over-rated trumpet player... he plays the same patterns incessantly with no thought behind it. Also- anyone else get tired of the fact that he constantly sounds like a poor imitation of Miles?
:| anyone else notice it's a girl drumming?! Must admit the first time i watched it i only saw Chris and Sting, but this time i see more. Noticed the guy doing just fingersnapping surrounded by a couple of microphones? Hilarious sight...
I've never heard that last verse before. I feel like it explains the whole song, unveils the mystery. I'm diggin' Chris and Sting. Always have, always will. An amazing partnership.
@lifesong91 CB is super talented and his entire life is trumpet / music!! That's total dedication. In one interview he said he still lives like a world nomadic musician...He's also gorgeous IMHO. A girl can dream....he he he...
@lifesong91 I'm pretty sure he does that using "circular breathing", though I couldn't see his nose doing anything. I thought it was an impossible myth in high school, but apparently some can breathe in through the nose while forcing air out (buzzing, not blowing) the mouth. The poor lungs and red blood cells don't get much oxygen during circular breathing. ;- P
around 1:21, Sting sounded like Louis Armstrong for a split second. From then on, the song was freaking AMAZING. Actually, the entire thing is just awesome, keeps getting better.
You think so? I was thinking that I could play that if I was good looking and had a slick recording contract. Chirs Botti would get smashed at real Jazz jam.
Have you ever heard him play "real jazz"? Didn't think so... I know people who have, and they are good musicians, and they tell me he's a motherfucker.
Hey "danglelow" my band plays real jazz. In fact some folks say we've got the best band on youtube. I don't know about that, but from personal exerience I can tell you two things:
1) Botti IS a MF
2) Being attractive is a huge help in having a career in music. I don't know where we'd be right now if not for our good looks and charm. Probably be working in a factory somewhere.
I think qualifications for a "real Jazz "Player doesn't include having shitty looks..So what if he got good looks?..And the best musicians I know NEVER say their fellow musicians MF..That's just wrong..Jazz is all about bending rules..so what you so called good musicians may be bad for others..respect each other art, and calling names are for children..peace..

Ofcourse it's no Ella Fitzgerald/Louise Armstrong combination but these two are probably the best duet of this generation.
Well, actually Sting represents the previous generation but stil...you know..
What I'm trying to say is: together these two artist are (even) better than they are apart.
WorldWideWish 2 years ago 5
Of course, that goes without saying. But to say that one is better than another another is a deservice. They are all extraordinadinary, enjoy!

I'd be really curious to see Botti outside of what seems to be his comfort zone, music-wise (by that I mean cool-vibe stuff).
To those hating on him, not sure what to say. I have his CD sitting on my shelf, and not likely yours.
