Hi my name is Jon and u have an early wind bar design. This generation system becomes very popular in the future. They are used to power l.e.d. floors. Low wattage displays. Just much smaller for viability
nice work. i've made a few turbines like this, and in my experience, the circles you have at the top and bottom were tremendous leeches of power and rpm. have you tried building this design without some of that excess material? i would make 3 arms that are only as wide as necessary. just a thought. happy tinkering!
Hi, I am trying a version without the circles now. I wanted to get the wings out further to see if the leverage increased the speed. I should have it done in a week or so.
whew...check out the rotation on that.. im impressed... one question...when you put a alternator attachment to it, doesnt it need to be geared??? maybe i missed something
It has magnets on the bottom and a stationary coil beneath the magnets. I need to raise the coil now because it is too far away from the magnets and then hopefully we will get some juice from this. In less than a week I hope to post another video showing the electrical generation for this vawt.
Dude that is the Nicest View I have EVER SEEN!

hi man, so are the magnets spinning around copper to produce electricity?.....
good design....keep it up....

Can you create a video on how to make this type of VAWT? Thanks

Hey EmbeddedProgrammer,
I like your videos but notice nothing much in the way of updates in over a year. Are you still involved in testing?
I would like to build a turbine capable of a 5kW output. What sort of size and weight would they have to be to achieve that goal?
You mentioned each form factor had advantages... would a combination of the two give better results?
Please advise!

could someone direct me on where i should go to get info on airfoils?

Google for 'NACA airfoil sections'. A popular one for VAWTs is NACA 0018 because it is symmetrical.
