A pit bull attacked my poodle when she was 2 months old, the pit is a female as well, the vet said that's the reason why she attacked 'cause she didn't even try to bite me or anything and i should mention that i was obviously trying to protect my puppy at all cost so..she could've caused some serious damage to me but she didn't ..things like this are ridiculous, not all dogs are the same and it's unfair to say that all pit bulls are dangerous dogs. If you want to drive you need license because it's potentially harmful. The same should apply with dogs. If you own one you should spend some time with mandatory training. it's no harm for the owner or the dog. All breeds have specific characteristics though. ie Sighthounds have strong instinct to chase anything moving and no owner would deny it. I don't understand why plenty of large terriers owners simply refuse to accept fact that all terriers are natural fighters no matter how big they are.

Many Pitbulls attack if you're simply in their perceived territory. The kid probably did nothing but walk by. I used to work for a utility in southern california and in 2007 90 percent of our dog bites and attacks were from pitbulls breaking confinement. All owners are somewhat at fault but it's mostly that breed's demeanor. They need to be trained properly and I'd say less than 10 percent are. I've seen them jump 10ft walls to attack dogs and or people walking by.

Well, if the kid had indeed taunted the dog in the past, the dog probably felt threatened at the sight of him. Also keep two things in mind: 1- Dogs don't care about property lines. Their territory stops where they (or another, bigger dog) says it does. The kid may have been on public property, but in the dog's mind he was encroaching. 2- It was a Pit mix, which in most "Pit Bull" attacks is usually the case. Pure blooded APBTs and Staffy's rarely snap the way the mixed breeds will.

It wasn't until a bunch of asshat thugs started breeding the aggressiveness in them, around 30-40 yrs ago. The thing that separates these dogs from other aggressive breeds (German Shepherds, Doberman, Rotts) is the tendency of the pits to grab hold and rend, and their unwillingness to let go... even attacking their owners in their fury, in many cases.

And my neighbor lost a Jack Russell to a running pit bull. You just don't see dogs like labs doing that. A burmese python MIGHT not harm anyone either. That's why pitbulls and other large potentially dangerous breeds should only be sold to people who undergo a proper dog training course, and know how to raise a dog to be submissive.

If you research pits, you'll discover that pit bulls naturally desire human attention / affection. Any dog that is raised incorrectly or neglected will act out. We have one breed that has surpassed all other breeds in dog attacks and fatalities. Not only that, there dog aggression makes them completely incompatible with today's modern society. If you want to drive you need license because it's potentially harmful. The same should apply with dogs. If you own one you should spend some time with mandatory training. it's no harm for the owner or the dog. All breeds have specific characteristics though. ie Sighthounds have strong instinct to chase anything moving and no owner would deny it. I don't understand why plenty of large terriers owners simply refuse to accept fact that all terriers are natural fighters no matter how big they are.

Many Pitbulls attack if you're simply in their perceived territory. The kid probably did nothing but walk by. I used to work for a utility in southern california and in 2007 90 percent of our dog bites and attacks were from pitbulls breaking confinement. All owners are somewhat at fault but it's mostly that breed's demeanor. They need to be trained properly and I'd say less than 10 percent are. I've seen them jump 10ft walls to attack dogs and or people walking by.

Well, if the kid had indeed taunted the dog in the past, the dog probably felt threatened at the sight of him. Also keep two things in mind: 1- Dogs don't care about property lines. Their territory stops where they (or another, bigger dog) says it does. The kid may have been on public property, but in the dog's mind he was encroaching. 2- It was a Pit mix, which in most "Pit Bull" attacks is usually the case. Pure blooded APBTs and Staffy's rarely snap the way the mixed breeds will.

@flynnt77 if its true it explains WHY the dog attacked but not why the dog is on a frontporch without supervision, I seriously feel like this dog should not return to its orginal owners obviously they cannot keep their dog safe. I'm a pitbull lover and a pitbull mix owner but i don't believe this owner is capable of keeping the dog contained and from now on muzzled and leashed when off property.

See the first 30 seconds they say people friendly but not friendly to other dogs! I've owned pitbulls before there amazing but very protective of there territory. My dog wouldn't touch anything until it touched paw on the property, once that happened it was a battle!

It wasn't until a bunch of asshat thugs started breeding the aggressiveness in them, around 30-40 yrs ago. The thing that separates these dogs from other aggressive breeds (German Shepherds, Doberman, Rotts) is the tendency of the pits to grab hold and rend, and their unwillingness to let go... even attacking their owners in their fury, in many cases.

First of all there was a witness there who saved that boy when he was being attacked. The witness did not report that the boy was harassing the dog, he reported the boy was riding by and the dog ran off the porch to attack him. Let's not make up facts. Also, lions shouldn't be pets.

And my neighbor lost a Jack Russell to a running pit bull. You just don't see dogs like labs doing that. A burmese python MIGHT not harm anyone either. Or, just like a pitbull, it just takes the right circumstances for disaster to happen. That's why pitbulls and other large potentially dangerous breeds should only be sold to people who undergo a proper dog training course, and know how to raise a dog to be submissive.

A dog's intelligence can be similar to that of a three year old's. If you saw a three year old biting people, I think there would be some blame accessed to the parents. A dog is legally owned by someone, such as a child is considered to belong to their parents.
The owners should be fined for the rehabilitation of the dog!

If you research pits, you'll discover that pit bulls naturally desire human attention / affection. Any dog that is raised incorrectly or neglected will act out. One celebrity makes a terrible decision to fight these dogs, and the publicity for pit bulls as aggressive dogs floods the media. Visit a shelter, see abandoned pits crying for attention. You'll change your mind

If you got two legs and walk upright, you're pretty safe (especially if you have a snack of some kind). If you got four legs and sniff ass cracks, you gotta go.
