  • this is well good.... not as good as natalie but its the best live version, this seems like a difficult song they all seem to have struggled apart from her and natalie weiss

  • Why are people picking at every little thing instead of enjoying the AMAZING talent she has? Appreciate, not hate :) <3

  • why wasnt SHE on the recording?????????

  • @MTobsessed yes, but she sang my heart is split with Meghann Fahy. Beautifully may i add :)

  • Lauras' version is the best by far. Acting, tone, pitch, commitment...flawless.

  • I would be use more diction. I could barely understand what she's singing

  • does anyone know her range? beautiful

  • .. for some, what's apparent is the quivering of the muscles just below the jaw line.. like that of Michael Ball and thats just a variant. What is not acceptable and is evidently forced, is head shaking during a vibratto. This can be corrected by proper technique with a good voice teacher. Laura is a good singer with a really nice timbre, her quivering jaw does not hamper at all her excellent rendition.

  • Its funny when some of you comment that the jaw shouldnt shake when doing a vibratto.. well its true that some singers do it intentionally to make an ostentatious performance... BUT please do your research, there really are singers whose quivering jaw during a vibratto is not intentional.. it results from dual innervation.. same nerve conducting the impulses for the vibratto skill also have motor innervation for the muscles of the jaw. This may be the case for Laura, Lea Salonga & a few others..

  • @exodus217 Or it's jaw tension that either wasn't fixed during training or unable to be fixed (jaw shaking is a pretty clear indicator of TMJ in a singer). Looking at how much her jaw is chomping away on the notes that aren't sustained, I'm going with a problem that never got fixed.

And head shaking during oftentimes is the singer trying to release tension, not manufacture vibrato. Not really acceptable during a performance but it's better than them tensing up and not getting through the song.

  • @tggold with much respect to you, i still disagree bro. Laura is too young to have temporomandibular joint arthritis which manifests as jaw tension. I think it really is her inherent dual innervation at work here. I know these things cause im a doctor who also sings in musicals in my side of the world, and im a jaw shaker myself when i do vibratto although its not as apparent as Laura's. About half of my singer friends (the good ones) also have jaw shaking, varying only with how obvious it is.

  • @tggold There was a time when i thought it could be eliminated by vocal techniques and exercises, but my voice teacher from the conservatory enlightened me about it, saying it really is natural for some singers. I further verified this with my colleagues expert in the field of voice physiology, thus the medical explanation i gave earlier.

  • love her voice. hate her "jawble". drives me crazy!

  • She needs to relax her jaw. She's got a pretty voice, but there's tension there.

  • She truly has a fantastic voice!

  • I am officially obsessed with this song and have added it to my repertoire

  • I saw her at La Jolla in Bonnie & Clyde...she's fabulous. There's just some people who are triple threats...

  • this version is amazing, but i feel like some of the vibrato is out of place... like on the quieter parts i don't think the vibrato really fits.

either way, she has an amazing voice =]

  • @xojoannaax3 vibrato means healthy voice.

Broadway singers aren't autotuned and aren't only singing once or twice a week. They're singing in rehearsal every day and then doing 8 shows a week.

Straighttone usually comes from a rigid soft palette. Tensing that during singing (outside of choice moments) is brutal on the voice, even on quite passages.

If you want to see what happens to a show that works with people who straighttone too much, look at the Spring Awakening tour.

  • This amazing actress/singer went to my highschool!!!!!!!!!

  • Laura Osnes undeniably has an absolutely beautiful voice, but I DID like Phoebe Strole's acting better. The innocence in Phoebe's voice and how her acting reflected insecurity--more like a freshman coming home from college. But LAURA OSNES OWNS the belting in this song--no doubt. She can easily make anyone cry when she performs this song.

  • Does anyone know what Key she is singing this in... the original or a transposition?

  • Dear whoever is pouring water at the end of the video: I hate you. You just ruined the mood.

  • omg i LOVE her!!!!!!!!! shes my role model!!!!! exactley a year ago from today i met her!!!!!

  • Laura has just a beautiful voice. She was my favorite Sandy on Grease.

  • her belt is better than phoebe strole's, but i love phoebe's acting and voice quality so much more. sure, phoebe seemed to be shouting a lot, but for the rest of it, she is absolutely heartbreaking.

  • yeah, you're right her jaw is like quivering like crazy -- her vibrato is obviously forced, which is a let down. because she sounds great.

  • she has an amazing voice but she needs to stop her quivvering lip i agree

  • her jaw shouldn't move when her voice vibratos

  • This is absolutely incredible. Gives me shivers. I love it
