Vivian Leigh will always be my top Scarlett, but in the book she is not described as beautiful. I think Joanne is a lovely woman, but most women are not as beautiful as Vivian. She is one in million.
How in the World this actress was chosen to play Scarlett???? Or the maker of the movie had never read the book? Scarlett mail feature is her Big bright green eyes! As Vivien was The perfect Scarless as much this actress doen not match Scarlett description whatsoever..I was never able to understand how in the world did she end up plaing Scarlett O Hara!!! Big question!
it was a made for tv movie based on the novel that was the seuqel to gone with the wind i have the movie on dvd i love love love the movie it was the perfect sequel to gone with the wind scarlett becomes a mother again she get's back together with rhett she goes on a journey that changes her and her life forever! vivien leigh was the perfect scarlett o'har but joanne whalley played scarlett in the sequel she was perfect for the part!

The ONLY thing good about this movie is it ends with Rhett and Scarlet finally back together...other than that, it's complete swill....The rape and murder trial?? Come on!!! What is this??? "One Life To Live"...LOL
You must really like this pathetic excuse for a film to be playing lawyer for it just because I expressed my reasonable opinion over this crap. *Chuckle* Idiot...
@LexiixoxRoxx "You must really like this pathetic excuse for a film to be playing lawyer for it just because I expressed my reasonable opinion over this crap." I've already stated that I'm not a particular fan of the sequel. But even if I was, you haven't exactly provided a valid or reasonable critique of it that would persuade anyone over the age of twelve that it truly sucks. To be honest, I doubt you have the intellect to.
I have the right to an opinion and I will state whenever and where the fuck I want when I fucking feel like it. YOU'D be better off minding your own damn business because nothing you say is going to change my mind. And I don't need to take up anything with the Mitchell estate. This movie was a complete flop and that makes them look stupid, not me.
@LexiixoxRoxx "I have the right to an opinion and I will state whenever and where the fuck I want when I fucking feel like it." Yes, you certainly have the right to an opinion, but that doesn't mean anyone is obligated to agree. As far as me minding my own business, that's something you should discuss with the higher ups as well. In this case, you should probably start by writing a lengthy letter to Youtube informing them that that whole 'reply button thingy' was a bad idea.
This women looks in her 40's and she's not beautiful. "gone with the wind" ends and "Scarlett" starts with Scarlett being 28, still vibrantly beautiful. And yes, with green eyes. That is a Scarlett "staple", that is her Irish heritage. Vivien Leigh was the spit image of Scarlett as Margaret Mitchell has described her in the beginning of the book. But this lady, sorry to say, is NOT Scarlett. And the actor is too young for Rhett Butler.
not gonna lie, based on the description in the book and the feel i got... i think that joanne is a better scarlett than vivien. sure, theres the eye color... but come on guys. eyes arent everything. if they had cast anyone with green eyes off the street the movie would have sucked! she just suits the role more for me and brins more strength to the table than i believe vivien did.
@Diehardwickedfan The idea that Vivien Leigh is somehow untouchable as Scarlett O'Hara has no real basis in reality. It's the popular opinion of lazy Gone With The Wind "fans" who haven't bothered to read the book. Unlike Scarlett, Vivien was quite Mary Sueish and fey in appearance. Her personality was likewise as noticeably vapid, and she lacked the vivaciousness and fire of Scarlett. Every instance in which a scene called for vibrancy on her part seemed cold and unrealistic.
@Diehardwickedfan I'm not saying that she was horrible for the role, but she wasn't as great or true-to-character as she is painted out to be. To put it simply, if anyone had played Scarlett other than Vivien, the people complaining about Joanne Whalley not being Leigh (duh fucktards, she's dead), would be complaining that she wasn't that person. It's stupid and oh so obvious.
is this a made-for-tv movie??? let me know the name please... i'm just curious... I like Vivien so much... but I also like to see this lady's take on the scarlett o hara role
Joanne Whalley is not Vivien, it's sur. But she's beautiful and she plays good. But Vivien was vivien and she was Scarlett and she'll be Scarlett forever in our heart. She was more beautiful, more talented, more all :). and yeah, it shocked the brown eyes... Scarlett is not Scarlett without her green eyes, Although Vivien had blue eyes :)
I watched this movie, and though she's not as young and pretty as vivien, she had that "scarlett" quality. if anything, vivien was too pretty to be scarlett, if we're going by the book. Scarlett was not the prettiest girl, but she was the fiestiest. I give this actress credit for being as scarlett as possible.
There is a reason why GWTW is still so very famous after over 70 years and the horrendous sequel has been mostly forgotten after 10 years. This lady looks nothing like the Scarlett in the book (yes, she should have green eyes) nor does she look anything like the Vivien Leigh. You made a nice video about something rather sub-mediorce.
@chislehurstbat Oh, I completely agree with you. I think Margaret Mitchell is spinning in her grave because she was vehemently against any sequels. I will say the Victorian costumes in this clip are gorgeous, however.
@LexiixoxRoxx Yeah well, I hate to break it to you honey, but she's dead. Been that way for over 40 years. I don't know about you, but the idea of a corpse playing Scarlett doesn't really appeal to me.
@itchywitch100 Yeah, well I hate to break it to you DARLING, but I know damn well she is dead. She's my favorite actress and it's fucking obvious she is not longer alive. She died in 1967 so don't go there with me, SWEETHEART. And no, SUGARPIE the idea of a corpse playing Scarlett doesn't appeal to me anymore than this woman TRYING (and failing) to play her. Which is why they shouldn't have made this crap sequel to begin with. Have a nice life DEAR. :)
@LexiixoxRoxx How is she "failing" to portray Scarlett? Can you give an actual critique of her performance instead of pointing out petty issues like eye color and the fact that she *gasp* isn't Vivien Leigh? - (Duh! Thank you, Captain Obvious!) I'll admit, I'm not exactly crazy about the sequel, (book or film), but despite the eye color which could have been solved with colored contacts, I think Joanne did a pretty good job at portraying Scarlett.
@LexiixoxRoxx Vivien Leigh's family doesn't own the character of Scarlett O'Hara. People have portrayed her since Vivien and people will portray her in the future. I know it might be difficult for someone of your limited mental capacity to grasp, but once you realize they aren't the same person, you'll be far better off. Your passionate disdain for Ripley's sequel is something you need to take up with the Margaret Mitchell estate. I'm sure they'll revoke its legitimacy right away! *snickers*
@itchywitch100 You're so funny! Truly you amuse me, dear. I don't care whether or not her family owns the character, did I even mention them? NO sweetie, I didn't. And of course people have portrayed her, but have they done a good job? Again, NO. And it isn't difficult to grasp retard, I grasp it perfectly well. That doesn't mean I have to consider their performances good or even satisfactory.
@LexiixoxRoxx "And of course people have portrayed her, but have they done a good job? Again, NO. And it isn't difficult to grasp retard, I grasp it perfectly well." Apparently, you don't grasp anything well. I asked you earlier if you could give an actual critique of her performance and so far, you've failed to do that, which obviously proves you can't. You seem to think "Vivien Leigh's not in it, so it sucks" passes for critique. Fail.
No, Angelique - the beautiful woman who married ugly Joffrey, the count of Toulouse. Ann Golon wrote this book, and there are movies based on the book.
