  • this song is awesome

  • ...mother of all pieces...

  • 2:33 - 2:49 Needs more evil guys with top hats and moustaches XD

  • @DragonZeara That it does...

  • musical mindfuck. best way to describe. as complex as blotte science, but way more musical.

  • um, emerson lake and palmer meets rush, they have a child who plays with yes and frank zappa, make mud pies with gentle giant, and are magically transported 20 years into the future and land on you-tube. it's nice, but still sounds like a 70's prog rock band. put some edge on it, guys...

  • Lyrics by John Myung

  • @JablesTheSpartan so quite pigeon :)

  • @JablesTheSpartan You are so RIGHT!

  • I opened up my AOL at about 0:20, AND THE "You've got mail!" voice synced up perfectly.

  • @AdrenalineThrob You're obviously a troll

  • @D3N1553 or a punk ass bitch

  • 0:32 Lolwut keyboard awesomeness

    1:49 Just awesome shit

    2:32 Ragtime! <3

    2:08 Myung's World

4:22 Reminds me of Pokemon for some reason

5:57 Reminds me of "The Camera Eye" by Rush.(:

You know, the whole song is awesome.

    But those are some highlights.(:

  • Meanwhile on the basketball court with LaBrie..

  • @GuitarAndWow "The Canadian is perfecting his skills of basketball!"

  • 2:33-3:00 best part

  • @420jobforacowboy 0:00-6:13 best part

  • amazing intro as always!

  • Most technical band ever

  • 4:22 and following was in my head forever, and I finally found which DT song! so happy.

  • jordan rudess.... wtf... you make me mad -_- I QUIT PIANO FOREVER. D:< (no seriously though i love you and dream theater and you inspire me to keep playing keyboards :D)

  • I think you guys might already about this or not that the singer is Canadian :O. I found it so cool and awesome. :P

  • Perfect instruments !

  • Hasn't taken long for this to become one of the most played in the playlist...

  • So many time signature changes!!!

  • 4 votes for not good must be some stupid R&B listeners

  • Once i hated Dream Theater, but then i understood music..

  • @PinkNerdify Yes, ive been in those shoes before!

  • such a promising beginning gets ruined by the gay keyboard.....

  • @andalooz Dream Theater isnt for you then.

  • music for musicians in my opinion.. but they are the best on what they do.. amazing song btw :D!!

  • amazing! vooral het intro

  • 5:14 - 5:45 best part

  • Ragtime!!! >.< <3<3<3

  • @Sercan1995 his solo does enough of the talking.

  • of course this is freaking hard song to play, no doubt 'bout it, but I think Metropolis part 1 (which is my No.1) is more melodic, and that makes it more memorable as well ...

  • @beefcake0354 umm.. i remember i read about this song

it's the most complex song of dream theater

just few people could play it complete

    NOT including me of course

  • @MasterOfTrapos I can play it on bass! finally!

  • @MasterOfTrapos i know them..John Petrucci, Jordan Rudess, Mike Portnoy (Mangini now) and John Myung.

  • Comment removed

  • @MasterOfTrapos I honestly don't really think this is their most COMPLEX song. It was probably one of the hardest to make and create, but I think they have some other songs that just mainly blow this out of the water as far as being hard goes. The keyboard solo in The count of Tuscany is absolutely unreal. But this is definitely a very hard song though, and I listen to it 100000 times a day.

  • @noobsmoke261 hard is the word that i wanted to use

i forgot about it because i'm not from an english-speaking country so i have few mistakes

but hard is the word that i wanted to use

in peru, complex is used with the same sense as hard or complicated, so i forgot in english-speaking countries complex and hard are two different words

  • 2:05 Is the best part!

  • 1:06 the best part

  • I hate between 2:33 and 2:50 of this song..that part SUCKS I think

  • @Lizard4lyfe What kind of faggot doesn't like ragtime?

    Oh, you.

  • @Lizard4lyfe that is the best part ever!!!

  • Labrie did a great job on this.

  • @MIKEPEARTNOY If you don't know, Labrie had a problem in 1994... but he sings very well though...

  • @MIKEPEARTNOY Those lyrics John Myung wrote were just magical

  • Thumbs up if you also think this is the best instrumental song of Dream Theater, and also one of the two bests instrumentals songs of metal with Orion!! lml

  • 8=======DT=======D~~~ (other bands)

  • The Dark Ethernal Night ????

