  • hi + thanks for speaking sentences and words slowly, and then fast! I think it's really useful because like you said, when you say it 'fast' some letters are 'swallowed up' and the words sound different, and it's important to know this (also, not many 'learning sources' actually point this out, instead you're expected to automatically pick it up).

Thanks so much for all your videos!

  • @AquaellaAaron lol she isn't norway.

  • defınıtely stunning girl and very helpful movie...thanks

  • @AquaellaAaron Aaron talking about oil hahaha, get out of here hypocrit, I'm trying to learn Norwegian!

  • bittersweet symphony the verve; awesome music and great video.

  • beautiful girl;

  • Thats not a man u poster , honsborg bk

  • Hey you seem to have an american accent, but you speak norweigan and you have a manu poster in the back. so are you in US , UK or norway?

  • Hei! Jeg håper du lager mange vidoer som dette. Jeg går på norskkurs nå og jeg finner denne videor veldig nyttig. Tusen takk! =)

  • "Jeg Liker ikke manchester united... Jeg elsker Barcelona FC....men... Jeg er en Brann er fan også... takk !

  • Disse videoene er faktisk råbrae! vet ikke hvordan jeg endte opp her, men jaja lol

  • im norweigan but my parents moved to california when i was young so i never learned norweigan :( there are no classes here!!

  • norwegian black metal

  • @AquaellaAaron Norway only has a lot of money compared to everything else... like... (Example time) i buy a coke from you for $10 you then buy my banana for $10... in America, i buy a coke from you for $5, and i sell my banana for $5.... point being... they have more money... but things also cost more... so they dont have MORE money unless they came to america bought a coke and took it to Norway... (spend $5 on a coke when you get it for $10 in Norway)(ALL numbers are for example only not real)

  • its good

  • I really appreciate your efforts, and would love to donate, but ALL my money is being saved so I can move to Norway. (Don't worry I'm Norwegian by blood, or part Norwegian. Well and part Swedish, but I like Noway better, even though I'm more Swedish!) :D YAY!! JEG ELSKER NORGE!!!! What is "Yay" in Norwegian?? Tis the same right??

  • excellent job! as soon i get a job I will donate! keep doing it. It is really useful and thank you so much

  • Love your norwegian lessons please keep it up, I do plan to donate, p.s ignore the criticizers probably needing attention or maybe their just dumb people who like shows like jersey shore.

  • Thank you that you devote time to learning the world

  • i learn alot

  • @AquaellaAaron I think you mean ACCEPTING. Douche.

  • Yes she is learning you East Norwegian dialect, which actually is not good at all. It actually streaches a bit far away from the written language of Bokmål, because it cuts words, such as mostly the R and -en to just -n :-/ It also has this failure in it's dialect which make them pronounce the sound KJ (CH in english) with a SJ sound (SH in english).. Which means you should deffinatly NOT "learn" norwegian from this site...

  • Hei Karin; Hope you are better now. Please do not be upset about people who complained. 1-You do not speak fast or too fast. Not faster than the people in Oslo city center, malls. supermarket etc. 2- I stay in Oslo and my mother in law from Oslo too. You Oslo girls speak very good very clear Norwegian. I just ignore anyone else (including my husband) and try to pronounce like you or my mother in law. 3- Everybody in our family appreciate you. 4- Hope to donate soon.

  • Who thought she spoke fast?? ffs she was showing that words actually change when spoken normally! I think you're brilliant karin, you should become a teacher :) also I love your videos, but not enough to pay! Haha sorry! I'd be skint!! Xxx

  • you're looking particularly attractive in this video for some reason...

  • is that a manchester united flag i see?

  • Brilliant Vids really helping me out :D thank you xxxx

  • @AquaellaAaron Even if NOrway have all the money, they're not giving it to me! :O

  • @Crienexzy tehe! :[ ) never-aldri.. jeg kommer ikke til å se på denne dårlige videoen mer- i will never watch this bad video anymore.

