  • If I ever gallop on a horse on an open plain or a beach with this track blasting on my ipod around 2:12 - 2:45, I will die happy.

  • I've often asked myself: "Where can I go to see Tom Cruise punching a horse in the face???"

  • 1:13 OH shit!

  • the guy on the old-time bike... XD

  • This was an AMAZING scene.... simply amazing.

  • My favorite scene in the whole movie.

  • 0:34 - ow

  • I wish I could have participated in this event in my lifetime. Dangerous and possibly devastating, but really...what could make a better story?

  • 1:14, lol, poor horse, xD

  • this song is used in treasure planet =D

  • thats a fucking fast horse!

  • @mau55100 u should try going that fast.

    it's a real rush

plus it feels like ur flying

  • omg that much poepel my grand ma was in the land run but she died 10 years ago and shes was with the trails of tears she survied for only 3 days !!!wow!!!

  • Certainly the best part of the movie one of many land runs into Oklahoma and for people who don't know many land runs were for unassigned lands so don't lump all of us into land grabbers, my family came in the Run of 1889 and damn proud if it.

  • john williams is a genius

  • 1:13 oh PETA is not gonna like that

  • Firstly, John Williams really does justice to this amazing scene but even more so, this is before crap, lazy CGI took the magic out of movies. This scene is up there with the truck case from 'Raiders of the Los Ark' or Buffalo hunt from 'Dances with Wolves'. I miss old fashioned movies like these that where romantic, had old school action & full of feel good vibes. This will always be miles ahead of anything a computer will ever 'create'. You'll never, ever see anything like this scene again.

  • @robhere1982, I agree. Far and Away might have been an uneven movie, but it had moments of pure movie magic, not the least of which was this epic scene.

  • @robhere1982 I'm sure we'll see it again. Baby Boomer generation created these incredible movies and that generation has wholly influenced MY generation, The Millennials!

Like with anything, life has ebbs and flows; a cycle, if you will. And, in turn, my 20 year old brethren will be creating similar pieces of cinematic art!

Til then, Gen X'ers will create the shit we view on the big screens. Ugh.

  • tom was so handsome.

  • Lol, that would have been funny to witness.

They love to flatter themselves with the casting though.

In real life a woman like Nicole would have been trampled to death. The rough scary women would have made it.

  • John Williams did such a good job on the music for this scene!

  • For anyone who ever wondered what a "Sooner" might be, at the end of this scene Shannon's parents are "Sooners"; they snuck in before noon and picked out the best land and pretended to have run the race to get there first. Nowadays we like to think it just means we're "progressive" - Carl, Oklahoma City

  • I think it means we know how to take care of business. Get an okie around a problem, and we'll get it taken care of by hook or by crook. That's the sooner spirit.

  • I think I'd rather walk into a Remax office.....

    JK! Amazing scene!

  • Thanks for loading this scene. My old cavalry reenactment unit took part (as civilians) in the filming of this scene back in 1991 at Pryor Creek Montana. Took 2 weeks to film - most of the footage wound up on the cutting room floor. Over 1000 riders and around 250 wagons took part in this scene. Nothing compares to riding at a dead run over rough ground among hundreds of galloping horses for a rush - You just hang on and hope your horse doesn't take a tumble. 5 stars.

  • Do horses at full gallop ever stick their necks straight out?

  • of course. totally fun to race on a horse like that.

  • @grazon yes

  • awesome!
