You pull a knife on someone who has a gun, you'll get shot. That is why guns are better than knives. Granted, knives are great for bushcraft and the likes (I wouldn't trade my mora for anything). But if you need to hurt someone, guns are far superior. That is why cops are issued Glocks, not Katanas or Claymores. Swords are outdated and obsolete. It's the 21st century. Learn to shoot a gun.

First, yes, that's anime-esque. And as for "something you're supposed to do," no. Not really. Normal people, that being ones that aren't trying to imitate swordplay in whatever generic dime-a-dozen anime we watched last, simply take a dry cloth, apply oil to the blade, and wipe it dry... So, you know, the water that you "flick away" with you super-cool anime poses doesn't leave pockets of water on the structure of the blade and cause rust.

But, obviously, you know best...

@matchesburn Wrong. It's called Shibori, shaking the blood off of the blade after a strike. Every swordsman does it after cutting a target, whether or not the target is wet. It is a fundamental part of any form of kata or practice cutting. What blade you use for the cut makes no difference, whether it's a Katana or dual shortswords, the parts of the cut remain the same.

Lets say I break into your house with my mosin nagant with bayonet and you see me and have time to grab your compound bow and crossbow along with your toy knifes. Why would you want to go face to face with an enemy? In a real life situation that is what you want to avoid and you probably will as you will instinctively shit your pants and run/hide. You're not gonna have some "honorable" showdown with them. Unless you are a professional blades-man, whatever scenario you have in your head is not gonna play out and if the other person has a gun you're just gonna die and he won't give a shit about face to face.

@BetaGeneticz I have VERY good aim, have taken down my fair share of raccoons and squirrels with it, at much greater distances than anything inside of my house. And if you think GUN = LESS legal problems, you strange. And no, even if I didn't get a kill shot, I wouldn't be disarmed. Enter my sidearm Ka-Bar knife. Actually, now that you mention it, crossbow is kind of a one-shot thing. I'd likely load the crossbow and wear it on a strap, and use my compound bow for the first shot.

Fine, but that's all down the drain in an adrenaline rushed situation. I've shot in shooting competitions since I was 8 and have remarkable aim. Last year I was attacked by 2 people (brothers) wielding knives, all over me breaking up their sister. They were no more than 5 feet away from me and my first shot landed on guy in the shoulder. Goes to show how much....

After the shooting, I was taken to the hospital, stitched up, then was taken questioned at the local PD for 4 hours then released. I was arrested 4 days later because when the brother regained consciousness, he gave police a false report saying I pulled the gun first, then they cut me in defense. Luckily footage...

...turn to you having to defend yourself, your attacker with arrow and stab wounds is going to look very bad in your defense. At some point in the attack, it may be ruled that you continued after a point where that attacker is no longer legally a threat. It's why I didn't shoot the 2nd attacker while he was on the ground. If i did, it would be legally killing someone who wasn't a threat (murder). Save yourself alot of legal trouble and buy a PRACTICAL tool for defense.

The blades are very light, and MUCH more suited for slashing flesh, and most likely could not cut through bone, most especially not a skull, being the hardest bone in the body. You could try stabbing through the zombie's eye into the brain, but that would take either luck or a lot of skill, and if you miss your hand is that much closer to it's mouth. For zombies I have a spiked war hammer and an axe.

Good swords you got there. I would reccomend a samurai special katana honestly. good blades for the price. Just be ready to rewrap it. The wrap on those swords are shit. Another sword I think you should look into getting would be a Hanwei Claymore. That would be perfect for someone your size. (Not a fat joke, I'm being serious)

The only good thing about stainless steel is the inability to rust. That blade will break if used roughly.. Only a display piece in my opinion, just cause I'd like to keep all of my organs. And the black is 110% better than the original wrapping by the way.
