This is nonsense. You yourself open this vide clip with the words, "BASH ME AND YOU'RE DEAD." That means: "if you attack me, I will fight back." As gay people, we have a right to defend ourselves against the violence committed against us. The "bash back" message is simple: if you think you can beat us up, attack us, spit on us, call us faggots, or kill us because we are gay (and these things happen to us everyday), think again, because we will defend ourselves.

I don't think it's on the books yet that inciting anti-gay hatred qualifies as a hate crime in the same way that it would for ethnic/religious groups. It depends on the local laws and where you live, actually. I don't know Lansing, MI's laws, but legal issues aside, from a moral standpoint, I do not have any sympathy for the church's congregation (except for the children, who were probably scared and confused) and I think they reaped what they've sewn.
I don't believe homosexuality is a sin or wrong in any way and I believe anybody who uses violence against gays should be severely punished. That said, I think stupid intolerant people unfortunately, have the right ot be intolerant so long as they are not inciting violence. Speech needs to directly incite violence before I think it's appropriate to use force (e.g. trespassing) against it. And I just don't think churches do that. Intolerant ministers are assholes, but not VIOLENT assholes.

Read Revelations The best that can happen is that its slowed down or delayed some decades or more, but our children are already exposed and experimenting. I don't think it's on the books yet that inciting anti-gay hatred qualifies as a hate crime in the same way that it would for ethnic/religious groups. It depends on the local laws and where you live, actually. I don't know Lansing, MI's laws, but legal issues aside, from a moral standpoint, I do not have any sympathy for the church's congregation (except for the children, who were probably scared and confused) and I think they reaped what they've sewn.

Speech needs to directly incite violence before I think it's appropriate to use force (e.g. trespassing) against it. And I just don't think churches do that. Intolerant ministers are assholes, but not VIOLENT assholes.

Well here's the thing. When someone uses the pulpit to agitate for action against a certain group of people, particularly a minority, where do you draw the line? How does an open society function when it tolerates the intolerant who wish to destroy the very idea of tolerance?
In the 21st Century, there's no room for people who believe this stuff. Something's gotta change, and I don't think we can just let these people spew this shit anymore if we're going to have a civilization.

And what would it have done??? the police don't do anything! then never do. Most churches don't approve of homosexuality - some just want to voice it more - it's a great way to get more followers. No we need to be militant - someone has to - they've got Phelps after all.

While I disagree with churches who are intolerant (assholes), their right to practice their religion/speech has to be respected, just as homosexuals' rights to live life as they choose needs to be respected as well. Obviously any VIOLENCE against homosexuals should be punished SEVERELY but I just don't think it's right using force (trespassing) against non-violent intolerant (asshole) speech. I hate being put in a position to defend an intolerant church but this group's actions make me.

I mean, all the groups that think being gay is a "choice," or that you can make people straight through some kind of Christian sexual rehab, are simply, well, wrong. The American Medical Association's psychologists did a report on that and found it did MORE damage trying to program someone's sexuality...
Homosexuals are real, they're not going anywhere, we have to deal with it. I don't see who homos hurt by being homos.

These people are the reason prop 8 passed. A lot of people had sympathy for gays and were ready to vote no on 8. but then they saw crap like disrupting a church or knocking old ladies to the ground and said, "Screw them".

I'm a member of Bash Back and we arent the terrorists!! I grew up in the bible belt with so called christian republicans encouraging me to committ suicide and preaching that all LGBT people were diseased and going to hell, it wasnt uncommon to see a bumper sticker on someones truck that read "aids is gods cure for fags", Bash Back fights back against oppression and discrimination and does what many cowardly conformist queer people are too afraid to do-STAND UP AND BE HEARD!!
