I totally disagree. Hanna never flew anything like the planes that Svetlana and Patty Wagstaff fly. I bet Hanna never pulled the kind of Gs these girls do all day long, and do with their airplanes what they are doing at those G levels! Hanna was a great pilot to be sure, but for her time. Svetlana or Patty could fly anything Hanna flew, and then some!

I actually have several books that detail Hannah's accomplishments and some of her flying experiences in her own words. She is/was a great pilot, but I'm speaking strictly of flying skills here, not willingness to take a risk, which is what you are alluding to. Who knows what Svetlana or Patty would do if they were approached by their governments and asked to test a new machine? Who knows?

My comments are aimed directly at pure flying skills, and you and everyone else in the world cannot deny that these women have beat some of the so called best in the world, in a world domintated by men. Regardless of gender, these two women are incredible pilots, doing things with airplanes that hadn't even been dreamed of back in WW-II.

Hanna Reitsch flew the Me- 163, the manned version of the V- 1 flying bomb and the Messerschnitt Gigant, among many others. Most of her rocords stand to this day.

There is no other woman on the planet who accomlished more in aviation than Hanna Reitsch.

Nobody can compare Hanna´s flying with Svetlana´s or Patty´s flying. Hanna was a test pilot in the 30-40´s, whether Svetlana and Patty are aerobatic pilots today. Furthermore, they fly totally different aircrafts. There´s no point of comparison...

Adolfinthemix is right, there is no point of comparison really. Because we cannot time travel, there is no way to bring Hanna forward to get the same training and then fly the same airplanes that Svetlana or Patty fly.

As for being able to fly the airplanes that Hanna flew, Patty and Svetlana could fly them every bit as well as Hanna. They have training and skills that just did not exist back then, and even the most aerobatic aircraft of the time could not pull the Gs that modern aerobatic and military aircraft can today. All of these women were and are the best at what they do, in their time. And there will always be "someone better". Have any of you seen Melissa Pemberton?

I agree with you except for them flying every bit as well as Hanna. Leaving apart the fact that she flew in the 30´s, those aircraft in that particular time where very rustic and unreliable, I´ve read Hanna´s diary and to speak frankly she had the balls the size of a mini cooper to fly those aircrafts so unconcerned. Now I´m not saying that present time pilots are unable to fly those aircrafts or how well, but we really don´t know for sure, so I think theres no point of comparison AT ALL.