  • @Crienexzy

    LOL

  • iiii morrgen - i måå'åårn

    haha digger det:p

  • I like the word Tids (which means Time) combined with Maskin (which means Machine)

And it's pronounced like Titsmachine :D

    ( And yes, I'm a girl )

  • You pronounce "Last" like "Lost". *sigh* That's so cute.

  • an fyi, there are some really cool tv shows to watch in norwegian on nrk's website, they don't have subtitles but they are really interesting, i recommend "norge rundt"

you can see shows here: nrk(dot)no/nett-tv/

  • To the rant that you did:

Please, talk fast more often... as long as there are subtitles to read, and I already knew the words that are being spoken, it's all good. I've been watching musicians' interviews to try to learn Norwegian/Swedish, and yeah, talking fast definitely changes things.

Oh, also, hvordan seir du "rant" i norsk?

  • @DuskHermit I reallyl dont think we have a word for it :P i coudnt think of it at least.

  • GOD BEDRING :)

  • Just found Your videos. Gorgeous and so helpful. Thanks for speaking in fast version. Tusen takk once more!

  • Your videos are much appreciated. Especially the talking "fast" part after saying it slowly, because in learning another language it's really helpful to hear the speed at which native speakers talk normally. Thanks :)

  • Funny how much some words change when used in a sentence.

  • Snakker du liksom fort?! Da skulle de hørt meg prate..

She doesn`t speak fast, ppl, trust me. There`s a lot of norwegians speaking a lot faster than she is..

  • spacecricket I love to watch your blogs, thankyou for teaching all of us viewers norwegian.

  • Tusen takk for undervisningen! Det er fint. Men problemet mitt er at jeg ikke forstå hvis noe Nordmenn snakker på (?) original hurtigheten. Selvfølgelig kan jeg ber om å snakke langsomt og tydelig, men har du ikke en lite idé hva jeg kan gjøre, så at jeg kan forstå hva er sagt?

I hvert fall vil jeg takke deg for alt du har gjort på youtube!

  • Karin, honestly. Ive been watching your lessons since the very beginning and they have helped me a lot! Maybe because it is your hobby and you love making them. Your hobby has turned into a REALLY VALUABLE source of knowledge for us! which is also fun to watch! :-) you have a great teaching gift and your tips on the language are very helpful! I have not been to Norway yet, but I think the people there are great. Learning Norwegian is fun as well. All due to your passion and commitment! Thank you

  • Oh my god, thats a Manchester United flag in the background. I am in love.

  • You should do a video on tenses in Norwegian (if you haven't done one yet). I wonder if they are in any way similar to English.

  • Ignore all the unappreciative complainers! They forget that you make videos on a voluntary basis and only out of goodwill :)

Many thanks for making this video!

  • nice videos! :)

  • nice videos! :)

  • Bli bra igjen Karin!

  • Get well, Karin!

  • Just keep the slow and fast versions of pronouncing the words, it's perfect! Thanks a lot for doing these.

  • @crienexzy as far as speaking too fast, which it sounds like you get people complaining, i really like how you say it slow then say it like someone would actually say it in norway. it helps when you say it fast too because i get to hear how words drop letters or get put together. i speak a fair amount of french and we do the same. you sound like an idiot if you pronounce every little thing lol.

  • You have Bitter Sweet Symphony in the background!

    Woo for Norway :D

  • Thanks for the great videos! Bli frisk snart!

  • great video!! thanks karin!!! du er den beste!!

  • Takk Karin.

It would be fun to see you doing simple conversations about simple every day stuff. That would really help put the words in context.

I have a long way to go, but I would like to be able to "get by" in Norwegian when I visit this coming summer to go trekking.

    Thanks Again,

    Rob D.

  • I approve of the Verve!

  • Uniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiited!

  • Takk!

I love listening to you speak Norwegian <3

  • Please KEEP the slow and fast (for you, normal!) pronunciations! We want to speak the way Norwegians do and it helps us! Ignore the idiots who think otherwise.

  • Where is Lindy ? ... : / /

  • Thanks! This was sooooo helpful! I realized i've been pronouncing noen ganger wrong. oh and are most people there blonde? because my grandparents from Norway were (now they're gray) but everyone in my family is now.

