as much as i love john mayer, his lyrics aren't exactly brilliant. There are better lyricists out there. Check out Ben Gibbard (Death Cab For Cutie) and Andy Hull (Manchester Orchestra)

I agree there are better lyricists out there, but I think he will develop and get better in time. He isn't a bad songwriter though, he can sing, and his melodies are aesthetically pleasing.

umm...only that....the melody is so cliche....not so much talent....i know a lot of untrained musicians who do that stuff just for fun like a million times...been there done that.....bob dylan...the beatles....etc etc.....this guy is pretty meh to me....and im not even lookin at that stupid "wonderland" single....he needs to shake his soul out....stop kidding and release something fierce...like nick cave or tom waits nowadays....something different or daring...you choose

I'm a huge JM fan, but this song is a little to folk for me.  I like it, but I don't necessarily love it, but I still need to hear the final version. And btw, I LOVE the piano in this song, it reminds me of battlestudies vid no.2 when he's playing it in heartbreak warfare
