  • Love that Gene Hackman chuckle...

  • Very well deserved. An exceptional performance from a very fine actor.

  • Mr. Hackman should have several of these statues on his shelf at home for so many great performances. He gives performances in film that just blow you away and never leave your memory..one of the best ever. Great job and well deserved.

  • @txladyification His shelf should have collapsed under the weight of oscars by now, but hey to me oscars don't mean shit - he's my favourite actor and he's been amazing so many times and that's all that counts to me.

  • Jack Nicholson was awesome as Jessup. He deserved more than other actors.Masterfull

  • "You been talking about that Queen of yours, again, Bob?...On Independence Day?"..boooooommmmm !!

  • the orchestra can't be sight reading each film's theme each and each would have had to be pre-arranged and instantly appear on each musician's music stand , so they had to have known the winners ahead of time, dontcha think?

  • He played a badass villain in Unforgiven.

  • He deserved it, great performance

  • mercedes was correct that should have been a tie, because al pacino was brilliant in glenn garry glen ross, don't know why jack lemmon wasnt nominated.. but gene hackman was great in unforgiven and deserves the recognition for that.

  • Robin Williams should have got a nomination for "Aladdin" that's some of the greatest voice acting in history.

  • @grievous1 - Ellen Degeneres in Finding Nemo was also phenomenal.

  • @CyeOutsider Different person, different movie, different year, different everything. What it has to do with this video?

  • @grievous1 Acting is not only voice.

  • @KingofTheTang he's dead to me that sonafabitch.

  • pacino and nicholson have gone up against each other 4 times

  • Pacino should have won both, for Glengarry Glen Ross and Scent Of A Woman. Nicholson could have been a posibility too, nice perfomance in A Few Good Men. Even tho Hackman is a talented actor too, but IMO his roles always have the same character, specially in westerns.

  • Al Pacino was both nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Best Actor that year. He got the Best Actor award. That makes him still a loser even if he won. heheheheh.. Gotta love Al Pacino!

  • It's a surreal world indeed when Popeye Doyle receives an award from "Dirty Girl".

  • @queudruex Dustin Hoffman got that dubious 'accolade' as well if I recall. Just like Hackman he's a double Oscar winner for acting!!

  • pathetic speech actually...

  • @seison5 It was, he probably didn't prepare because he didn't expect to win.

  • @seison5

[IRONY ON] And that, of course, it should be noted, because we can't be forgiven a great actor by to be shy when he is collecting his prize. Before he's human, he is someone whose speech has to be judged by our "importants and infallibles minds". [IRONY OFF]

    Sorry for my bad English.

  • @seison5 He did any. Just, you know, some thanks.

  • Gene in Young Frankenstein as the blind man in the cabin. Tops!

  • Hackman, Paymer, Nicholson, and Pacino in a category for Best Supporting Actor. I wish there was that much talent for Best Actor in a Leading Role these days.

  • Nicholson Vs. Hackman- sorry this never happened on film! You ever get the feeling that Gene is the sort of actor you would want with you in a real life scrape? Guy seems like a badass.

  • R.i.p gene hackman

  • @xKrazyGluex he didn't die you clown .

  • Jaye Davidson mouths "I told you so" to his left when doesn't win. Although it's cliche and sort-of not meant to say it, it is a privilege and honor to be nominated b/c it does give extra, extra exposure to ur career. So don't be a sore loser. Plus where's the video of Mercedes Ruehl winning her Oscar?

  • The first guy in the Crying Game didn't have a chance in hell to win that award with all those great names popping up...

  • Leo should have one for what's eating gilbert grape!! :)

  • @honeypop341-Wrong year pal. He was nominated a year later I think.

  • Hackman, Nicholson.Duvall.Tommy Lee Jones and the great Eastwood are a few of the greats that are gettin up there in age....i love all their movies,

  • 1:23 when Jack Nicholson and Al Pacino are applauding that really means something, don't you?

  • @caragea2002 Allright you wanna play rough? Say hello to my lil friend!

