@blahsumthinblah Kind of awkward holding these backhand, there's like an indentation for your pointer finger and when holding backhand it kind of gets in the way. You can still do it, but it's much more comfortable holding them with a regular grip.
How come people never seem to realize, that collecting knives and swords isn't really for self-defence. It's a hobby. Like stamps. I really hope no-one is so retarded as to think that chinese shitknives are more useful than guns.
You pull a knife on someone who has a gun, you'll get shot. That is why guns are better than knives. Granted, knives are great for bushcraft and the likes (I wouldn't trade my mora for anything). But if you need to hurt someone, guns are far superior. That is why cops are issued Glocks, not Katanas or Claymores. Swords are outdated and obsolete. It's the 21st century. Learn to shoot a gun.
@KyleCMJohnson Wow, way to be a dick on the internet for no reason. And he doesn't get blades for self defense, he gets them as somewhat of a hobby. Swords are beautiful and fine examples of craftsmanship and engineering that has been refined over the course of centuries. The same thing can be said about guns, so can we just shut up about it?
Wearing sandals, full blown neckbeard, cheap Chinese knives that you've run over a whetstone a few times, anime-esque posing with the knives after slashing some menacing plastic jugs...
Did you honestly think it was a good idea to upload this on youtube?
@matchesburn Ignoring the rest of your droning, shaking the water off the knives is considered "Anime-esque posing" when it's something that you're SUPPOSED to do when cutting through anything wet (i.e. water bottles, human bodies, ect.)?
First, yes, that's anime-esque. And as for "something you're supposed to do," no. Not really. Normal people, that being ones that aren't trying to imitate swordplay in whatever generic dime-a-dozen anime we watched last, simply take a dry cloth, apply oil to the blade, and wipe it dry... So, you know, the water that you "flick away" with you super-cool anime poses doesn't leave pockets of water on the structure of the blade and cause rust.
@matchesburn Wrong. It's called Shibori, shaking the blood off of the blade after a strike. Every swordsman does it after cutting a target, whether or not the target is wet. It is a fundamental part of any form of kata or practice cutting. What blade you use for the cut makes no difference, whether it's a Katana or dual shortswords, the parts of the cut remain the same.
Lets say I break into your house with my mosin nagant with bayonet and you see me and have time to grab your compound bow and crossbow along with your toy knifes. Even if you hit me center mass twice its not like I instantly die and I will still be able to shoot you and bayonet charge you although I could die later... You on the other hand would die from 1 shot plus bayonet charge.
Why dont you buy a gun? Based on your weight I would think you would have a AR15 all tacticooled out or some shit.
@MastersOfRs I just don't like guns man. Maybe someday I'll buy a revolver or a bolt-action rifle, but I'm just against firearms, especially semi / full automatics.
@DreadnaughtMaster It's a shirt from PAX. All the weapons and other objects on it are related to video games. Yes, there's a bunch of guns, also multiple swords, the Warglaive of Azzinoth, a Big Daddy, and various other game-related things.
@bbillyk Sounds like you need some fire arm exposure. I think you would enjoy a nice revolver, i prefer shooting my revolver over my semi automatic handgun. Full auto is more money than i want to spend, and probably more paperwork than i want to do as well
@bbillyk How much did they cost? My mom doesn't want me to have dangerous toys and said she wont buy them for me so what did you say to your mom to get her to buy them for you?
@DYLAN392 Actually he doesn't really own them. I'm sure he owns a few, but the really cool ones we see in his videos are just sent to him for testing and then shipped on to the military.
Why would you want to go face to face with an enemy? In a real life situation that is what you want to avoid and you probably will as you will instinctively shit your pants and run/hide. You're not gonna have some "honorable" showdown with them. Unless you are a professional blades-man, whatever scenario you have in your head is not gonna play out and if the other person has a gun you're just gonna die and he won't give a shit about face to face.
@BetaGeneticz If someone were to actually invade my home, the first thing I would do is grab my crossbow. It's much less messy than a gun and will bring about the same results.
@bbillyk dude...come on. same results as a gun? I hope you have good aim because if you don't hit center mass or head then you have just disarmed yourself plus you have a very pissed off assailant charging at you. And if you actually kill him then good luck in court and being charged with manslaughter. Guns have more damage, higher capacity, and you save yourself a shitload of legal problems.
@BetaGeneticz I have VERY good aim, have taken down my fair share of raccoons and squirrels with it, at much greater distances than anything inside of my house. And if you think GUN = LESS legal problems, you strange. And no, even if I didn't get a kill shot, I wouldn't be disarmed. Enter my sidearm Ka-Bar knife. Actually, now that you mention it, crossbow is kind of a one-shot thing. I'd likely load the crossbow and wear it on a strap, and use my compound bow for the first shot.
@bbillyk The saying goes dead men don't tell tales. There's a right way and a wrong way to self defense. You think you're a good shot? Fine, but that's all down the drain in an adrenaline rushed situation. I've shot in shooting competitions since I was 8 and have remarkable aim. Last year I was attacked by 2 people (brothers) wielding knives, all over me breaking up their sister. They were no more than 5 feet away from me and my first shot landed on guy in the shoulder. Goes to show how much....
