he performed with the Mingus Band... Crazy... It's nice to get to hear you two together. Killin..

  • That was great Seamus. Always getting new and great things from you man.

  • Wow, what impressed me is that he could concentrate on his playing with a living legend standing beside him. I would be so distracted with "the man" standing beside me that I don't think I could get my thoughts across in an orderly manner. Hats off to Seamus! My first time hearing of this guy. There are so many talented people in this world, too bad that the genius we have isn't equally rewarded.

  • Damn... I miss anticipating Brecker's next releases and his next live tour and everything else...

  • Seamus Blake--my favorite living jazz tenor saxophonist.

  • seamus' melodic development and time feel stole the show. my favorite saxophonist: seamus blake

  • Goddamn Seamus definitely held his own.

  • In spite of all the great things people have said about Brecker, he is still underrated in the general scheme of things. What a wonderful musician he was.

  • Don't think he was that underrated. Maybe in comparison to shit like Britney Spears he was underrated but in the world of jazz... maybe not.

  • I dont get how Brecker was underated? What more could he do for the saxophone apart from win a nobel peace prize ? He's probably the most recorded saxophonists ever playing on over 800 albums. Its harder to escape his way of playin than it is to embrace it. I loved Breckers ethic on music & his playing. Potter, Seamus, Turner, Donny McCasslin All went thru a "brecker period" ie transcribing his stuff. before finding thier own style. Someone like Warne Marsh should be considered underated!

  • wow I just heard of this guy:)

  • very well put my friend

  • i don't think turner ever transcribe brecker when i had my lessons with turner he never mentioned transcibing brecker even when i ask about brecker's influences on him if any

  • Mark Turners own words

"Fuck those motherfuckers who don't give it up for Michael Brecker.

He was so influential to so many players. I fully admit to hours of learning and studying Brecker solos. He's consistently excellent. That Claus Ogerman album Cityscape is prime Brecker--just incredible."

When interviewed by Ethan Iverson backstage @ Village Vanguard. Go to "Do the Math, The Bad Plus " Blog for the whole interview

    I Rest My Case!

  • i agree with you, brecker totally influenced alot of musicians, probably not in the same way with most saxophone players but he has influenced, but as far as transcribetions go and in mark turners case; I've had several lessons at this guys house in new york and he said word for word the his influence came from trane, rollins but every saxophone player was doing that so he started listening to a guy you can hear he was influenced by and that is warne marsh.

  • The statement i posted in the quote marks supposedly came from Mark himself after being interviewed By Ethan Iverson a few days after Brecker died. Like i say check out Iversons blog. I too am a massive Turner fan & was surprised by his remarks ie trancsribing Brecker because in every interview I had ever heard from turner up and untill that point i read what he told you but as you know Ethan & Mark are very good friends so i'm inclinded to beleive the interview is genuine as its on his blog!

  • i will check it out when i can but i heard mark turner say those exact word in front of me in his house in brooklyn not from any other person's quotes his exact words

  • I'm half getting the feeling this is just a plug to let everyone know that you've had lessons with Mr Turner and for that im very happy for you, I really am!...I think you have a problem understanding what the word "quote" means though lol. So yes, i sugest you "check it out" to see what he actually said. And more to the point Ethan knows Mark much better than you or i do and wouldnt "misquote" him. Anyway, i rest my case on the whole mater out of respect for Seamus and the late Mr Brecker.

  • I'm pretty sure that the ethan guy wanted here what he wanted to hear, but in all honesty it doesn't matter, your refrence comes from another man mouth and you don't know if he stretched the truth or not, your just hoping he knows mark for x amount of year in order to make his words even creditable but i heard it from mark turners mouth, did you?

ps. I'm not saying that Mark wasn't influenced by brecker he said it

  • @alfordeliot I hung out with Mark Turner just last night at premier Hotel after a gig London with Fly & Baptise Torrington for about an hour. I have met him a few times before but didnt get to chat to him as long as last night. We spoke about many things including family life, Warne, Lenny, even Q-tip. I mentioned the interview. I even mentioned this convo on how you said he didnt check out or transcribe Brecker. He said you may have missunderstood him! He said Mr Iverson QUOTED HIM CORRECTLY!

  • @indaplace2b plus he said he wanted to sound different not like most saxes who came out of the brecker school of thought

  • @indaplace2b yeah dude that was one night you hung out with him i 've hung with turner for years, and not only that but dispite him maybe mentioning his influences of brecker to you he didn't to me plus you hear other influences in his playing and when i mentioned his influences espcially in his playing he didn't metion brecker at all that's not to say he didn't love his playing it just wasn't his big influences

  • @alfordeliot LOL You could be his hairdresser for all i care. You questioned my original statement about Breckers influence on Mark Turner. Your exact words => "your just hoping he knows mark for x amount of year in order to make his words even creditable but i heard it from mark turners mouth, did you?" Well yeah i did lol. I got it straight for the horse's mouth and not from some guy on YouTube who claims to have hung out with Mark for x amount of years but seems to be very missinformed.

  • @alfordeliot You also say ==> I'm not saying that Mark wasn't influenced by brecker he said it" ....Erm ... He told me there is no way he would say that because it simply isnt true. I suggest you call Mark and ask him yourself when he comes back to the states in the next few days. You have your wires crossed bro. One last thing. This "Ethan guy" as you put it IS a good friend of Mark's as i asked him yesterday. Who do you think Iverson's Odyssey was written for? You've been served mate! hehehe

  • @indaplace2b i don't know what mark told you sir, but i have recording from one of my lesson stating is influences and he did and didn't want to sound like that includes brecker, now from my stand point what ethan said to me is irrelavant especially since i heard it from the horses mouth, and for you info no one has been served just talk

  • @indaplace2b first off i'm a musician not a hairdress let's get that clear, and as what you said i can't proof agianst or for it but i know one thing i've been at mark's house for sax lessons for dinner lunch breakfast i know the family i know and have met most of mark's musician associates and had sessions with them

  • @alfordeliot This Convo and Youtube One upmanship is a bit boring /redundant now seeing as I asked him myself if he made the remarks on Ethan's blog *yawns* Having breakfast with him and knowing the family is niether here nor there and has nothing to do with this. When Mr Turner gets back to the States and the next time your having Rice Crispies together, ask him yourself if you dont mind loooking like a total and utter knobhead when he corrects you!

Ps good luck with hairdressing! Peace!!! :)

  • @indaplace2b i guess you didn't hear what i said so i will repeat myself to you, i to also asked him myself about the ethan blog and he told the direct opposite, that his influence did not come from brecker that ethan blog mis quote him, now i have recordings proofing this what's your proof?, remember you came to me with redderick not me, also the family cooks pancakes for me and i like it dont hate appreciate
