  • Hi Freddy; I was wondering how you generate your backing tracks.

Band in a Pocket, etc. Robert

  • @mrtelecaster01 i use band in a box software . just type in the chords .

  • Hi Fred! I'm thinking of posting some things on youtube. What equipment do I need?Besides my guitar and amp of course.

  • hi jkip44 . you need a netcam or a pc with a built in camera.most of my videos were done with a "logitech quickcam fusion" with usb input.

  • Really Amazing.. . i keep listen to this song every day , you should really make records.

  • thx indoratek ! don't listen to it too much or you'll start hearing all the mistakes. lol !

  • GO FREDDIE GO.....you da man. Nobody does JaZZ guitar better.

  • your very kind. thank you BoojWaZEE !

  • Very good :)

  • thank you burnt62 :-)

  • Fred,

Do you have the chords for this song. I notice that on all your utubes you are playing lead. The other people playing it are just amateurs. Any help appreciated.

    Hippydog

P.S. Where do you get your backtracks if I might ask.

  • @hippydog3 i make the backing tracks myself with "band in a box".

i already sent you the chrds.i'll send em again.look in your inbox

  • @hippydog3 just look under more info here.it shows the chords

  • Teary teary. God is awesome.

  • thx for listening jPapa2008 !

  • @freddym223 No, thank you freedy, I am just about to start playing running bass lines. Appreciated the chords but it won't be an easy ride. I play by ear (no reading and had to work on scales/chords for this gendre). Thank you.

  • OK. Good. I have an iMac and it comes with Garage Band, which others tell me is "very basic," but, I am having a hard time figuring out how to make it work. It's likely just me, I am a newbie at this stuff. So, I am looking for software that is easier than Garage Band. Thx, for your opinion, Freddy.

  • SCNP BIAB is EZ.i couldnt figure out garage band on my wifes mac.

  • OK Thanks. Do you find "Band In A Box" is easy to use or no?

  • Freddy, is "band in a box" better than (ie, easier than) "Garage Band"? Or, do they work the same way?

  • sorry SCNP ! no experience with G-B :-(

  • SCNP ,but B-IN-A-BOX is easy for even a dummy like me to understand

  • Freddy, this is great ! Thank you very much. I'm in Switzerland, more and more into easy Jazztunes and love your playin'. But also, i appreciate your attitude and your comments. I feel you as a very humble person. Question: In another video, you explained the chords of "nearness of you" and mentionned, that chords are on your website. I can't find your website. Can you post the link? Would be highly appreciated. Have a great day and thanks for playin' and sharing.

  • Freddy, what track are you playing with in the background? It's really nice. Your lead is just great!

  • thx SCNP ! i make my own backup using "band in a box"

  • I'll do that. I have been studying your lessons and am currently on lesson 7. They are very easy to understand and I appreciate your taking the time to share your knowledge with all of us. Thank you, very much. It is great fun to learn this musical information.

  • Thx for giving us the chords! I really enjoyed listening to this one, very nice ----- as usual! :)

  • thx SCNP ! check my lesson #9 on this tune

  • Hi Freddy. I have been working on the song The Nearness Of You and I took your chord arrangement and put it in Band In A Box to make me a rhythm track and I am going to do a version with guitar and steel guitar. I only wish that I could have learned this back before my wife passed away so I could share it with her. Again thank you so much for your help. God Bless.

  • thx d10msaclassic ! these are the same chords i put in BIAB.please send me your video of this tune when you finish it

  • I certainly will.

  • That was beautiful. I love that kind of jazz melody.I think a great musician can express more with less. I really don't care for songs that try to squeeze as many notes in a minute. I would go to hear you play at a nightclub. Thank you!

  • thx katanakeith ! when i was younger i played too many notes, but i grew out of that way of playing

  • Thats real nice playing ,a beautiful melody ,and a nice impro,Freddy ,maybe about 3 weeks I play this too on You Tube,I have no backup ,so I play it in Fingerstyle,I let you know when its on You Tube Iam a Big Fan of you.Kees

  • thx Kees ! i'm subscribed to you,so i'll know when you post it

  • so far beyond amazing

you never cease to amaze me

all of the guitar "shredders" could stand to learn a big lesson from listening to the beautiful, elegant, melodic simplicity in your style.

Thank you (and your wife) for sharing all the beautiful music you guys create.

  • Thankyou so much BoojWaZEE ! your words are music to our ears! and thanks for favorites!

  • Thanks for providing us with this valuable information, Freddy. Love that lick at the end of the melody, I never quite got to it on the violin. Me and Col will get onto this soon, we're building up quite a tidy repetoire of your tunes! He's really good with jazz chords... I'm not so good - the memory doesn't seem to work at the moment.

Meanwhile the Trio is still busy. I'm doing poster artwork - great fun! - Playing this Saturday at a favourite gig..gonna do Sweet G. Brown..

  • Freddy, this was exceptional. I wish I could come close to getting that kind of tone. Great phrasing. You own this tune! 5*

    Paul

  • Thanks Paul, but if it wasnt for our mutual amigo,Jazzguts i would still be getting a crappy tone like i had on my first videos

  • freddy, that was freakin sublime, IMHO that was probably youre best on Youtube. i have yet to hear a jazz guitar tone that can touch that, and those subtle sweeps just enough of them , perfect pefect perfect.

  • by it yourself cheapskate. LOL its a jim dunlop nylon 38mm paper thin pick that robert conti sent me.

  • I use Jim Dunlop 1 mm picks... nice and thick! OK, send me three of your skinny picks and I'll glue them together. I'm no cheapskate... I'll buy the glue! LOL & 8-)
