(There are songs which sounds better with Agnetha as lead vocal, and there r songs which sounds better with Frida as lead. No such thing as "the better voice".)

What is important is that the 2 voices complement each other so beautifully that having one without the other does not sound like ABBA anymore.

Come on! The singing is LIVE! The music is not. Frida and Anna are singing. The crowd applause is probably fake, maybe done in a studio without an audience, but, the girls are definitely singing. They would do that very often in the 70's for Don Kirshnir's Rock Concert, Midnight Special and other shows in that era. Record them "live" in a studio with the original music and live singing, add some audience noise and show it as a live performance. Now, 30 + years later, it seems like it is fake.

Most definitely **NOT** live. I run a recording studio AND have played live on stage for a long time. The logistics of bringing in even a mid size orchestra on such a gig would render the act inpractical, let alone the cost. The music could be coming from a MIDI programmed synth, but that combo of rock /orchresta sounds would be much better if put together from seperate sources in a studio (for many reasons).  It's a backing track...think Karaoke on steroids.

It's hard to believe that today's generation -- those between 12 and 17, and maybe even into their early 20's don't have a good Midnight Special show any more. This really was a classic; I think the music industry would be served well if all those independent bands out of Portland, Austin, New York City, Seattle, could be showcased -- reality shows aren't that expensive....

People always ask if they ever actually sang live on TV, it was probably synched more often than not, but you can see plenty examples where it was live and they sounded great! These are two of the most beautiful voices ever backed by two of the most clever pop songwriters ever. Throw in super charismatic stage presence and you have legends........

Agreed. This appears to be live vocals sung over the studio instrumental backing tracks, which is also what they did on the version of SOS from this same show. The guys were playing along but probably weren't mic'd. And of course the tipoff is the fact that we hear drums, bass and flute but there's no one on stage playing those instruments.

Some people make fun of ABBA 'cuz they wrote "pop" tunes, but there's a craftsmanship in their songwriting that's top shelf. Great talent all around.