  • Takk Karin!

  • Takk Karin!

  • Thank you Karin.

  • PEOPLE ON YOUTUBE THINK YOU TALK FAST, BECAUSE THEY ARE SLOW, THERE ARE A LOT OF SLOW PEOPLE ON YOUTUBE. ANYWAY, I THINK YOU ARE THE GREATEST AMBASSADOR FOR NORWAY ON YOUTUBE, I WANT TO GO THERE TO SEE THE NICE COUNTRY SIDE AND MEET NICE PEOPLE LIKE YOU. I'M FROM CALIFORNIA, I WAS BORN THERE AND IT'S A MESS THIRTY FIVE SOME ODD MILLION PEOPLE AND THE STATE IS JUST A LITTLE BIGGER THAN NORWAY WHICH HAS 5 MILLION PEOPLE, ITS VERY SAD. YOU'RE GREAT, I HOPE YOU STAY AS NICE AND BEAUTIFUL AS YOU ARE

  • Thanks, Karin! It's very important for us to hear how Norwegians actually speak, which means at the speed that Norwegians actually speak. You do a great job of letting us hear each sound slowly and letting us hear what it would sound like if we were in a real conversation. Please don't be discouraged if a few of your many many followers writes something that seems critical. The rest of us get it.

  • ignore the haters! keep doing what you're doing :)

  • You go girl! Hope you are feeling better soon.

  • don't worry about people saying you talk too fast, any language sounds fast if you don't know it. you actually make it really easy to learn in my opinion. keep the videos coming! tusen takk :D

  • Nicely done. Thanks for taking the time to do this. I have one for you: If you don't ever take time, how can you ever - have time :-)

  • Poor sick Karin! I miss you, darling.

  • Hey, I wanted to ask you about titles. Like Mr, Mrs. and Miss. Is there a Norwegian equivalent?

  • yet another great video !

Karin, I know that I asked you on another video about Norwegians talking fast, it was just a crazy question that I asked without thinking . It should be obvious to me that it is so. Sorry if I was annoying to you :(

  • always happy to see yourvids

  • u explain very well... teaching style is great

  • This would have been an excellent opportunity to do a video about talking about being sick in norwegian ;)

  • Love Love LOVE the song in the back round!! Maybe my fav of all time. lol Bitter Sweet Symphony.

  • do u support man united

  • @SuperChris2k10 yes ^^

  • Awesome video! Quick question, do the words change when you make them plural, like in english? As in, weeks is "uker," but would you change it if you said "week?" Just curious =]

  • @Tesuchpwnsu Yes they change, all except "år"

    1 uke - 2 uker, 1 månede - 2 måneder, 1 år, 2 år :)

( i think I have the words in another video!)

  • @Crienexzy Oooh, I get it. I'll check out that vid, thanks! =]

  • Takk! And get well soon ; )

  • Sounds like Persian for some reason

  • Thanks so much for your videos !! Im from Ibiza ( Spain ) and love Norway , spend my last hollydais in Oslo.

    Tusen takk

    Maria

  • "Money is time and time is YouTube." :)

  • Omg, is Barack Obama popular in Norway?

  • @Theblizzardking Yes, he is popular here, isnt it weird..... og det vet jeg siden jeg er norsk...

  • @Theblizzardking popular and popular.. It's not like we have anything to say about it :P

  • @Crienexzy I think it vary from person to person...

He sure was popular back when he was elected, but these days... *shrugs*

I know there's still people that like him a lot but I have no idea about what an opinion poll would show.

  • Thank you for making these videos! I love the way you explain :)

  • Du vet at du kan tjene penger, hvis du setter på slik reklame nederst på videon som du sikkert har sett på andre youtube videoer xD Lykke til videre i hvertfall! Og fortsett å lære bort norsk til hele verden! =)

  • @Pelle90 Nei jeg kan ikke det, siden jeg er norsk! Jeg kan ikke velge det selv :)

  • @Crienexzy Hva?! er du norsk?! hehe

  • get well soon :)
