@krazbar1 I've been bitten. I didn't get antivenom. There is a RIDICULOUS amount of superstition surrounding all spiders but particularly the venomous ones. Only a third of the people bitten by redbacks get any symptoms at all. They have never killed a healthy person unless old or sick. There is immense pain which is the worst symptom. The symptoms if they do occur will take up to an hour to take effect - plenty of time to get to hospital. Good on ya for not killing them! :) Stay safe though!

i cought either one of thos. or a black widow 1 month ago.... it had a bow on the bellie like a black widow, but on its back it had red dots in a line. so maby a red back and a black widow fucked....hmmm idk lol i live in northern michigan if that helps at all

@adventureCalls The biggest redbacks have an abdomen about as big as a frozen pea. Total leg span on one that big would be about 30-35mm. You should see the Huntsman spider, now that's big! some have a leg span the size of a dinner plate

The last death was in the 50s since antivenom is readily available. They will only bite in defense or if you disturbed a female with eggs, since the fangs are so small most of the time a hospital will give you anti inflams. Killing them is pointless, if you have a house/garage ect that the spiders like they will come back everytime.