  • While I loved Pacino in GlenGary, Hackman was awesome in Unforgiven. A very worthy win.

  • Gene Hackman is my all time favourite actor! I wish he would come out of retirement

    :-(

  • @PresidentSuperman193

    Me too!!! Great, great actor!

  • John Goodman should have won for Barton Fink.

  • When Gene Hackman's name is read, you can see Jaye Davidson look to his left and say, "I told you."

  • Little bIll was a great character...you are too underrated Gene...

  • Gene Hackman has a tendency to be nervous and overwhelmed at winning Oscars.

  • No disrespect to the great Mr. Hackman, but Jaye Davidson was robbed!

  • @borderlandwerun he showed his dick and still didn't win!

  • "i don t deserve this, to die like this. i was building a house"

  • Gene Hackman is much better than Marlon Brando was

  • @92af oh please

  • @tusepagliacco what do you mean about that?

  • @92af

WTF, he is great, no doubt, but that is just outrageous and wrong

  • @92af AHAHAHAHAHAHAH

  • whatt the hell happened to mercedes' ruehl speech. i would like that reposted please.

  • is mercedes drunk?

  • I honestly think he was totally surprised to have won.

  • Wow, that was a stacked year. Like the way it was back than. So many lightweights today that doesn't make it worth it.

  • Grew up watching this guy tear Superman apart but Gene Hackman is a great actor, very articulate in his speech, a very cheerful and soft spoken guy

  • ernie hudson"the hand that rocks the cradle"

  • Hey it's the hooker from the movie St. Elmos Fire!!!!!

  • Finally someone wins who desrves it.

  • Pacino and Davidson gave the best and most interesting performances that year...

  • how come they don't let the speeches go this long anymore. now they barely get 30 seconds. and even back then the shows weren't 4 1/2 hours like they are now, were they?

but to the main point. it's amazing hearing Gene make references to Freeman and Eastwood. That these 3 men worked together is awesome. truly the greatest acting combination ever.

  • @88mphsssn A minute long, 30 seconds of talking.

  • Gene Hackman is really famous movie actor of West !!! ?

  • Hackman is one of the best actors in history...very talented and he makes every movie better..

  • Mercedes Ruehl seems drunk off her ass

  • Hackman should have said to Nicholson, "You can't handle the truth!"

  • Nicholson should've won this. Hackman was good, Nicholson was the best

  • UNFORGIVEN

  • Jaye Davidson should've won

  • fk u ggl

  • Talk about categories

  • microscoop

  • Is that lady stoned, methed-out or retarded.....or all 3?

  • @69adrummer no, but your mom was when she conceived you, which explains a lot

  • Only guys like Hackman can make nervousness endearing without even trying.

  • Gene Hackman is one of the best actors ever

  • @92af yeah I know, I would love to see him in a movie one last time :P

  • Jack Lemmon (Glenngary) was robbed but Gene Hackman is totally deserving.

  • He wasn't a supporting actor in GGGR, he was the main one.

  • Jaye Davidson was clearly my favorite that year, no matter how great Hackman was.

  • Jaye Davidson was astonishing. All the mystique of Garbo and the darkness of Valentino.

  • This was a great category that year - Nicholson, Davidson & Hackman. I agree with Hackman winning, but the others were great.

  • What a group

    Pacino Nicholson and Hackman

3 way tie should have been!

  • @Jennyypenny Why? Because they're the "big names" in the category? Jaye Davidson should've won by far or Nicholson.

  • @deanriam

I AGREE, during the ENTIRE 90s, the "old Hollywood" regime still ruled the Oscar voting with an IRON FIST, Jaye Davidson SHOULD HAVE WON HANDS DOWN, if he were nominated any time by 2000 forward, he would have won, alot of the old hollywood folks are dead and gone..thank god!

  • @NJNupe1911 You are ignorant...old hollywood is the only hollywood!! if you think any actor from today can even come close to Newman, Pachino, Hackman, Redford, and pretty much anyone on the old hollywood list then you are clearly out of your mind.
