Embarking on a project before you have costs agreed is a huge risk, especially with a long-term one like this. Lesson is that the cost of hiring a professional project manager would have been less than the costly errors made here.
Why is it that homeowners think they know more about building than architects and contractors?? This woman is a nit wit .. No architect in his right mind would want to work with her..
the fault is obviously on the build manager, i feel sorry for the builder, its a shame the owners cannot deal with their own errors, the architect supplied plans and the build manger is in charge of implementing them correctly, not anyone else. But that aside its an interesting and beautiful project.
I don't like the way they treat Jane. I think all those men - architect and film narrator - are so happy she made a mistake: oh you stupid women; you should have ask a man for advice because only man is able to do this job! Would they talk about this mistake so much if it was made by a man?
yes. the host is like this to everyone. theres so many things that can go wrong with building a house, and it becomes even more difficult when the client decides to project manage
Yes, absolutely. It is a gigantic mistake, and as the build manager she is ultimately responsible. The real question is would you have considered it sexually motivated criticism if it was directed towards a man rather than a woman. I find it absurd that fair criticism of a woman is automatically construed as sexism.
Well she is an idiot, biting more than she could chew. Bringing the costs to the original quotation. This is not about sex, this is about acknowledging your limits and accept the judgment of experts
I''m surprised the Architect even worked with her at all

A 20,000 pound mistake.
With concrete.
That didn't solve the problem they had.
250,000 seemed a little optimistic.
