Whoo. If he thought that was disturbing, he should read the adult fanfiction strewn about the internet nowadays. Those things could leave you feeling like one of the dirtiest, guiltiest, wrongest sinners in the world. Your soul gets so impure, St. Peter would smell you before you even reached the gates. Then you'd have be reincarnated multiple times as a nun before you finally succumb to your true fangirlishness, and St. Peter would have let you in anyway as an intellectual on worldly ways.
@Matrinique I can only imagine the man who have the lucky of being with you. The word is called," Prude," and a little thing that the bible talks about is not judging which you seem to love doing. It seems that you don't know or recall that each of the Apostles were sinners of the worst kind. I don't think by any means you will be at that gate either because you head is too far up your ass!
@QueenAkasha23 What are you talking about? Either you misunderstood my comment or took it far too seriously. Or you're messing with me and are intentionally being rude since the lovely thing about the internet is anonymity. At any rate, you shouldn't go around telling people their heads are in their asses because... well... in your case, it's a bit ironic.
this movie is historically screwed up, kinda. a women would never be alone with a man she wasn't married to or related to i nthat time, like she was at the lake, and other parts are questionable, too..
don't like McAvoy. He's kinda plain, besides, he's not tall enough for a "standard" handsome man(around 5'9'' I remember?). But Hathaway has a face that one can only see probably once in a decade.
@Deannie21 It was expected when meeting another person of the respectable class. No matter what. They had all kinds of interesting customs. It actually saved our country because the English armies had standards of fighting. Certain formations but Americans fought behind trees or whatever it took to take out the regemented English armies. They never broke it and it was their downdoing. Americans picked them off like flies. But the English soldiers were professionals and better trained.
Weren't thngs like tht swimming part stuff n the fair n fighting without shirts infront of ladies the most scandalous things back thn??!!! I'm like WTH r they showing? I wanna know if it was cuz in my opinion it wouldve been thought scandalous?:/
@arsah786 You're right. Gentlemen wouldn't have swam in the nude like this if they thought ladies were around. Ladies would have been shocked to see anything like this. The average young woman didn't even know how a man was built. Girls, on their wedding nights, might be told that they were going to go through something terrible but it was their "duty" to endure it. They were told to, "think of England." In other words, whatever they suffered was their duty. Imagine how they felt about sex.
Don't take offense please and thumb down me! I say "lame" descendants because they no longer have the wonderful Irish accent. That's the price of marrying one of those kinds.
I appreciate thumbs up! the more the merrier!! I love the color green. I dread the red. LOL!
The accents.... Ok, my two fave actresses (one of which is in this movie!) have english accents, and i've heard plenty of british ones, and these kinda suck, for the ones that are americans, that is!
its interesting to watch a movie that looks like a bunch of reinactors in costume got together and hung out....and wore their costumes and spoke in their character's voice.
lol I love Anne's face after he talks about the mating birds, I may not have liked the sound of her voice with the british accent but I still loved her as Jane<3 Plus she's absolutely gorgeous.
I agree...I was intrigued from the very first moment I saw him,but it was after I watched it a couple of times that I realised that my heart would flutter every time I saw him..He's not handsome in the "classic" way, but I think he's A LOT sexier, hotter and more charming than...Brad Pitt, for example(I do not mean to offend Pitt's fans-just my opinion).
"Your horizons must be...widened"[+smile]Honestly,can you think of a sexier way for a man to flirt with you?I guess not ;-)
@lacryma6 Well said. Actually, I think he is handsome in the "classic" sense. I never could see in Brad Pitt what others found to be handsome, or hot in the "modern" sense. Well we all have our own options of Beauty. But it's like I always say Irish men are the best around. Eh! Some might say those romantic Italians..maybe. But I'll still take and "authentic" Irish guy any day! By "authentic" I mean the ones straight from Ireland with the accent and all. Not some lame descendents in America.
James McAvoy's looks are the type that don't knock you over right away. As I watched this movie recently I found myself more and more intrigued by him. It's like every scene he got hotter and hotter. I then realized I saw him in The King of Scotland. He had the same affect on me in that movie.
I seem to be obsessed now with clips from Becoming Jane. He is positively dreamy in this.
@MAM231415 Your not the only one suffering from obsession. I've always found him attractive. I was just surprised by how many others did as well. The Last King of Scotland, I knew he was in that movie but I did not think it worth seeing because it is no doubt depressing. Sounds like one of those same movies of a stupid, Lousy African leader that takes advantage of his nation at the expense of his own people. I Hate that! Because it still happens.
Oh the stares and the..."silent" conversations... Honestly, Jane's love story is as enchanting as her novels, much more because she never found her happy ending in real life, maybe that is why her novels were so full of timeless romance and "happily ever afters..." She dedicated her entire living in writing great novels.
Jane Austen at a very young age read many books of variety in which some were risque. Her father had a very large collection in his library and Jane had full use of it. Therefore she could not have been ignorant as is suggested in this part of the film.
This is giving Lefroy more credit than he's worth- anyone who knows about Jane Austen will know that she was raised in a fairly liberal household and read Tom Jones long before she met Lefroy.
James you could be a great artist because you give us your soul. So don't do these trashy movies like `wanted` or you will lose the way of IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