...skill drops when in a fight or flight mode. One of my attackers were killed instantly due to an inflicted shot to the head. The brother passed 2 weeks later. After the shooting, I was taken to the hospital, stitched up, then was taken questioned at the local PD for 4 hours then released. I was arrested 4 days later because when the brother regained consciousness, he gave police a false report saying I pulled the gun first, then they cut me in defense. Luckily footage...
...from a liquor store security camera proved otherwise. After that ordeal, all charges were dropped, and I was told the brother was going to be charged for aggravated assault and assault with a deadly weapon when he was discharged from the hospital, well as you know, he checked out in another way. Now if it wasn't for that footage, I would've possibly faced felonious charges, all because one an attacker was alive and able to make up some BS story because he was....
@BMWxM3xGTR That's a very interesting story, sorry you had to go through that, but you did what you had to. Of course, I hope I never actually have to use any of my weapons, but I try to keep ready in case the worst does happen. If there's ever a time where I have to defend my life or the lives of my family, I'll make absolutely sure the guy won't get back up. I've heard too many stories of thieves either regaining consciousness or straight up faking an injury and then (Continuing)
@BMWxM3xGTR (Continued...damn character limits) And then striking when the victim is off guard, calling the cops or whatever. Heard a story of a gas station clerk shooting a thief 5 times and he was still attacking him before bleeding out. Officers arrested the clerk for excessive force but once again security cameras saved the day showing that the criminal was still coming for him even after the 5 shots. Shit was crazy.
...still alive. Before his story was told, I was free to go. It goes to show, dead men really don't tell tales. At age 19, my whole life would've been ruined for legitimately defending my life, if not for that footage. I'm not proud of what I had to do, but im thankful I'm alive and free, A firearm is a suitable means of defense; not a knife or a bow and arrow. Forbid anyone were to break into your home and you were to be forced to defend yourself, but if it did...
...turn to you having to defend yourself, your attacker with arrow and stab wounds is going to look very bad in your defense. At some point in the attack, it may be ruled that you continued after a point where that attacker is no longer legally a threat. It's why I didn't shoot the 2nd attacker while he was on the ground. If i did, it would be legally killing someone who wasn't a threat (murder). Save yourself alot of legal trouble and buy a PRACTICAL tool for defense.
@BMWxM3xGTR Sorry man, I COMPLETELY understand your concerns here, and I thank you for your information. Perhaps someday I'll buy a revolver or bolt action rifle, but I really don't like guns, especially semi / full automatics. I'll take my chances with a bow and a sword rather than use a firearm.
@bbillyk (will be a 2 parter) Just needed the full story out there to show the reasoning behind the importance of reasonable means of defense as for doing it not only correctly, but with the right tool as to stay out of trouble for doing nothing but simply wanting to live. As for what you choose for defense, do what you're comfortable with. For a year, I carried a military style rifle for defense (at 18, you can legally openly carry any firearm without a permit in Michigan) because of...
...that rifle having better defensive capabilities than the only pistol I owned at the time (a .22. It can kill, but not the most practical for self defense). Sure the rifle was a hassle to carry, but Its all I had that I felt comfortable with as defense.. Your option may land you in more legal trouble than its worth, but if you're comfortable with that fact and your weapons for defense, then that's your choice. Some aren't comfortable with guns and there's nothing wrong with that.
@Crunchieman Can't really say. I was raised by people with absolutely no accent at all, lived in America my entire life. It's just my voice. Always has been.
@joshhofstad1 I rather dislike guns. They DO require skill, I'm not gonna say that they don't, but I'd rather go face to face with my enemy than point something at them and pull a stick.
@sasukeuchiha1ful They could, but they're certainly not optimal for that. The blades are very light, and MUCH more suited for slashing flesh, and most likely could not cut through bone, most especially not a skull, being the hardest bone in the body. You could try stabbing through the zombie's eye into the brain, but that would take either luck or a lot of skill, and if you miss your hand is that much closer to it's mouth. For zombies I have a spiked war hammer and an axe.
@jenosa ...Okay those are pretty cool. I'd grab one but I just can't see myself dropping 50$ on a knife when I can get a full-size functional Katana for that price, and when I can get Cold Steel Kukris for 20$.
Good swords you got there. I would reccomend a samurai special katana honestly. good blades for the price. Just be ready to rewrap it. The wrap on those swords are shit. Another sword I think you should look into getting would be a Hanwei Claymore. That would be perfect for someone your size. (Not a fat joke, I'm being serious)
@MastaDamascus Claymores don't interest me much. Not sure why, but I've never really liked straight blades. If I was going to drop 200$ on a large blade, I'd grab a real Odachi from Musashi or perhaps a very large Scimitar or Kilij
The only good thing about stainless steel is the inability to rust. That blade will break if used roughly.. Only a display piece in my opinion, just cause I'd like to keep all of my organs. And the black is 110% better than the original wrapping by the way.
Hi Head and shoulders !

If I was going to drop 200$ on a large blade, I'd grab a real Odachi from Musashi or perhaps a very large Scimitar or Kilij

you should get the Celtic warrior sword on trueswords . com it looks cool, I used to own one.

The only good thing about stainless steel is the inability to rust. That blade will break if used roughly.. Only a display piece in my opinion, just cause I'd like to keep all of my organs. And the black is 110% better than the original wrapping by the way.
