I think that this is some of the best bootleg RUSH Ive ever seen! For that matter I was at the Moving Pictures show in 1981 in St. Louis Mo. when I was 16 years old and they played this for the first time. Exit Stage Left for some reason dose not have this footage I guess beause back then VHS tapes were on average 90 min long LOL! Thanks to DVD and Blue Ray we no longer have that problem now.
@Jedi1365 I saw that same show at the Checker Dome Neil through hes drum sticks to the audience and all the way to the lights it was a great show and party we got hell stoned after the show we ate white castle hambergers and they served us beer at a skid road bar in down town then got lost in St Louis into day light . We were also about 16 years old.
WOW!!! Nice footage especially since video cameras were so freakin' huge back then!! Wonder how they got the camera in
That tour was the first time I saw Rush and I was only like 12 or 13 and I can remember that was my favorite song they played and that I know of, they didn't play that song again until the Time Machine Tour so it was such a freakin' treat to hear it again but this time at Red Rocks.... which by the way is the best place in the world to see Rush!!!!!! RUSH ON!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've seen Rush as far back as Waves Tour in 1980; never missed a show up to Vapor Trails... then I got stupid & moved to Australia & have now missed the last 2 tours & possibly this Time Machine Tour 'cause they've NEVER toured down under in OZ!!??? & there are tons of fans... Dream Theater & Porcupine Tree finally came down here (twice each) the past 3 years. Praying Rush makes the trip!!!
I saw them play this live on Moving Pictures and Signals tours and it was awesome. I am looking forward to seeing the whole Moving Pictures album live.
This is just so great...so rare...I saw them on this tour...This was NOT played...Matter of fact, Ive heard thru the years that Camera Eye is not one they usually played....Thanks for this rare gem....
Been seeing RUSH since the late 80's. Been waiting all that time to see Camera Eye as it is my favorite RUSH song. Turns out, no Michigan show!!! They never miss Detroit! This is such a bummer. I may have to make the trip to Sarnia, but that means the hassle and expense of getting a passport. Chances are I won't see them this time and I am just sick over it.
Grim-faced and forbidden their faces closed tight an angular mass of New Yorkers. Pacing in rhythm race the oncoming night they chase through the streets of Manhattan.
I mean this entire song top to bottom, lyrics to lick is one of their best ever.
I saw Rush once in my life. It was the Moving Pictures tour in the 80s ironically at Boston Garden and me being drummer was in 7th heaven.
I remember being so pissed that they cut over 3 minutes off of the end of this song during this tour. But after seeing this posting I feel much better knowing we all got CHOKED with this edited version. And now even greatful that I got to see any version of it AT ALL!
Hell, I've been to 20+ Rush concerts since 1977, They make mistakes all the friggin time. Its Non-musicians that wouldn't notice or care... I'm a musician and hell, i don't care.. I like mistakes, that's Jazz baby.. Mistakes give birth to brlliance! I hear it, he was doing something at the keys, and forgot for a moment to start singing. I've done that before... Give busy musicians a break why doncha!
Gustavito, it you think he's coming in late, you've never seen a Rush concert. Geddy always changes around the vocal arrangements...it's just Geddy doing what he's always done. Not late, "geddy'd up".
i agree fendergibs, but come now. the new material is good stuff, not like this, but still good. if i could hear this one, hemispheres, and fountain of lamneth in one show, that would be the my dream. for music that is.
I am waiting for them to play this song again as I missed this tour, 7th grade. It would be nice if Rush could tour without any new record release thereby opening up time to play classic such as this, instead of new material nobody knows or wants to hear.
This is a good video. It would have been cool to have been there, but I was born September of 1983 so that wouldn't have worked out. ;) Really good song.
I'm would bet that they will do this the next time around, I hope..What about you guys..what about you guys? It's been so long since they did it, they would smoke it
there kind of is, when most think of rush they think of either the vocals or the drums, but much more rarely that of alex. Unfortunate, he's a great guitarist.
I could not agree more with you. The music has so much room to breath no matter how restrained or all out it is . It just flow's like the wind. I have never heard anything more balanced and natural.
What the hell are you talking about? They are greater than the sum of their parts, since only together do they produce their awesome music. You have each individuals talent, plus how they interact and work with each other, that's the "extraness" that results from adding them together. It's kind of a given that they'd at least be the sum of their parts; if they weren't, they would suck, since that would mean they'd be better off not being in that band.
this song is always in my head...At work when the elevator doors open and sound off like the synth part (2:25), this song emerges in me... I wish Rush would play at least, the intro, and I'd be fulfilled!!...I've seen Rush over 10 times, like so many of us Rush fans...We're blessed!!!
i disagree with herostatus completely, i think if fans keep telling them to play it they will...eventually... why dont they even play it? is it too hard for geddy to sing it now or what?
Was there too - they didn't come to Ottawa on that tour, so on to the tour bus we went - Big Chappy Tours ... haha the same year we went to MTL to see Robert Plant with Phil Collins on drums - and the Van Halen Diver Down tour..
They've said that they've rehearsed the song at various times for certain songs and they just (to a man) weren't that into it. Too bad. If I could see a tour with just this song off of 'Moving Pictures' I'd be happy.
I can't understand their lack of set-list depth. I've seen Rush more than any other band; and they have a larger catalog than anyone else; yet they play the same songs on each tour (aside from their new material and usually one change on their set-list).
Yet, in the last decade I've begun following Radiohead. When they tour, they play a different set-list every night and have nearly 100-songs rehearsed and ready to go.
Why can't Rush delve into their less played catalog???
I sometimes kinda wish they hadn't always used things that were new at the time, as it makes their stuff kinda scream the decade it was made. I still love Rush, though
Geddy always said that he disliked playing this song live, and I can understand why. That being said, this song is really cool and unique. Moving Pictures rules!
