@matilderealms It was marked "lively" but that doesn't mean the person playing it cannot give a more mellow interpretation of it. Especially for someone still learning piano much better to hear a piece played slower than vivace but with decent technique compared to actually playing it vivace but sloppily.
@amarkanable I agree with you, but when giving your own interpretation of a piece it is important to bear in mind the composer's idea instead of taking away what characterizes it, for that would send a different messaged than the one intended. Besides, the rhythm is wrong. On the accompaniment it's not quaver-semiquaver-quaver, but three quavers
@matilderealms I agree with you about the rhythm being off, however I still think this piece can be played convincingly at either a slower or faster tempo, regardless of Mr. Schumann's intentions :) In any case far more knowledgeable pianists or critics than I have argued against or in favor of the idea that a performer's interpretation of a piece should be as close as possible to the composer's intent, so I respect your position.