  • @nongboom1234 The Dark Eternal Night is a completely different song. its like nine minutes and has lyrics

  • @nongboom1234 About it?

  • The ragtime part, followed by the mini guitar solo thing, and the bass solo is just fucking epic. Myung just fucking kills it.

  • @tokiwartooth95 What i said is that the technical side of the music is only 1 "part" of the music. Of course each person has it's own sentiment as to how much "parts/caracheristics" music has and how much weight each "part" has to him/her.

On the matter of PF, i only said that they are Greater, not better and neither that i like them more. But of course.. each to it's own... as it should be democratically.

  • @darthsasuke554 Yes indeed, i'm not saying Dream Theater are crap or anything...As i do like music that demands dedication both from the listener and from the band, otherwise i wouldn't listen so much Prog Rock and it's variations (sub-genres). It's just that most Prog-Metal music feels cold to me. I do like Opeth or Pain of Salvation and some Deadsoul Tribe and Queensryche and some Dream Theater for that matter ... ahah.

  • 64% of the population of Vermont died after hearing this.

  • my dick is pink floyd and balls are dream theater kthx bye

  • @phenixer Then your dick and balls must be so friggin awesome!!! :D

  • @Deth666Iron Yes?

  • DBZ

  • @77Hking

Man, this is just a matter of opinion, I don't recall insulting you. And you didn't seem to understand what i meant anyway. Music isn't all about technicallity, you'll get that eventually.

  • \m/

  • Pink Floyd is greater than Dream Theater.

Maybe not technically, but in any other term. Melody, lyrics, feeling, vocals, whatever comes. And still there are the non Roger Waters albums which i hate, and i have mixed feelings for some of their early albums.

I used to be a big DT fan, i still own most of their discography (until six degrees and 3 of their DVD's), so I feel I understand people liking them, but they are in no way greater than PF.

  • @rtlisboa87 pink floyd are fucking shit, the guitarist is no way near as good fuck you, and by the way you contradicted yourself saying theyre greater in no way yet you said maybe not technically, dream theater are way better than pink floyd, i cantell you that personally as a guitarist that their guitarist is no way near as good in any way and their drummer is certainly not better than mike portnoy, and now mike mangini but both are better.

  • @77Hking Tomas Haake is a better drummer than Mike Portnoy (but not by much)

  • @rtlisboa87 john petrucci is practically pink floyds guitarist only ten times better

  • @77Hking I sincerely hope you are kidding.

  • @rtlisboa87 I agree, I'm not a big PF fan but I can definitely respect what they do and realize that they are musical geniuses. I do like Dream Theater more just...well cause I'm a bass player and John Myung is insanity haha also he's my biggest influence. I just enjoy the crazy technicality, but I also appreciate the more song writing over technicality stuff like Porcupine Tree, KC, and PF

  • @rtlisboa87 I never understood the whole "Yeah, they're better technically, but not as good X wise" You're basically saying "Yeah, Dream Theater is better than Pink Floyd, but I like Pink Floyd better than Dream Theater"

  • @tokiwartooth95 pink floyd is psycheldic brof! and i do like it! \m/

  • @tokiwartooth95 You can like different aspects of bands more than others. Like, for instance, I think Metallica is, on a musical level, one of the best thrash metal bands ever, but I really dislike the personalities of some of their members.

  • I love labrie's voice here

  • i think i found out what time signatures they use, its 13/FUCK

  • @GetFuckingAngry There are like 70 ish time signature changes if I remember right, my friend has an anthology and this was in there, we sat following the scoring mindfucked by it !

  • @LedZepGuitarman it has more than 100 times signature changes, and a freakishly big amount of key changes lol

  • Around 2:30 in, the ragtime feel is quite pleasing :'D

  • only 50,000 views? tat's absolutely pathetic youtube!

  • @boomaslang And apparently, so is your spelling.

  • @Psychosis011012 I misspelled one word lol now my spelling is positively terrible.

  • a few months ago i used to not like this song, until a few weeks later i learnt to really appreciate music, so fucking glad i got into this band! cant believe i ever doubted their music! ashamed of it

  • @laurence231 only music pros listen to dt..

  • who the fuck pressed the dislike button? Dream theater will remain known to the eternity because of that piece. The next generations will be talking about them as we still talk about pink floyd.

