Happy Birthday, Alexis!!! I hope you get your rhythms worked out. Yeah, that does make such a big difference. Now that I'm getting more in touch with my body, I've found that food combinations DO make such a huge impact. Green smoothies really are a miracle food, don't you think? Now I'm an addict. I've had one just about everyday since July 25, and I'm not stoppin'! Enjoy your yoga!!
globelle, Thank you very much. Yes. I think green smoothies are super foods, because the nutrients are so much more bioavailable in a blended form. And of course you can add super foods to them, like blue green algae and spirulina.
First of all, let me wish you a HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY! And congratulations on getting into a yoga class 4 days a week. I am looking forward to hearing about it.
Honestly, if you don't tell ppl your age they will never know. You look so much younger and your skin is perfect (no spots, no dark circle under eyes, smooth skin, and your skin looks very tight-no wrinkles). I am so happy I am raw too, it has a lot of benefits.
I notice that I do get gaseous sometimes too, I'm just thinking that I might need a colon cleanse....eew! LOL!
Thank you so much! I actually do have dark circles under my eyes but they are genetic and a characteristic of my heritage. So are my great big alien eyes. :) My birthday is August 19th. I will probably get a colonic soon, but first I will work on my eating habits and see if that helps.
Hey Alexis, I had the same problem sleeping when I was working in my family business so I could basically do what I wanted as long as I get the job done. I use to wake up like 2 or 3pm. I decided that I had to change my sleep cycle if I wanted to get done in the day, so I just did not sleep for one day and night so for the next night I went to sleep by 9pm and woke up at 7am which was great. After my sleep cycle changed totally. Also, I avoid napping in the day time so I am tired by night time.
simsue, Thank you for your suggestion. I have been going to bed a littler earlier every night and waking up a little earlier each day. Today I woke up at 8am, which is pretty good. Within a few days, I should be waking up at 6am. :)
I understand that this is a personal question and you might not want to answer--that is totally fine--I was just curious about what you worked on when you stayed up so late during your childhood? :/ I'm sorry.
---
As for yoga- I had the exact same experience that you did! It made me feel SO GOOD when I woke up in the morning and did an hour of yoga. I feel like exercise, in general, has a huge impact on our well-being (mental and physical); it's like exponential in benefits!
Now that I am raw, I am really excited about yoga. If it affected me so wonderfully when I was cooked, imagine what both 100% raw and daily yoga can do!
I don't mind answering your question. Depending on my age and what crazy schemes my parents were cooking up, I was either delivering papers (3600 of them each night), sewing, preparing food for hundreds, janitorial work, cleaning the house, or being abused in some way. Before I was old enough to work, I was kept up by loud, drunk parties.
I don't get bloated when I have green smoothies though, so I wonder how much of it has to do with the enormous amount of chewing required to break down raw veggies and greens? I am having the most awesome savory green smoothie for breakfast. Celery, zuchini, spinach, green onion, green pepper, cayenne, and a pinch (not too much!) of sea salt. Yumm! And it's already chewed (I still chew it a little).
The main raw book i have is Natalia Rose's Raw Food Detox Diet (otherwise I get most info from the net). While it's geared toward transitioning, she goes into combining food categories pretty thoroughly. She also says that most newbies often won't much notice the effects of ill combinations, and becoming aware of the nuances will come as you get to know yourself better, maybe a couple years down the road- so it's cool you're so in tune!
Thank you very much. I have that book but never read it. I was going to give it to my sister in law, but I may read it first. thank you for the suggestion.
raw foods, breathing fresh air and staying in the sun J drinking pure water, doing sports (also outdoors!), positive thinking, loving yourself, setting goals, doing things that you love, spend time with people you love and spend time with yourself, being thankful, having a good relationship (not absolutely necessary *lol*), body care (so good for body and soul!), sleeping enough and at the right time, regular meals...
about raw food: I try to eat more greens (!) and superfoods, very little nuts and seeds and dried fruits. not more than 1 table spoon of oil (don't forget omega-3s!) a day.
you are so right: it's not all about the food! :D I'd say: "you are what you eat, what you think and what you do" ^^
I totally understand what you're going through right now. I mean, I don't have gases or a huge stomach or something *lol* (and I think you are exaggerated a little bit here *lol*)
I think, it's great that you try to do more exercise like yoga - and what about running? Brenda Davis recommends 30-60 min per day! it's important for bones and muscles! and do a lot of stretching :))

Thanks! I need to stop with meal overlapping and poor food combining too. I have been bloated too.
