Sad loss of life. I made a short film with the Arrows years ago, very professional men. I don't think they are especially "brave" there are others out there who are in the firing line every day, they are just doing what they are trained for and paid for. But it is always tragic when someone dies in this type of accident, I live very close to Scampton where they are based.
Jon egging risked his own life to save others he did not have to stay in the plain he could of bailed but did his duty to save others but for that he is a hero R.I.P. Jon and regards to all of your family and friends and to all of the RED ARROWS
I witnessed the Red Arrows Team 2007 at the Langkawi International Maritime Aerospace Display (LIMA). Their amazing skills should be remembered honured and respected. Rest in peace Jon Egging and regards to his family, friend and country. Your team and your skills will always be remembered.
Bloody shame, for sure, but nobody will ever know the precise circumstances of what happened in his cockpit during that display.
We can all make guesses, and maybe some of us might have a fair idea how it happened, but from the footage on this vid it's far too far away to make any definitive opinions one way or the other. Fact is, something went badly wrong, and the lad handled it the best way he knew how under the circumstances. RIP Jonothan - good job.
Events like this are always tough to watch. If for no other reason than the loss of life of a person that, in this case, was part of an extremely dedicated process pursuing precision and discipline. I personally feel that saying that these teams are just there for a show is a bit short sighted. The primary goal of these teams is to demonstrate what the military can offer to those interested, in this case, in flying. They are a recruitment tool, and usually, a very good one. RIP

@Meddlies It is a dual control BAE Systems Hawk T1 with a Rolls Royce Engine. They are a slightly modified version the Royal Air Force uses to train new pilots. It is a good, modern, and rugged plane.
Both the F-16, US Air Force (Thunderbirds), and the F-18, US Navy/USMC (Blue Angels), come in a tandem two seat configuration, Plane #7 respectively. Their use is solely for a "guest". They are slightly modified, and stripped down. Tandems are used to train pilots to the plane, on carriers etc.
What was the official conclusion of the cause? It looks like a standard maneuver which makes me think possible mechanical failure. My condolences to his family and all who knew him. Regards.

Acrobatic flying is inherently dangerous, though they make it look easy, and graceful. All I can say is at least he died doing what he loved. It is sad, my condolences to all who knew him. Regards

He refused to eject, he stayed in control till the very end. He was thoughtful and didn't eject because of the innocent citizens that he might have hit. He gave his life in saving others, he is a real hero, rest in peace sir.

@Meddlies It is a dual control BAE Systems Hawk T1 with a Rolls Royce Engine. They are a slightly modified version the Royal Air Force uses to train new pilots. It is a good, modern, and rugged plane.
Both the F-16, US Air Force (Thunderbirds), and the F-18, US Navy/USMC (Blue Angels), come in a tandem two seat configuration, Plane #7 respectively. Their use is solely for a "guest". They are slightly modified, and stripped down. Tandems are used to train pilots to the plane, on carriers etc.

Acrobatic flying is inherently dangerous, though they make it look easy, and graceful. All I can say is at least he died doing what he loved. It is sad, my condolences to all who knew him. Regards