  • @MrMetalhead1986 Nahh. Pink Floyd appealed to a much more widespread audience. Dream Theater is too complex for the simple minds of most humans ;)

  • @MrMetalhead1986 dream theater way better than pink floyd, i hate them, but i also love them for being an inspiration to dream theater

  • future of trunks made this song famous :D

  • .....dun-dun-dun DUN. DUN. DUN.

  • Mike Mangini = the dunce of eternity

  • @MlKEPORNTOY don't be so harsh! mangini is jesus! but i suppose portnoy is god, so...

  • 103 time signature changes... prog gods

  • 1 dislike= Chris Brown

  • @irwin3036able He tried to make as good a beat as this, but he accidently took it too literally.

  • 2:30 :)

  • God once challenged Jordan Ruddess to a keyboard-off. The loser had to stay in the sky for all of eternity.

  • <3

  • this song reminds me mortal kombat in the begining

  • @Darkquemi This song reminds me Top Gear and even Mario in some parts

  • 2:49

  • 3:51 is the best

  • Only very disturbed people could make something like this...

  • @Xsody I have always wondered what Dream Theater would sound like if the guys used acid.

  • @caughtinaweb Ahaha. :)

  • @caughtinaweb That would be liquid tension experiment..

  • 1 dislike, 1 person else who should be alive in this world

  • ahaha wow, legend!

  • the intro is so fucking exciting

  • 1 dislike??? Fucking youtube bug!

  • 3:10 - nuff said.

  • WARNING

2:32-2:48 could cause very long lasting boners. If your boner lasts more than 4 hours please call the guinness records association.

  • @himl994 No wonder it's my favorite part of the song XD

  • Lyrics by Myung

  • @Sercan1995 : Hahaha,,,Very Funny :D

  • i see why parents dont let their infants listen to metal... because songs like these will fuck up their sense of rhythm... lol

  • if i tried to bang my head to this my brain would fall out my ear.

  • this song is like super prog. so epic

  • Over 100 time signature changes in less than 6 1/2 minutes....if that doesn't make a band untouchable in epicness, I don't know what does...

  • this song is just plain fuckin amazing as fuck :) <3

  • one word... FU**

  • Comment removed

  • @andr769 so does your brain faggot. think up something clever on your own instead of whoring for thumbs up.

  • 1:44 BEST PART!!!!!

  • @bladhack I personally think the ragtime part at 2:32 is the best part, but that's just my opinion...

  • @Rockerboy3872 agreed!

  • @Rockerboy3872 is cool, but have nothing to do there

  • @bladhack I myself would say that that's the second best part. My personal favorite part is 3:08.

  • they joked us! its called the dance of eternity and its not even 30 minutes long...damn

  • @challengeleo Nah, It would just take an eternity to learn how to dance to it!

  • @challengeleo "The Dance of Eternity" refers to the complicated procedure that us mortals would have to go through to write the tabs and time signatures for this song.

  • Who is the little mother ficker that don't enjoy this song!

  • @spider2d2 Justin Bieber...:D

  • I never thought I could laugh just from hearing music, but the part at 2:32 proved otherwise. Unbelievable!

  • the person who dislike is a punk

  • wait...what's the time signature? 4/awesome?

tempo seems to be quarter note equals Beast

    in the key of Godly

and various other music realated puns....point is this song kicks ass

  • 2:30 - 2:50 is awesome

  • Best instrumental ever.

    Ever.

    You can't prove me wrong.

  • 2:32 Funny and happy Rudess, but also Good as hell and fucking talented Rudess

  • the live scenes from ny version of this is so much better than the studio

  • @MrFelixzin ascolta universal mind dei liquid tension XD

  • question...why did someone dislike this and why does it only have 43 likes!!!!!

  • @aleperez76 Probably people that listen to the first 3 seconds of it and go "LOLOL THIS IS BORING AND SUCKS" coz they haven't heard of an intro

  • @slotheron207 Or people that actually have a differing opinion from you.

    Crazy talk, I know.

  • Am I dreaming ?....

  • some fucked up circus act on drugs

  • that song makes drives me crazy! like, in a positive way..

  • @TinhoMenezesftw *this song

  • how the hell someone can make song as good as this?? dt ftw!

  • I SOOO love this song

I've seen them live and I was blown away.

They are all extremely mastered musicians.

Seeing them live was like getting an orgasm :P

    THAT GREAT!
