  • brilliant!

  • makes me smile :)

  • It's a song I remember fondly from schooldays; and I like the backing-music added here.

  • just a joke, sorry.

  • john bunyan, the true antichrist.

  • @arriscado75 "antiChrist," why?

  • @arriscado75 You've made a damning accusation. Have you the courage to explain why?

  • The distinctive voice of Maddy Prior. Who sang with Steeleye Span on Guadete and All around my hat !!

  • the best version I have heard, thanks

  • For some reason I found this recording delightful. I would like to hear Charlie Zahm sing it.

  • The 3rd verse is :----

Since, Lord, Thou dost defend us with Thy Spirit, We know we at the end, shall life inherit. Then fancies flee away! I’ll fear not what men say, I’ll labor night and day to be a pilgrim.

  • The 1st 2 verses of the lyric are:----

He who would valiant be ’gainst all disaster, Let him in constancy follow the Master. There’s no discouragement shall make him once relent His first avowed intent to be a pilgrim.

Who so beset him round with dismal stories Do but themselves confound—his strength the more is. No foes shall stay his might; though he with giants fight, He will make good his right to be a pilgrim.

  • Beautiful

  • Anyone know where I can buy this song? iTunes doesn't have it :(

  • @leelum1990 Try Amazon, in their mp3 downloads section.

  • THEN FANCIES FLEE AWAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!

This is my favorite of the hymns thta we sing at school. ;)

  • Hobgoblin nor foul fiend

    Can daunt his spirit,

He knows he at the end

    Shall life inherit.

    Then fancies fly away,

He’ll fear not what men say,

    He’ll labor night and day

    To be a pilgrim.

  • The original text from Pilgrim’s Progress: Who would true valour see, Let him come hither; One here will constant be, Come wind, come weather There’s no discouragement Shall make him once relent His first avowed intent To be a pilgrim. Whoso beset him round With dismal stories Do but themselves confound; His strength the more is. No lion can him fright, He’ll with a giant fight, He will have a right To be a pilgrim.
  • Thanks for making this classic song available. My 17½ year old son woke up with this tune in his head and I wanted to show him the lyrics because he did not know the song. Now I'll call him in the room to let him hear it too! How good is this! Praise the Lord!

  • Great! Sounds like Maddy Prior.

  • I love this! I'm posting to Facebook! Thanks so much for all the work in putting this together! Now looking over your other videos. God bless!
