The United States and Canada are too of the largest, most cultural diverse nations on earth, encompassing nationalities ranging from Italians to Chinese to Japanese to English to German to Russians and so on almost to the smallest ethnicities on earth. They not only haven't collapsed, but have been among the foremost economic success stories of the past two centuries.

my point exactly. The US and Canada, have controlled democracies. In the US, 2 parties are allowed, any more are excluded by the electorial system. Still, in these countries, people are educated, it is mostly white and christian, and people have very similar views on life and a similar outlook. Now go force a democracy on Iraq and what do you get? People running around cutting each others heads off.

Beside, US doesnt even have a true democracy. It is a republic. Why do we have a republic? Do you know anything about amaerican history? I doubt. The founding fathers said the average person was not smart enough to understand what was best for the country and vote in an appropriate manner. In other words, the founding fathers thought the average person in the US was too stupid for a true democracy. For this reason, we have a republic. Read James Madison in the Federalist papers#10.

It's very good the United States defeated Japan. Japan's war was murderous, killing tens of millions of innocent people and intending to turn all of Asia into a Japanese colony. The defeat meant that Japan took another course and is now peaceful. Losing a war is not always a bad thing.

Initially, Japan had no intention to fight the US. But Japan did not anticipate that the US would interfere with its military expansion in Asia. But the US could not endure Japanese power extending widely in Asia because it would threaten US power area. So, the war is a result of the power collision between the US and Japan. This is not so simple story that Japanas unilaterally andsuddenly attack the US. The US also tried to crush Japan by cutting oil exports.

this is nothing new. everybody in the US knows this story. The US uses its financial power to influence government policy in foreign countries. We do it all the time, to major human rights offenders such as South Africa, political enemies such as North Korea, Cuba, etc. The US saw Japan commiting terrible attrocities, unspeakable crimes against humanity, in China, and all over the Pacific rim. The US took steps to influence that policy by choosing selectively who we do business with.

The uS was lucky since japan was a bad boy before the WWII. But the core issue was that the US was also a bad guy which captures and colonized weak countries like Hawai, Phlippines and tried to expand its power to China seeking China as its economic slave. But Japan was also expanding its power to China and furthe rexpanded its powe to Asian and Pacific area.
The US did not intend to be a hero but the US was trying to abolish the enemy which was doing the same thing.

Yamamoto once stayed in the US as Navy diplomat. When the Emperor ase Yamamotoabout the war, he replied that he could not continue the war more than one year. Yamamot was jut one of the navy officers who predicted that japan would not bw able to win, They knew it but they had to fight.

The Japanese massacres in China were not equivalent; they were horrible, but the aim was never to kill off all Chinese. Moreover, frankly, the mainland Chinese government today overuses the subject to distract attention from the tens of millions who were murdered under their own rule in the years after 1945. I feel sympathy for the victims, but I'm tired of Japan's occupation being used to con people today.

Many Chinese were killed under Japanese occupation, but you don't establish puppet governments to rule people if you intend for them ALL to die. The two are not equivalent. Nor is it equivalent to Rwanda.

I realize you'll likely respond that the two are not related, but I disagree. By routinely harping on Japanese war crimes from many decades ago, the CCP distracts attention from their own much more recent crimes. They keep people raging against hated foreigners so they don't have a chance to closely examine when it was their own countrymen leaving them to starve to death en masse. Japanese crimes must be remembered, but they must not be used to bury the crimes of others, as they are now.

They kept taking food from starving peasants even during of the famine. They shipped a large amount of grain to the Soviet Union at the height of the Great Famine in order to pay for Mao's various dreams of superpowerdom. That's murder. Tens of millions of Chinese died as a result. This is leaving out the atrocities of the 文革.
Mao is still officially celebrated in the CCP despite this. Compare that to the pressure Japan has always been under. The CCP still actively hides mass murder.
