It's not weird, it was a smart move on ABBA's part, it's impossible to sing "Dancing Queen" due to its multiple vocal overlays, which by the way, are fantastic.
@amesburyroad They were offered a billion dollars to re unite and tour and turned it down....Good for them, they made their point and left their mark untouched, never to be revisited unlike other super rock groups
The two most beautiful sexy ladies together in one group. I am so glad they finally are voted into the Music Hall Fame. Althought I should say SHAME for taking them this long.
(There are songs which sounds better with Agnetha as lead vocal, and there r songs which sounds better with Frida as lead. No such thing as "the better voice".)
What is important is that the 2 voices complement each other so beautifully that having one without the other does not sound like ABBA anymore.
@kkdkk7 Well then people need to stop saying Aggie was the pretty one because that is...subjective. It is my opinion that she had the better voice, and if you don't like it then go f*** off kindly :)
Frankly i personally think both girls are true beauties in their own ways. Well, unless u r trying to stir up some quarrels, perhaps next time u should add the words "I personally think.. " when u make statements of subjectivity.
Abba is the most endearing group to pple like me, by trying to rank each member's importance and level of contribution simply destroys all the great things they have done together ..
@kkdkk7 Frankly if you don't want to start any quarrels, you should never of messaged me. Just to start a arguement, that is being hypocritical. Secondly, I will state my opinion however I want regardless of who likes it or not. So please, just go milk you're little prick and gtfo lol. Frida is the best, and always will be!
@morriswb How about you go milk you're little prick and gtfo ya cunt. Before you just comment on me... Douchebag. He/she was the one who started the entire thing *rolls eyes*
@dutico ...you have me confused with someone who actually gives a flying f**k...what is your fascination with milking little pricks? Oh, yeah, of course...you have one! (I did not leave that comment dickweed!)
@dutico ..trying to decipher what you are saying is difficult...it seems you are uneducated, can't spell or compose a sensible sentence. Please spare me any further dribble! (As I said, I did not leave any comment for you or anyone else...must be my room mate...leave me alone!
@morriswb Firstly, I can put together sensible coherent sentences better then you're mom does at swallowing.
I'am only functioning on 3 hours of sleep fyi. So exscuse me for making a simple grammatical error, due to lack of sleep.Something called working two jobs and school, try it sometime.Secondly, unless you are 12, and don't know what a queef is...maybe you should take your own advice, and use a dictionary. So I will reiterate, you AND you're roomate are queefs. :D Now have argueing alone
Come on! The singing is LIVE! The music is not. Frida and Anna are singing. The crowd applause is probably fake, maybe done in a studio without an audience, but, the girls are definitely singing. They would do that very often in the 70's for Don Kirshnir's Rock Concert, Midnight Special and other shows in that era. Record them "live" in a studio with the original music and live singing, add some audience noise and show it as a live performance. Now, 30 + years later, it seems like it is fake.
Most definitely **NOT** live. I run a recording studio AND have played live on stage for a long time. The logistics of bringing in even a mid size orchestra on such a gig would render the act inpractical, let alone the cost. The music could be coming from a MIDI programmed synth, but that combo of rock /orchresta sounds would be much better if put together from seperate sources in a studio (for many reasons). It's a backing track...think Karaoke on steroids.
The vocals are live... the rest is recorded. The guitars are acoustic, but don't have mics... no cords either... no drum kit, no bass player... soooo... it's live... AND memorex..
It's hard to believe that today's generation -- those between 12 and 17, and maybe even into their early 20's don't have a good Midnight Special show any more. This really was a classic; I think the music industry would be served well if all those independent bands out of Portland, Austin, New York City, Seattle, could be showcased -- reality shows aren't that expensive....
I just subscribed. Can't thank you enough. Back in the 70's the night was Friday. The time was 12:00. And the show was "The Midnight Special. My older brother would catch it w/me some nights. He died 3 yrs. ago, so this brings back many memories.
i can sooooooo relate..1 of my fav shows ...then i went to navy bootcamp...nights when i had watch i would sneak in break room ..we had a tv there...and watch mid spec...so awesome... amongst my most fav memories of my teen youth
That was great what you said on the Abba Fernando video on the Midnight Special TV Show-- Is that Luke Skywalker playing guitar? I had a good laugh with that one, thank you. I do love Abba, but some of their costumes were---yeah, sure outlandish to say the least. Take it easy....
People always ask if they ever actually sang live on TV, it was probably synched more often than not, but you can see plenty examples where it was live and they sounded great! These are two of the most beautiful voices ever backed by two of the most clever pop songwriters ever. Throw in super charismatic stage presence and you have legends........
Agreed. This appears to be live vocals sung over the studio instrumental backing tracks, which is also what they did on the version of SOS from this same show. The guys were playing along but probably weren't mic'd. And of course the tipoff is the fact that we hear drums, bass and flute but there's no one on stage playing those instruments.
Some people make fun of ABBA 'cuz they wrote "pop" tunes, but there's a craftsmanship in their songwriting that's top shelf. Great talent all around.
