Durbin just has an annoying voice, and does not sing all that well. Yes, he can get up there with his notes, but they need to be correct! He is a great performer though.
Thia's was boring. Not that good.
Casey is my favorite. He did a great job at Your Song. He SHOULD have been saved. He's just the best of the bunch.
Jacob. He needs to stick to gospel and church, and not go pro.
Haley. My other top favorite. Benny and the Jetts was AMAZING.
Stefano is just plain awful. This was his ONLY good performance, and one good performance does not make a music entertainer.

But, don't try to act like you know what you're talking about (which I'm not saying you are.) Now, her rendition of Candle In The Wind? Yeaaaaaaah, no. Naima. I just agree on the fact of it being bad (to quote Randy: pitchy), but you can't say it seems forced. It's her culture. Little wrong to criticize that.
Paul. Sorry, man, but Rocket Man was not for him, but I do enjoy his very unique voice. It brings something to the table.
Pia is better at ballads than Thia. Thia's performance was not that good this time around with her rendition of Daniel, unlike Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me by Pia...very good.
I'm glad you choose to post your opinion, so don't listen to the haters. I would like to comment on each person you critiqued. First of all you have Scotty, who happens to share my name (thumbs up), who sang Country Comfort. This was probably his best performance with the exception of Letters From Home. However, I'm not a huge fan of him personally because he really can't do much else with his voice, unlike Josh Turner, a country singer with a voice much like his, can by going up in octaves.

I'm glad Haley is finally being recognized as a good and talented singer. I compltley agree she was the best of the night, and has been my favorite since 'God Bless the Child' in Hollywood Week.

@zebracrunk The treadmill will make you thinner but I think the problem is the glasses combined with the hair. Black nerd glasses traditionally go with a cleaner, more conservative haircut and they don't work with scruffy, surfer-dude hair. One or the other should go. Just my opinion BUT it's coming from a guy who looked sorta like you and had your image when I was a teenager. I was girl repellent back then but now the girls chase me :)

I totally agree about Scotty McCountry, he went for the obvious. I'll be glad the day he picks a pop or RnB song and MAKES it country, with his supposed "great instincts". I really enjoyed Naima's performances though... she wasn't breathing right when she was on stage, but I'm looking forward to seeing what she does in the future. Hailey surprised the CRAP out of me, and I was really surprised Stefano didn't butcher that song (my fav from Elton)! He's just not in the same league as the others...
you said that you're not familiar with music...perhaps look up the songs after the show so you have the original in mind as you're critiquing the performance. (Candle in the Wind is Elton's biggest selling single, it is a slow song, and Lauren nailed it!) but i agree 100% with your opinions on James. we've already seen him from Adam Lambert...
Paul, Lauren, and Casey are my favorites. Paul and Casey are very authentic in their voices and style and Lauren's voice is just incredible.

@mrsbuckmaster not true at all. Our top selling Idol Kelly Clarkson has done rock, pop, country, ballads you name it. Then again no other idol has sold over 20 million records so that is a pretty high mountain to climb. But my point is someone like Haley/Jacob that is diverse in their singing and what they can deliver will reach more people then Scotty will. He's a great country singer but that's all he is =/. Carrie is also a good example of a country singer branching out...

Durbin just has an annoying voice, and does not sing all that well. Yes, he can get up there with his notes, but they need to be correct! He is a great performer though.
Thia's was boring. Not that good.
Casey is my favorite. He did a great job at Your Song. He SHOULD have been saved. He's just the best of the bunch.
Jacob. He needs to stick to gospel and church, and not go pro.
Haley. My other top favorite. Benny and the Jetts was AMAZING.

Naima. I just agree on the fact of it being bad (to quote Randy: pitchy), but you can't say it seems forced. It's her culture. Little wrong to criticize that.
Paul. Sorry, man, but Rocket Man was not for him, but I do enjoy his very unique voice. It brings something to the table.
Pia is better at ballads than Thia. Thia's performance was not that good this time around with her rendition of Daniel, unlike Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me by Pia...very good.

I'm glad you choose to post your opinion, so don't listen to the haters. I would like to comment on each person you critiqued. First of all you have Scotty, who happens to share my name (thumbs up), who sang Country Comfort. This was probably his best performance with the exception of Letters From Home. However, I'm not a huge fan of him personally because he really can't do much else with his voice, unlike Josh Turner, a country singer with a voice much like his, can by going up in octaves.

@zebracrunk The treadmill will make you thinner but I think the problem is the glasses combined with the hair. Black nerd glasses traditionally go with a cleaner, more conservative haircut and they don't work with scruffy, surfer-dude hair. One or the other should go. Just my opinion BUT it's coming from a guy who looked sorta like you and had your image when I was a teenager. I was girl repellent back then but now the girls chase me :)

I totally agree about Scotty McCountry, he went for the obvious. I'll be glad the day he picks a pop or RnB song and MAKES it country, with his supposed "great instincts". I really enjoyed Naima's performances though... she wasn't breathing right when she was on stage, but I'm looking forward to seeing what she does in the future. Hailey surprised the CRAP out of me, and I was really surprised Stefano didn't butcher that song (my fav from Elton)! He's just not in the same league as the others...

you said that you're not familiar with music...perhaps look up the songs after the show so you have the original in mind as you're critiquing the performance. (Candle in the Wind is Elton's biggest selling single, it is a slow song, and Lauren nailed it!) but i agree 100% with your opinions on James. we've already seen him from Adam Lambert...
Paul, Lauren, and Casey are my favorites. Paul and Casey are very authentic in their voices and style and Lauren's voice is just incredible.

@mrsbuckmaster not true at all. Our top selling Idol Kelly Clarkson has done rock, pop, country, ballads you name it. Then again no other idol has sold over 20 million records so that is a pretty high mountain to climb. But my point is someone like Haley/Jacob that is diverse in their singing and what they can deliver will reach more people then Scotty will. He's a great country singer but that's all he is =/. Carrie is also a good example of a country singer branching out...

@zebracrunk I really like your take on the competition. The ONLY one of your opinions I didn't agree with was Paul. I don't think he has much singing talent at all, and I predicted him to be in the bottom 3. Like you, I also am tired of Scotty McCreery's country thing. Not a fan of Durbin or Lusk. I think Lauren has to be the front runner to win it all. If it were up to me after that, Pia would come in second and Haley (SEX!) third. Good job with your predictions!

I like Lauren but not that performance, I dislike most of Hailey's stuff and this was no exception. Love Casey. Loved Paul's Rocket Man but am not his biggest fan.
Jacob and Pia both have powerhouse vocals and can work the audience. Stefano has a great voice but is not a good performer. other than that..we actually mostly agree tho we are decades apart!!
