  • he, we konw what scale use stuu now :d

  • may i ask what kind of bass is that. it sounds and looks gorgeous :D

  • FANTASTIC!!!!

  • string noise is very loud. no problem though! nice lesson

  • nice ideas here. .. good tutorial ... kinda weird, I've been noodling that first minor scale open string drone riff in different variations for at least 20 years ...

  • I didn't realize you had a dog... that thing is annoying when you're trying to listen to the bass. :p

  • @pirhala never put down dogs dude! :)

  • Very interesting knowledge. Thanks, man. :)

  • Nice!

  • beautiful acoustic bass! gotta get me an acoustic . Great tutorial MarloweDK.

  • Thanks for the tutorial!

  • emajor on ac bass so stanley clarke like XD

  • That pedosmile on the end was soooo damn great :D

  • a guy could restring his acoustic bass with flats or nylon for a fatter, rounder tone. Just saying

  • Great

  • genius,thanks so much

  • Gotta get some flats on that bitch.

  • what acoustic bass is this?

  • i like this vid

    thanks very much ><

  • thank you aiways. You teach me how I can play with music.

  • Marlowe, I acknowledge you're a talented bassist and educator but the excessive noise you make with your left hand by not lifting your fingers off the strings completely when you shift encourages young bassists to think that's an "alright" way to play the bass when it's really just sloppy technique.

  • @mindbodylightsound10 I believe this sound is normal when playing acoustic bass and when gliding and moving around the strings.. i had the same thing with my acoustic

  • @mindbodylightsound10 Lol if he took his fingers off completely it would be soo choppy haha your comment made me laugh

  • @mindbodylightsound10 settle down bro... its an acoustic

  • Excellent lesson, perfect for what I'm looking to practice. Thanks Mr. Marlow :)

  • Oh, that's not a small dog barking, that's just the finger noise.

  • marlowe, you are contributing so much to the world of bass players! thank you!!!

  • nice A-Bass!

  • Great job Marlowe!! I really enjoy every video you upload ;)

  • I remember Flea was showing this trick with one open ringing string and playing notes on the next one in his Master sessions with River Phoenix in the beginning of 90's. Sounds like mideast music a bit :)

    Beautiful anyway. Thanks MarloweDK :)

  • @NikolaiUA

    Do you have a link?

  • @andries9493 Search for "Flea master sessions" here on youtube, but it's broken in 10 pieces or so. There's the whole video out on the internet on the torrents... Google it.

  • @NikolaiUA yeah the "droning note" like a sitar, good call man

  • @clewi1091 My first thought was a rapid detach clip for a strap. It looks like it goes over the strings behind the nut, a strap clip would go under the stings. My second thought was a tie-off to dampen sympathetic vibrations from the nut to the pegs. Though I do like yekshemesh4alig's idea of a mute for the other instruments in the room while he's playing... or yeah, just wait for the man to tell us.

  • What is that around the neck where the headstock joins by the nut? Does it help with string buzz or something?

  • @clewi1091 Looks like a hair band, I believe it helps to mute you're not playing. Let's wait for an answer from the good man himself, could be something else.

  • @yekshemesh4alig Ok thanks. I see them often on here but I dont really know the purpose. You could be right. Would make sense.

  • Freaking awsome, I learned alot! Thank you! :D

  • man you play a lot, I see all his videos here in Brazil

  • LOL, never been 1st on a video. As a drummer who's just had/having more spinal surgery I have set myself the goal of learning bass over the next 6 months as I wont be playing the kit so I'll be checking out a lot of your videos!

    Take it easy

    Stick

  • @maplewoodstudio lol Stick! good choice for bass vids. i always watch this guy especially for new licks :)

  • @Brainbox97 Cheers, I've been following him for a while, great teacher and player. I just like watching great musicians do their thang, were all so unique.

    Stick
