@SMB67T The s65 already has twin turbos. The M5 is naturally aspirated. Even so, the race is kinda pointless as they are comparing car that are in different classes. This is like comparing an M3 to a E63 amg. The Mercedes is in a higher and more expensive class. In their defense, BMW doesn't make an M7(why not) so I guess thats why they did this.
Oh sorry my mistake. The M7 should be 760Li I think. The S65 AMG should be compared to 7 Series. Or maybe higher class. S65 AMG have 612 HP while the 760Li have 563BHP? Not sure.
@SMB67T Well, thats a very debatable subject, many will say, you can't compare a non M car with an AMG because of the higher performance(which I agree). The s600 is a good rival to the 760li. While many compare the S63 amg with the 760li and sometimes a s65 amg, the reality is that there are some similarities, but the bottom line is that BMW doesn't make a competitor to either of the two models(maybe hopefully soon) and they can just co-exist in their own class.
@SMB67T The S600 has 510 hp, which is very high number. A 760li is putting out 535 hp, which is 25 more hp, of course, hp isn't everything, there is torque, the transmission, etc. The S63 is winning by a massive 1 hp, putting out 536. Like I said earlier, AMG is more sport oriented. However, BMW is usually more about performance than Mercedes is, which is the reason why a standard 760Li can keep up or even win against both these two in a race.

Besides.. that is BMW's flagship, which is NO MATCH to the S65 in any way.
@princemarko I really don't have a clue what can happen in real life drag between those two, but i know one thing, the torque is important but not that important to win a race - search XFR (625nm) vs SL600 (800nm) from m5board, the torque get you going untill one point and from that point the HP make all the job....
this doesn't make sense the s class competes with the 7 series not the 5 series plus like others said a wagon/touring model wont be as fast as a saloon/sedan and 100 more hp and 2 more cylinders witch means more torque/s is too much of an advantage

It also makes 100+ HP more than the M5, has two more cylinders and isn't a wagon. The M5 is a much better car with better engineering. A fair comparison would have been the E63 AMG Estate. I'm sure you can agree with that.

You forgot to mention that Horst said when timing the CLK on the Nordschleife, that it was cold and a bit damp. Anyways when this lap of CLK was made it was on the Dunlop shitty rubber and it is obvious that Michelin Pilot sport Cup semi slics worn on CSL are just the best tire money could buy back then and still are (my op). 4 sec In 20,6 km is easily got back with a tire. You forgot to mention also that CLK DTM AMG beats CSL for a second on the Hockeheimring 1:12,5 to 1:13,5 cry baby now

The official time for the CLK 63 AMG and its stupid big V8 powered piece of shit ass is 8:02, not 7:45. The E46 M3 CSL does 7:50, and the still underpowered (450 HP) 2009 M3 GTS is expected to do it in the mid-7s, so who should be crying then little boy? Sorry but you're dreaming way too much. Finally, a sports car can only be good if it is a balance blend of performance, handling, and power, and TRACKS are the measuring sticks for these variables. AMGs fail miserably when measured with said measuring sticks therefor they are the sorriest excuse for a sports car on the planet. If you want a fast Merc in a straight line might as well just tune a standard Merc because AMG is the laziest performance house of all. Every car was made from bolt on parts onto the standard chassis until 2007.

5th BMW outranks Mercedes in luxury as the 2nd Most Luxurious Automobile brand after Porsche according to the Luxury institute.
6th The Murcielago LP640 does the 1/4 Mile in 11.2 (so does my LP560) and 0-200 Km/H in 10.2, the S65 does 12.5 quarter miles (Slower than an M6) and 13.3 0-200 Km/H. Not worthy of being compared to a Lambo.

3rd, Here in South Florida, you're caught street racing in an exotic car, kiss your license goodbye (been there, done that) and if you're a businessman like myself prepare to have it affect your business. To avoid that we join the Palm Beach Driving Club and visit the the Palm Beach International Raceway regularly. You'll need a car that can handle for that, in other words AMGs don't cut it.

BMW 7-series V12 isen't tuned up by M-power you moron...The 65 engine is tuned from //AMG.The only fastest non-amg S-class is the s600 , and the 760i will kill it with no problems...Think if the 760 was M model...It will humiliate the s65 amg...same with the other M-cars if they would have 6 liter v12 bi-turbo and 1000nm of tourqe....Mercedes nice car and very nice , i like the hand build engines, but listen , in peformance and sport , they suck...

Last I heard.... BMW flunked out of F1 because they couldn't compete with Mercedes. So any assertion that Mercedes is not a motorsport contender is asinine.
The 760 would not kill the S600, not by a long shot. The S600 still goes 0-60 in 4.5, has 510hp, 600+ torque. For all intensive purposes, they are equal.
Oh and... The new SLR was just on Top Gear whipping a new Lamborghini in Dubai.....

The F01 760i killed the S63 amg with no problems...i know that s600 is a bit faster then a S63 amg....
The bmw 760i can go 0-60 in 4.4 , has 554 hp , 750 nm of torque...
It couldn't match up with the S65 amg , i know that the S65 has higher price , and it's still a AMG....If there was a M7 , it could compare with the AMG S-class , the 760i beated S63 amg , and remember the 760i top speed is 188mp/h , what is very impressive.BMW!!
