One of the first books i did read in my distant youth and this became one of the first cinematic films i was allowed to go and see-parents were allowed to parent in those days- much loved memories of simpler times,when the pirates were the baddies the women fought hard for their virtue and men did the hard drinking .AH YAR TWER HAPPY DAYS ME LADS. Robert Newton was a legend. Brilliant in everything he did, way before this was made.

Love the crazy version of his own West Country accent (which he still had a trace of in early roles) he devised for this part. Lol

Yeah, it keeps freezing on me at 1:11:10 as well, but the entire file downloads just fine with a YouTube downloader. I have a Mac and used "FastestFreeYouTube Downloader", but I'm sure any one of the others out there would work just as well. ;)

My school's doing an adaptation of this play and I get the lead role, an adult "Jane Hawkins". I'm so excited! This helped me see what my character is really like. :)

Thank you for posting this. I have to say, although my favorite adaption of Treasure Island is the 1990 one, the look and pace of this one is more like the book. Although I must admit I'm not a huge fan of Bobby Driscoll as Jim Hawkins.
