It amazes me that people actually feel that they should critique other people's performances. Music is passion. If the choir performing is enjoying their moment on stage, then who are we to judge them. I can guarantee that no one who has commented is a professional musician...and if so, then you need to find a hobby! Putting down 14 year old kids is not a good one!
Congrats to this choir for taking on a rhythmic piece with French text! Go girls!
@EoSiangHui OMG!!!! THANK YOU for pointing that out! A lot of singers don`t smile or do facial expressions when they sing. Every singer needs to show expression when they sing. In my choir, the first thing we learn is to have a good expression and we`re always reminded to do it. U need to show that you love to sing and you need to tell the story the song is saying with ur expression!
oh my god!!!! ahhhh!!!! i'm doing this song with my school choir!!!!! :) anyway, i think they need something more......... pronunciation of french was sort of off but it was ok. good job.
We did this song at the Gardner-Webb Choral Clinic last year. For this clinic, 6 to 8 students from certain high schools in NC and SC were selected to participate and then there was a guest choir that sung a few songs by themselves and also participated in the clinic. My school was the guest choir this past year.
Everybody at the clinic hated this song! It was just so fast and the words were hard to pronounce. But congrats. You guys did an amazing job!
I like the tempo, but it's almost rushing too far ahead of everyone. Dynamics are well executed. Intonation is a problem in several places, and the pianist needs to get his foot off the darn pedal!
Last question - why is a choral conductor using a baton when there is only a piano and choir?
@NMSChorusDirector Well the song is about a little girl asking a monk to join her dance and she's bouncy and hyper and wanting him to say yes and it escelates where she throws a fit reason why I know that is because I sang this song for MPA last year in December and we did a study on the song and thats how I got the information and it is a hard peice to sing but when we got to practice over and over it felt natural but yes I love this song so much I still sing it from time to time
@jdnutt8907 No, I don't think I'm being hypercritical. Hypercritical would be if I started picking out measures or criticized the entire second alto part. Notice I never said it was poorly done. I rather liked it. Considering this is a group of freshman (mostly), I think they did quite a fine job. But that doesn't mean that I shouldn't give focused feedback.
