Jewel has a long history. She used to live in San Diego as a homeless girl singing out of the trunk of her beat up broken down car. She sold cassette tapes to people walking by until somebody got her music up to a producer. If you listen and read her lyrics, you'll know that she was a drug addict, abandoned, lost a lover, was abused, and left to die. She sings about her own life, that's why the music is so touching.
